Oh yeah, definitely stereotypes, though some actually could be Ravenclaws but most were stereotyped into the house. I'm not sure, but this list seems to be made by an outsider that only knows Ravenclaw by it's stereotyped image, and not someone in the actual house that knows Ravenclaw more personally. Definitely one of the least known and appreciated of the houses. Especially since Fantastic Beasts came out. Except for a few side characters, Ravenclaw has hardly any representation. Luna, Flitwick, and Cho about sums it up for positive representatives that have some appearance time. It's like Rowling doesn't care much for Ravenclaw. Which is sad because it's qualities are fantastic and great qualities to possess, and would make for very interesting protagonists given half a chance. Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff represent such great qualities in humanity but are consistently shoved to the side because they aren't the loud houses, the ones that demand attention. However, both these houses should be given more attention, their qualities should definitely be given way more attention in the real world than they are given. People giving more emphasis on Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff qualities would change the world for the better.
Okay but being 'smart', a book lover and/or having good grades does not make you a Ravenclaw. Will House stereotypes die already? Wit, curiosity, imagination, wisdom, creativity, open mindedness, individuality, are some of the Ravenclaw traits. There's so much more to every House.

This annoys me! Ravenclaws think outside the box. If every person that was book smart was a Ravenclaw, Hermione would have been in the wrong house! In fact, it’s because she’s just book smart ( e.g rigid knowledge, by the book) that she couldn’t be a Ravenclaw. I do, however, agree with some of these.
I hate it when ravenclaws always say that Hermione is only booksmart. Because that would mean that she knows just the things that are needed for school...Thats simply not true. She is incredibly smart in stressful situations and also can think "outside of the box" for example when she jumps on a dragon in the deathly Hallows or makes an organisation for the elves, a problem that no one else pay attention to ... Or in many other situations... You are just depressed that not a ravenclaw is "the brightest witch of her age"... It is even mentioned that the hat would have sorted Hermione in Ravenclaw when she wouldn't think that bravery is more important than smartness or creativity... Same with Dumbledore he is the smartest and wisest wiz zard but still not a Ravenclaw.
@Rodrigo Santos Valeriano definitely! But he values bravery and other attributes from Gryffindor more. In fact there is a theory that you can only choose to be a Gryffindor and that the golden trio represent Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff but each of them choosed to be a Gryffindor.

I have always thought of MCU Tony Stark as a solid Slytherin. He is genius smart, yes, but not really for the sake of knowledge. He does spend most of his life selling weapons (so he has at least some kind of grey-shaded morality). He is a strategist, and likes to be powerful, respected and admired. In fact, one of the struggles that defines his character is overcoming his own selfish inclinations. Being intelligent is not what being a Ravenclaw is about. It is more about being open-minded, creative, thinking outside the box and not really caring where the knowledge you gain leads you. Look at Hermione: half of the time she is the most clever person in Hogwarts, but she always sticks to logic, she is rigid with the rules and very resistant to doubt her own knowledge. Her erudition is important to her for her own ego and for using it on her useful and noble quests. That is because she is smart, yes, but a Gryffindor. I think a similar thing happens with MCU Stark: He is smart, yes, but a Slytherin.
Elle woods is more of a hufflepuff or slytherin I think . Cuz she is extremely loyal , ambitious, kind and cunning too. She would be a hatstall between hufflepuff and slytherin . Definitely not ravenclaw.
I know she's creative, dreamy, smart in her own way and all that, but I'd say Phoebe's more of a Hufflepuff in my opinion. Her nature of loving all living creatures is what defines her most of all and that's Helga Hufflepuff reincarnated really.
I felt that Phoebe should definitely be an Honourable Mention as a Ravenclaw, since she's eccentric, creative and certainly marches to the beat of her own drum, which confuses her friends, more often than not. She may have some Hufflepuff traits, at least in the earlier seasons, but is mostly Ravenclaw through and through!💙🐦

im kinda disappointed that none of the pevensie siblings made these lists when they all exhibit qualities from the houses with susan being a ravenclaw, lucy a hufflepuff, edmund a slytherin and peter a gryffindor.
How is Susan a Ravenclaw? She closes her mind to Narnia, calling them "silly games we used to play as children," and in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, she is mentioned specifically as not being very good at school work, presumably because her head is too full of boys and makeup. If anything, I could see someone making a case for her being a Hufflepuff. She's always described as the gracious and gentle one, and frequently plays the mediator role between her siblings. To me, Lucy (tellingly named 'the Valiant') is clearly painted as having the heart of a Gryffindor. She's both adventurous and courageous, with a strong sense of right and wrong. Edmund's experiences through LWatW turn him into a pretty committed Ravenclaw, and Peter could maaaaaybe be considered a Slytherin? If you're determined to fit each sibling into a house and you... y'know, squint a little, and consider his characterization in the films. But I agree he fits best into Gryffindor as well.

