As I grow older, this song means a lot to me. This LP has been in my top 5 LP's all of my life, but as old age sets in, it's a song that has me reflecting back to long ago, watching Roy and Dale.. Brings a tear to my eyes..
My first CD back in the day was the Carpenters greatest .. my 2nd was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road .. Elton’s ability to create music from the words of Bernie Taupin is beyond words .. simply fantastic
Roy was part of my life as a kid growing up. Elton was part of my life as a teen. I've watched this vid 3 times. I'm 63 now and it makes me tear up every time.
Now at 63, this sounds as good as it did back in the day.. Hope my Buddies and I can get together one more time and Sing this together.. It won't be Pretty, but it'll be like the old days...
Very, very, very beautiful! By the way, this song is soooooo beautiful, a hymn! Like everything Elton John does. Love for all life! Forever and ever! ❤️❤️❤️🇧🇷
I cried too! I always thought it was because I'm so old (86), but maybe not. Pretty much everything makes me cry these days. This video is really great, well put together. I've been a Elton fan for years, but somehow never connected with the Roy Rogers song till now. I saw his movies when they were new with my grade school friends. It's a poignant connection with Elton and Bernie this cowboy movie thing. Sweet. Gotta love TH-cam.
This video was great. I have always loved this song. I grew up watching Roy Rogers on TV. Grew up on horses, loved Trigher and loved Elton John music. I had this cassette when I was in the United States Marine Corps, 73-77. You take care of yourself self.
I miss those pre cable TV days, watching an old B&W movie in the dark, a sandwich a nd a beer on the side. Oh well these are newer times, I guess things are still good, just not as simple.
I actually KNEW this man.....Mr Roy. I can show you where he lived and where he rests(next to Dale). I can tell you stories about how much he loved to bowl at Victor Bowl, in Victorville, Ca. His "Roy Rogers' Apple Valley Inn" that had the best prime rib in the valley. How much he detested being called "Leonard" (his real name was "Leonard Sly). But behind all of this was what everyone writes about - the TV star that always did what was right. His museum was in my hometown for the better part of 40 years before it was moved to Branson. I have a connection to him that goes beyond the norm. And this song pays tribute to him like no other. I got to meet him and Trigger once......and they are still with me.......47 years later.....
I'm 75 now, but, when a teenager, I only knew Roy Rogers from fan magazines and comics' covers. Same for Gene Autry. Problem was, American films running less than 75 minutes very rarely shown in cinemas outside the US.
I knocked on his door late one night and he answered with a shotgun in his hands. Nice people though. Mid seventies, he had no gates or security that we could see.
Essa música é uma máquina do tempo com poder para te transportar pelo universo do tempo. Um verdadeiro hino para pessoas nostálgicas e adeptas da boa música como eu.
Just discovered this and another video of Roy Rogers by Elton one of my favorite all time artist! I can't believe it took me this long to find them. I remember Roy well, Trigger and of course Bullet! I have tears in my eyes from fond memories.
Great memories as a kid. Loved watching The Roy Rogers Show. Also I had this cassette of Elton John, wore it out playing it when I was in the USMC 73-77.
Grew up with Roy, literally. My father was camera on most of the movies, and almost all of the TV shows. Bought 20 acres in Apple Valley, stayed at the Inn many summers. I used to climb around on Deadman's Point 5-10 years old.
I never thought I would get so many responses by making a simple statement about this video! I never knew there were so many Roy Rogers and Dale fans out there. I feel not so alone now.
This is a masterpiece. Clips of Taupin in his youth (was that Tiny Dancer with him in one?) and Elton performing it when he was older. This makes me cry. Probably my second-fave from the LP.
