Fantastic choice Luke! Been a fan of Will Oldham ever since the first Palace Brothers album came out in the beginning of the 90s. This would definitely be in my top 5 of his if I ever put together a top ten list. Good interpretation of the lyrics Trey.
Trey, I tried saying Bonny Prince Billy ten times, I couldn't say it more than five times without stumbling with the words. Lol But seriously, this does appear to be a very somber ballad with soft music.. Your comments on the music are accurate on the piano and guitar and a heavy feeling. The lyrics are dramatic. You are right, many people put on a fasad. Your explanation of what the lyrics mean is so well explained. I agree thoughts can be bottled up, dealing with darkness and depression, and the importance of community and connection. I feel like I am at a counseling session listening to your comments. Great job Trey and dramatic song choice Luke.
Very good reaction. This actually would have made a great 'song battle' with the Jiohnny Cash version, which I prefer just a little bit due to Cash's voice, and perhaps a little bias from knowing it first. Another great track from this album is 'Death to Everyone'.

Great tune and reaction. This may be my new favourite “BPB” song. I have a few of his albums but not this one…yet.
Glad you liked it Trent!
This album is phenomenal! A Minor Place, Today I Was An Evil One, so many great songs. I hope you've heard them all now.