Lee Almonte susan disregarding narnia as ‘childs play’ gives me reavenclaw energy though cause its just like yeah right as if theres a magical land that exists (logic). one of hufflepuffs signature traits is loyalty and dedication but susan didnt show loyalty and dedication to narnia and aslan like lucy did. plus, hufflepuffs are modest and susan being so focused on boys and shit isnt exactly modest behaviour. ravenclaws arent just about being smart cause they represent individuality and sharpness which susan represents. i mean, gilderoy lockhart and luna lovegood aren’t exactly the poster people for ravenclaw yet theyre the most known.

I totally agree. It's not enough for someone to be smart and into books to be a Ravenclaw. Hermione is a great example of that. Ravenclaws should also be a bit quirky, unconventional, and appreciate learning for the knowledge sake, not because they want to prove something or get good grades. I'm not necessarily mad because I know how hard it is to find legit Ravenclaw merch with a bronze eagle, instead of silver with a crow, and she was trying to do a video about Ravenclaw so she thought she should dress the part. I'm more disappointed that it is so hard to find legit Ravenclaw merch, and sad that the movie producers, or whoever did it, felt it necessary to change the image, even though it was totally unnecessary. They didn't actually need to change it, it would have been fine how it was in the books. Not sure why they did.

The problem with this is, Ravenclaws don't necessarily conform to rules all the time, some maybe never. We generally walk our own path and think outside the box. We are complete individuals in our way of thinking, and if the rules go along with that way of thinking then yes, we will follow them, but it's not a given that we will. That path could coincide with the rules of whatever land or institution we are in at the time, or it could not. Just because we enjoy knowledge and are intelligent, doesn't mean we conform to the rules. That is a complete stereotype of the intelligent given by hollywood in some 80's movies when they were overly portraying the "geek" versus the "jock". Neither are a real representation of the two. People are way too complicated to be so two dimensional. Conforming to rules and coloring within the lines is a typical stereotype and misconception given to us by people outside our house that don't really know much about Ravenclaw at all. My second point is that Ravenclaw is not full of orderly people. Yes, some may very well be, but we are also known as being eccentric and some can be scatterbrained, which sometimes does not fit with orderly at all. There are many different types of Ravenclaws. The eccentric characteristic comes because of the way some Ravenclaws think. The most intelligent, ingenious, innovative people through history were generally like this, eccentric, thinking every which way, and sometimes that doesn't leave room for other things, like being organized. It's hard to be that way when ideas are coming at you from all sides. A good example of all this is the comparison between Hermione, who is incessantly organized, tries to follow the rules (for the most part) and is in Gryffindor house but is also one of the most intelligent and talented people in her year, and Luna, who walks to her own beat, seems a bit scattered and eccentric, but is actually in the Ravenclaw house and very much exemplifies Ravenclaw with her incredible wisdom and being able to see possibilities. She may very well be just as intelligent and talented as Hermione, but it presents in a different way. Also, I think Violet Baudelaire would have been in Ravenclaw as well. Creativity and resourcefulness are also very big traits of Ravenclaw.

I just am a Ravenclaw who is secondarily a Slytherin and so to me the difference between me and Tyrion is very clear--for me, knowledge is the primary goal and a way to obtain control, but for him control is the primary goal. I think probably I'd be sorted the same way when I was 11, but I have no idea about Tyrion. Maybe there's more about his childhood character in the books but I dunno. As far as we know anyway adult Tyrion is a Slytherin. The real difference too between Tyrion and the rest of his also-Slytherin family is that they are not really at all Ravenclaws--Jamie is probably Gryffindor and a little Hufflepuff and Slytherin thrown in because he's loyal and honourable and courageous with a strict moral code, and Tywin and Cersei seem pretty purely Slytherin to me.
Tyrion is more Slytherin. The reason he reads is to know things because knowledge is power. He can't fight like Jamie so his mind is his weapon. He's very ambitious, he wants to prove himself and does not forgive those who have hurt him most. He is determined and extremely cunning and calculating. He's able to manipulate and fool people. Remember how he told 3 different people who he was marrying Myrcella to in order to find out who was spying on him. He came up with the plan for the battle at Blackwater bay. He threatened his cousin and got him to spy for him. He's very resourceful and strategic, he reads people well and predicts their intentions. Daenerys Targaryen: I didn't ask him to be my Hand, simply because he was good. I asked him to be my Hand because he was good, and intelligent, and ruthless when he had to be.

1 - it's a mistake not putting Phoebe in the list cuz she's basically the adult version of Luna 2 - from 15 characters I only recognized 5 true Ravenclaws. The house goes beyond the "smart Hermione" style and I'm not saying that those characters aren't Ravenclaws cuz they have the possibility to be but it's fact that people misunderstand the house bc of the smart stereotype
Being a Ravenclaw isn't just about being smart and reading books. If that was the case, Hermione would've been a Ravenclaw, and it's not a coincidence that she's not. Hogwarts houses are more about the core values and personality traits of a person, not just their likes and dislikes. It's more complicated than that.
Early Lisa Simpson had Ravenclaw traits. However, as time went on, she showed more of a Slytherin side. She constantly throws her intellect in people's faces and can't stand someone being better than her. She even tried to sabatoge Bart when he showed musical aptitude.
I'd say Homer and the Simpson children are all Slytherin, tbh. Marge is the odd one out being either a Ravenclaw (She's shown to be quite intelligent, creative, wise and witty), or Hufflepuff.
Because the criteria they are putting here for Ravenclaw is it's stereotyped image and doesn't take into account any of the other qualities that make someone a Ravenclaw. Wisdom, creativity, thinking outside the box, individuality, being open-minded, innovation, resourcefulness, acceptance of different ways of thinking and being, wanting to know something for knowledge's sake not to gain anything else, etc. Ravenclaw was never about just intelligence, and it's definitely not limited to book smarts. There are a lot of different ways to be smart. Book smart is just one of many. The more accurate representation of Ravenclaw would actually be Luna, not Hermione. Which is why Hermione isn't in Ravenclaw. She's smart, but she isn't actually that open-minded or accepting. She thinks in a linear, conformed, by the book way. That's not as Ravenclaw as people tend to think. Yeah, Ravenclaw is definitely the least known of the houses if everyone outside Ravenclaw thinks Hermione is an accurate representation of the house.

I absolutely agree with you on Tyrion. The man had ambition all his life, the knowledge he acquired was to serve his ambitions and to prove himself - both to his father and the people of Westeros - which is inarguably a SLYTHERIN trait. This is even more clear in the books, but in the tv show as well, evidenced by his love for Shae being overshadowed by his desire to remain in power, and his decision to stay in politics to serve Dany, rather than lie low in Essos the rest of his life as he could have done. He liked the game, and he liked that he was GOOD at it. He says this, VERBATIM, to Varys. I think people are kidding themselves when they try to say Tyrion was interested in knowledge just for learning's sake. As if being a Slytherin is somehow a detraction from his character; if anything, he's a wonderful example of the GOOD Slytherins can be capable of, turning their wiles to a righteous cause... It didn't go terribly well for him in the final season of the show (he made a series of dumb decisions that further weakens his case of being a Ravenclaw, imo), but his ambitions were ultimately realized... and that was framed as a triumph.

There are a lot of characters on here who actually do not belong in ravenclaw and I know cause I'm a ravenclaw. The biggest one being that detective. Ravenclaws do NOT follow order and structures, we are creative, witty, wise, and we look at everything on a deeper level and we question things often. We do things our own way and look at the world with different perspectives then most. It's usually because of this that we are seen as quirky or even as oddballs, yet we don't care because we are often a few steps ahead of others. Like being able to see how a terrifying creature is actually a sweetheart, Ex: Luna Lovegood and thestrals (Skeleton Pegasus')

Unpopular opinion: Belle is not a Ravenclaw. She's a Gryffindor. Her song is about not wanting to adhere to the mundane lifestyle of the village folk, and finding adventure. I actually see her being in all 3 houses expect for Hufflepuff. I see her being in Gryffindor or Slytherin than Ravenclaw Spencer is smart and the most clever of the group. The girls would have been dead without her intelligence. I did see her being in Slytherin. She is the most ambitious of the group. She knows what she wants and doesnt care what it takes to get it. I feel like Tyrion is Slytherin. He read to sharpen his mind so he could use his knowledge as a weapon, and when he became hand of the king he found that he loved playing politics and outmaneuvering others. He’s not just book smart, he’s cunning and manipulative. Just because he’s not a bad guy doesn’t mean he can’t be a Slytherin, and just because he reads books doesn’t make him a Ravenclaw.
Bit disappointed on the list really. Ravenclaws aren't just bookworms, they're inventive and sometimes bit eccentric people who think outside the box. Tenth Doctor for sure was a great addition but it kinda feels like you don't really grasp the concept of this house.

Vizzini (The Princess Bride) While you may argue that he lost that battle of wits with Wesley, he did put much thought into where the poison was. He's actually someone I sympathize because he's brilliant, cultured, and sophisticated, but he lives in a society where such things are spat upon while those who are lazy, sloppy, and ignorant are highly rewarded. He would probably be not so evil if he found his true people in Ravenclaw House. 7. The Scarecrow (Batman franchise) Dr. Jonathan Crane is a psychologist who specializes in phobias and developed a fear toxin that makes people relive their worst fears. It's actually his fascination with fear and love of the study he puts into it that truly drives him, and no doubt he'd be an expert in dementors and boggarts. 6. The Brain (Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain) This lab mouse desires to conquer the world simply because he thinks that his superior intellect would make the world a better place, and thus he spends every night coming up with a new scheme to put himself into a position of power. Unfortunately for him, his brilliant plans are often foiled by his psychotic sidekick, Pinky. You think he'd be smart enough to find better help. 5. Saruman (The Lord of the Rings) Some might argue that he's more Slytherin material, but Saruman has the scientific genius that would put him in Ravenclaw, as his treachery towards his fellow Wizard Gandalf and the Free People he swore to protect was born from his isolation from the rest of Middle-Earth as he took residence in Isengard and spent decades of research and experimentation. This Wizard would definitely make a great Hogwarts Professor, or a rival of Voldemort. 4. Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man franchise) Once a brilliant nuclear physicist and engineer, Doctor Otto Octavius was driven mad when his robotic arms fused to his spine and took over his mind when the inhibitor chip he used to control them was destroyed. One of the webslinger's most intelligent and difficult enemies, Doc Ock is only interested in his scientific experiments and doesn't care how much damage they'll do or who gets hurt in the process. 3. Grand Admiral Thrawn (Star Wars Rebels) Probably one of the smartest things the people at Disney did since they bought Star Wars was make this character canon, as he's one of the most popular Star Wars characters outside of the movies. Thrawn is constantly studying his opponents, not just their tactics but their history, culture, and art. He looks at the bigger picture and analyzes every little detail. If he were in charge of the Death Star instead of Tarkin, he'd probably be concerned about an exhaust port that led to the reactor. He already sports the Ravenclaw color with his blue skin, and he'd probably give Ravenclaw the best Quidditch team. 2. The Riddler (Batman franchise) Edward Nygma is one of Batman's smartest enemies, as he is constantly challenging the World's Greatest Detective with puzzles and riddles only to prove that he is the smartest person in all of Gotham. As a Ravenclaw student must answer a riddle to be allowed into the dormitory, the Riddler would find his home there. Heck, he'd probably ask tougher and more deadly riddles to his fellow Ravenclaws. 1. Brainiac (DC Universe) "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure" is the Ravenclaw motto, and if that's the case, Brainiac is richest being in the universe. Brainiac collects the knowledge of different worlds and shrinks the greatest cities of those worlds before destroying said worlds (in some continuities, he was even responsible for the destruction of Krypton). Brainiac does this simply because the fewer who share this knowledge, the more valuable the knowledge, and thus he wants to be its sole possessor. Being a Ravenclaw myself, with all of these smart but twisted minds, I worry about myself.

She also went into the dark forest, not knowing what would happen to her; just to find her father. *2: She's chivalrous* She's very polite to the townspeople and Gaston (until he tries to throw her father into an insane asylum and coerce her into marriage) *3: She reads for fun and to escape reality* She says herself; "Daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!" *4: She craves adventure and to explore the world* "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere, I want it more than I can tell!" *5: She could've escaped but she didn't* When she was in the forest, after the Beast saved her from wolves, she could've escaped. I am a Ravenclaw, but with Slytherin undertones as I was sorted into Slytherin many times when I was a kid. I love to write and read, but I often have difficulty getting into a book. The last grate book I read was good omens. I write and draw as a creative outlet and my job as a nurse has be solving puzzles on a daily basis. I love the thrill of the hunt for answers and the satisfaction of knowing that I have the power to advocate for my clients. I may be a smarty pants, but I also have personal integrity, don't give much of a shit what anybody thinks or weather Im liked by others and am more likely to see a person for who they are than for what house there in. Not all Slytherins are bad, not all grifindores are good at heart, not all Hufflepuffs play fair and not all Ravenclaws are inherently intelligent.

Oh yeah, definitely stereotypes, though some actually could be Ravenclaws but most were stereotyped into the house. I'm not sure, but this list seems to be made by an outsider that only knows Ravenclaw by it's stereotyped image, and not someone in the actual house that knows Ravenclaw more personally. Definitely one of the least known and appreciated of the houses. Especially since Fantastic Beasts came out. Except for a few side characters, Ravenclaw has hardly any representation. Luna, Flitwick, and Cho about sums it up for positive representatives that have some appearance time. It's like Rowling doesn't care much for Ravenclaw. Which is sad because it's qualities are fantastic and great qualities to possess, and would make for very interesting protagonists given half a chance. Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff represent such great qualities in humanity but are consistently shoved to the side because they aren't the loud houses, the ones that demand attention. However, both these houses should be given more attention, their qualities should definitely be given way more attention in the real world than they are given. People giving more emphasis on Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff qualities would change the world for the better.
Okay but being 'smart', a book lover and/or having good grades does not make you a Ravenclaw. Will House stereotypes die already? Wit, curiosity, imagination, wisdom, creativity, open mindedness, individuality, are some of the Ravenclaw traits. There's so much more to every House.

This annoys me! Ravenclaws think outside the box. If every person that was book smart was a Ravenclaw, Hermione would have been in the wrong house! In fact, it’s because she’s just book smart ( e.g rigid knowledge, by the book) that she couldn’t be a Ravenclaw. I do, however, agree with some of these.
I hate it when ravenclaws always say that Hermione is only booksmart. Because that would mean that she knows just the things that are needed for school...Thats simply not true. She is incredibly smart in stressful situations and also can think "outside of the box" for example when she jumps on a dragon in the deathly Hallows or makes an organisation for the elves, a problem that no one else pay attention to ... Or in many other situations... You are just depressed that not a ravenclaw is "the brightest witch of her age"... It is even mentioned that the hat would have sorted Hermione in Ravenclaw when she wouldn't think that bravery is more important than smartness or creativity... I have always thought of MCU Tony Stark as a solid Slytherin. He is genius smart, yes, but not really for the sake of knowledge. He does spend most of his life selling weapons (so he has at least some kind of grey-shaded morality). He is a strategist, and likes to be powerful, respected and admired. In fact, one of the struggles that defines his character is overcoming his own selfish inclinations.
Being intelligent is not what being a Ravenclaw is about. It is more about being open-minded, creative, thinking outside the box and not really caring where the knowledge you gain leads you.
Look at Hermione: half of the time she is the most clever person in Hogwarts, but she always sticks to logic, she is rigid with the rules and very resistant to doubt her own knowledge. Her erudition is important to her for her own ego and for using it on her useful and noble quests. That is because she is smart, yes, but a Gryffindor. I think a similar thing happens with MCU Stark: He is smart, yes, but a Slytherin.

The fact that Phoebe Buffay is not on this list, but Amy Santiago is, just shows that you guys have no idea what it really means to be a Ravenclaw.
I know she's creative, dreamy, smart in her own way and all that, but I'd say Phoebe's more of a Hufflepuff in my opinion. Her nature of loving all living creatures is what defines her most of all and that's Helga Hufflepuff reincarnated really.
I felt that Phoebe should definitely be an Honourable Mention as a Ravenclaw, since she's eccentric, creative and certainly marches to the beat of her own drum, which confuses her friends, more often than not. She may have some Hufflepuff traits, at least in the earlier seasons, but is mostly Ravenclaw through and through!💙🐦

im kinda disappointed that none of the pevensie siblings made these lists when they all exhibit qualities from the houses with susan being a ravenclaw, lucy a hufflepuff, edmund a slytherin and peter a gryffindor.
How is Susan a Ravenclaw? She closes her mind to Narnia, calling them "silly games we used to play as children," and in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, she is mentioned specifically as not being very good at school work, presumably because her head is too full of boys and makeup. If anything, I could see someone making a case for her being a Hufflepuff. She's always described as the gracious and gentle one, and frequently plays the mediator role between her siblings.
To me, Lucy (tellingly named 'the Valiant') is clearly painted as having the heart of a Gryffindor. She's both adventurous and courageous, with a strong sense of right and wrong. Edmund's experiences through LWatW turn him into a pretty committed Ravenclaw, and Peter could maaaaaybe be considered a Slytherin? If you're determined to fit each sibling into a house and you... y'know, squint a little, and consider his characterization in the films. But I agree he fits best into Gryffindor as well.

Lee Almonte susan disregarding narnia as ‘childs play’ gives me reavenclaw energy though cause its just like yeah right as if theres a magical land that exists (logic). one of hufflepuffs signature traits is loyalty and dedication but susan didnt show loyalty and dedication to narnia and aslan like lucy did. plus, hufflepuffs are modest and susan being so focused on boys and shit isnt exactly modest behaviour. ravenclaws arent just about being smart cause they represent individuality and sharpness which susan represents. i mean, gilderoy lockhart and luna lovegood aren’t exactly the poster people for ravenclaw yet theyre the most known.

I totally agree. It's not enough for someone to be smart and into books to be a Ravenclaw. Hermione is a great example of that. Ravenclaws should also be a bit quirky, unconventional, and appreciate learning for the knowledge sake, not because they want to prove something or get good grades. I'm not necessarily mad because I know how hard it is to find legit Ravenclaw merch with a bronze eagle, instead of silver with a crow, and she was trying to do a video about Ravenclaw so she thought she should dress the part. I'm more disappointed that it is so hard to find legit Ravenclaw merch, and sad that the movie producers, or whoever did it, felt it necessary to change the image, even though it was totally unnecessary. They didn't actually need to change it, it would have been fine how it was in the books. Not sure why they did.

The problem with this is, Ravenclaws don't necessarily conform to rules all the time, some maybe never. We generally walk our own path and think outside the box. We are complete individuals in our way of thinking, and if the rules go along with that way of thinking then yes, we will follow them, but it's not a given that we will. That path could coincide with the rules of whatever land or institution we are in at the time, or it could not. Just because we enjoy knowledge and are intelligent, doesn't mean we conform to the rules. That is a complete stereotype of the intelligent given by hollywood in some 80's movies when they were overly portraying the "geek" versus the "jock". Neither are a real representation of the two. People are way too complicated to be so two dimensional. Conforming to rules and coloring within the lines is a typical stereotype and misconception given to us by people outside our house that don't really know much about Ravenclaw at all. My second point is that Ravenclaw is not full of orderly people. Yes, some may very well be, but we are also known as being eccentric and some can be scatterbrained, which sometimes does not fit with orderly at all. There are many different types of Ravenclaws. The eccentric characteristic comes because of the way some Ravenclaws think. The most intelligent, ingenious, innovative people through history were generally like this, eccentric, thinking every which way, and sometimes that doesn't leave room for other things, like being organized. It's hard to be that way when ideas are coming at you from all sides. A good example of all this is the comparison between Hermione, who is incessantly organized, tries to follow the rules (for the most part) and is in Gryffindor house but is also one of the most intelligent and talented people in her year, and Luna, who walks to her own beat, seems a bit scattered and eccentric, but is actually in the Ravenclaw house and very much exemplifies Ravenclaw with her incredible wisdom and being able to see possibilities. She may very well be just as intelligent and talented as Hermione, but it presents in a different way. Also, I think Violet Baudelaire would have been in Ravenclaw as well. Creativity and resourcefulness are also very big traits of Ravenclaw.

I just am a Ravenclaw who is secondarily a Slytherin and so to me the difference between me and Tyrion is very clear--for me, knowledge is the primary goal and a way to obtain control, but for him control is the primary goal. I think probably I'd be sorted the same way when I was 11, but I have no idea about Tyrion. Maybe there's more about his childhood character in the books but I dunno. As far as we know anyway adult Tyrion is a Slytherin. The real difference too between Tyrion and the rest of his also-Slytherin family is that they are not really at all Ravenclaws--Jamie is probably Gryffindor and a little Hufflepuff and Slytherin thrown in because he's loyal and honourable and courageous with a strict moral code, and Tywin and Cersei seem pretty purely Slytherin to me.

Tyrion is more Slytherin. The reason he reads is to know things because knowledge is power. He can't fight like Jamie so his mind is his weapon. He's very ambitious, he wants to prove himself and does not forgive those who have hurt him most. He is determined and extremely cunning and calculating. He's able to manipulate and fool people. Remember how he told 3 different people who he was marrying Myrcella to in order to find out who was spying on him. He came up with the plan for the battle at Blackwater bay. He threatened his cousin and got him to spy for him. He's very resourceful and strategic, he reads people well and predicts their intentions.
Daenerys Targaryen: I didn't ask him to be my Hand, simply because he was good. I asked him to be my Hand because he was good, and intelligent, and ruthless when he had to be.

Being a Ravenclaw isn't just about being smart and reading books. If that was the case, Hermione would've been a Ravenclaw, and it's not a coincidence that she's not. Hogwarts houses are more about the core values and personality traits of a person, not just their likes and dislikes. It's more complicated than that.
Early Lisa Simpson had Ravenclaw traits. However, as time went on, she showed more of a Slytherin side. She constantly throws her intellect in people's faces and can't stand someone being better than her. She even tried to sabatoge Bart when he showed musical aptitude.
I'd say Homer and the Simpson children are all Slytherin, tbh. Marge is the odd one out being either a Ravenclaw (She's shown to be quite intelligent, creative, wise and witty), or Hufflepuff.

Because the criteria they are putting here for Ravenclaw is it's stereotyped image and doesn't take into account any of the other qualities that make someone a Ravenclaw. Wisdom, creativity, thinking outside the box, individuality, being open-minded, innovation, resourcefulness, acceptance of different ways of thinking and being, wanting to know something for knowledge's sake not to gain anything else, etc. Ravenclaw was never about just intelligence, and it's definitely not limited to book smarts. There are a lot of different ways to be smart. Book smart is just one of many. The more accurate representation of Ravenclaw would actually be Luna, not Hermione. Which is why Hermione isn't in Ravenclaw. She's smart, but she isn't actually that open-minded or accepting. She thinks in a linear, conformed, by the book way. That's not as Ravenclaw as people tend to think. Yeah, Ravenclaw is definitely the least known of the houses if everyone outside Ravenclaw thinks Hermione is an accurate representation of the house.

I absolutely agree with you on Tyrion. The man had ambition all his life, the knowledge he acquired was to serve his ambitions and to prove himself - both to his father and the people of Westeros - which is inarguably a SLYTHERIN trait. This is even more clear in the books, but in the tv show as well, evidenced by his love for Shae being overshadowed by his desire to remain in power, and his decision to stay in politics to serve Dany, rather than lie low in Essos the rest of his life as he could have done. He liked the game, and he liked that he was GOOD at it. He says this, VERBATIM, to Varys.
I think people are kidding themselves when they try to say Tyrion was interested in knowledge just for learning's sake. As if being a Slytherin is somehow a detraction from his character; if anything, he's a wonderful example of the GOOD Slytherins can be capable of, turning their wiles to a righteous cause... It didn't go terribly well for him in the final season of the show (he made a series of dumb decisions that further weakens his case of being a Ravenclaw, imo), but his ambitions were ultimately realized... and that was framed as a triumph.

Ravenclaws do NOT follow order and structures, we are creative, witty, wise, and we look at everything on a deeper level and we question things often.
We do things our own way and look at the world with different perspectives then most. It's usually because of this that we are seen as quirky or even as oddballs, yet we don't care because we are often a few steps ahead of others.

Unpopular opinion: Belle is not a Ravenclaw. She's a Gryffindor. Her song is about not wanting to adhere to the mundane lifestyle of the village folk, and finding adventure. Spencer is smart and the most clever of the group. The girls would have been dead without her intelligence.
I did see her being in Slytherin. She is the most ambitious of the group. She knows what she wants and doesnt care what it takes to get it. Also to be a Slytherin, not only you have to have smart but cunning and ingenious. She is quick thinker and is an overachiever and isnt afraid to show it.
As for Gryffindor. She is the bravest, valiant, and nerving. Was the only one who isnt afraid to stand up to Allison when she was being a bitch. She stood up to Mona after she almost killed Hanna. Has her friends back and isnt afraid to face big A.
I feel like Tyrion is Slytherin. He read to sharpen his mind so he could use his knowledge as a weapon, and when he became hand of the king he found that he loved playing politics and outmaneuvering others. He’s not just book smart, he’s cunning and manipulative. Just because he’s not a bad guy doesn’t mean he can’t be a Slytherin, and just because he reads books doesn’t make him a Ravenclaw.

Bit disappointed on the list really. Ravenclaws aren't just bookworms, they're inventive and sometimes bit eccentric people who think outside the box. Tenth Doctor for sure was a great addition but it kinda feels like you don't really grasp the concept of this house.
I know a character who's witty, inventive, and eccentric, but I don't think she counts because she isn't human.
I get that most Ravenclaws are mostly bookworms and knowledge seekers but what about the creative Ravenclaws? Why weren't they featured?

How about Top 10 Villains Who Are Definitely Ravenclaw? Bad guys whose atrocious deeds are driven either by a desire for forbidden knowledge or by intellectual superiority.
Here's my Top 10:
10. Vizzini (The Princess Bride) While you may argue that he lost that battle of wits with Wesley, he did put much thought into where the poison was. He would no doubt have no trouble getting into the Ravenclaw Common Room.
9. SkekTek (The Dark Crystal) The Skeksis Scientist is not driven by power like the rest of his fellow Skeksis, but by his lust for using science to defile nature, either by draining Gelfling and Podlings of their essence or by creating the Garthim. In the end though, nature won over science as the animals he experimented on got their revenge on him and pushed him into the fiery pit beneath the Crystal.
8. Sideshow Bob (The Simpsons) This character loves nothing more than using his brilliance to exact his revenge on Bart for foiling his deeds. He's actually someone I sympathize because he's brilliant, cultured, and sophisticated, but he lives in a society where such things are spat upon while those who are lazy, sloppy, and ignorant are highly rewarded. He would probably be not so evil if he found his true people in Ravenclaw House.
7. The Scarecrow (Batman franchise) Dr. Jonathan Crane is a psychologist who specializes in phobias and developed a fear toxin that makes people relive their worst fears. It's actually his fascination with fear and love of the study he puts into it that truly drives him, and no doubt he'd be an expert in dementors and boggarts.
6. The Brain (Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain) This lab mouse desires to conquer the world simply because he thinks that his superior intellect would make the world a better place, and thus he spends every night coming up with a new scheme to put himself into a position of power. Unfortunately for him, his brilliant plans are often foiled by his psychotic sidekick, Pinky. You think he'd be smart enough to find better help.
5. Saruman (The Lord of the Rings) Some might argue that he's more Slytherin material, but Saruman has the scientific genius that would put him in Ravenclaw, as his treachery towards his fellow Wizard Gandalf and the Free People he swore to protect was born from his isolation from the rest of Middle-Earth as he took residence in Isengard and spent decades of research and experimentation. This Wizard would definitely make a great Hogwarts Professor, or a rival of Voldemort.
4. Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man franchise) Once a brilliant nuclear physicist and engineer, Doctor Otto Octavius was driven mad when his robotic arms fused to his spine and took over his mind when the inhibitor chip he used to control them was destroyed. One of the webslinger's most intelligent and difficult enemies, Doc Ock is only interested in his scientific experiments and doesn't care how much damage they'll do or who gets hurt in the process.
3. Grand Admiral Thrawn (Star Wars Rebels) Probably one of the smartest things the people at Disney did since they bought Star Wars was make this character canon, as he's one of the most popular Star Wars characters outside of the movies. Thrawn is constantly studying his opponents, not just their tactics but their history, culture, and art. He looks at the bigger picture and analyzes every little detail. If he were in charge of the Death Star instead of Tarkin, he'd probably be concerned about an exhaust port that led to the reactor. He already sports the Ravenclaw color with his blue skin, and he'd probably give Ravenclaw the best Quidditch team.
2. The Riddler (Batman franchise) Edward Nygma is one of Batman's smartest enemies, as he is constantly challenging the World's Greatest Detective with puzzles and riddles only to prove that he is the smartest person in all of Gotham. As a Ravenclaw student must answer a riddle to be allowed into the dormitory, the Riddler would find his home there. Heck, he'd probably ask tougher and more deadly riddles to his fellow Ravenclaws.
1. Brainiac (DC Universe) "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure" is the Ravenclaw motto, and if that's the case, Brainiac is richest being in the universe. Brainiac collects the knowledge of different worlds and shrinks the greatest cities of those worlds before destroying said worlds (in some continuities, he was even responsible for the destruction of Krypton). Brainiac does this simply because the fewer who share this knowledge, the more valuable the knowledge, and thus he wants to be its sole possessor.
Being a Ravenclaw myself, with all of these smart but twisted minds, I worry about myself.

Oh yeah. I would say that Dr. Spencer Reid is definitely a Ravenclaw. Now, Tony Stark I'm not so sure about. He could easily be Slytherin as well. After all, Ravenclaw and Slytherin do share some qualities.

She stood up to Gaston, kicked him out of her home, and willingly gave up her freedom for her father; she chewed the Beast out when he screamed at her. She also went into the dark forest, not knowing what would happen to her; just to find her father.
*2: She's chivalrous*
She's very polite to the townspeople and Gaston (until he tries to throw her father into an insane asylum and coerce her into marriage)
*3: She reads for fun and to escape reality*
She says herself;
"Daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!"
*4: She craves adventure and to explore the world*
"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere, I want it more than I can tell!"

When she was in the forest, after the Beast saved her from wolves, she could've escaped. Instead, she took him back to the castle, and tended to his wounds. She showed bravery and courage in doing that. (Not to mention, she tried fighting the wolves)

Any sane Ravenclaw would try to make something to escape. Not her. She stayed until the Beast scared her. Even then, she still stayed after that.

I am a Ravenclaw, but with Slytherin undertones as I was sorted into Slytherin many times when I was a kid. I love to write and read, but I often have difficulty getting into a book. The last grate book I read was good omens. I write and draw as a creative outlet and my job as a nurse has be solving puzzles on a daily basis. I love the thrill of the hunt for answers and the satisfaction of knowing that I have the power to advocate for my clients. I may be a smarty pants, but I also have personal integrity, don't give much of a shit what anybody thinks or weather Im liked by others and am more likely to see a person for who they are than for what house there in. Not all Slytherins are bad, not all grifindores are good at heart, not all Hufflepuffs play fair and not all Ravenclaws are inherently intelligent.
