  • The Esee Izula is a classic compact fixed blade, that can be worn as a neck knife, or on a holster. At 2 Ounces, and a 2.5 inch cutting edge it's a great size for your Bug Out Bag. Whatever the hell that is. This review covers the ergonomics, shows some light use, and features dad jokes.
    You can buy it here to support my channel:

    Correction: The overall length reported in the video is wrong. I meant 6.25 inches or 15.87 cm overall

      It seems a little thick for such a small knife. That's really my only complaint about it. I feel like the sharpened pry bar survival knife era needs to come to a close.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah you can, if you leave one screw out. Forgot to mention- oops! I never cared much for a horizontal pull- but I don't like neck lanyards either. I prefer the pocket carry.

      @ejaculationsniper8651 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mora Companion with the sheath clipped to the front jeans pocket is great if you want a medium sized fixed blade without the love handle poking or a massive pig sticker slapping your thigh. Can even reach inside your pocket with hardly any knife-pocket capacity interference. Moras and Rat 2's are knives that I keep buying duplicates of so I can give them away and/or have backups!

    Just bought an Izula 2. Always appreciate the grounded reviews you provide. Yes, I know it's not the same knife you review here, but isn't that internet survivalists do? .....impulse buy stuff after watching a youtube video........hence the term "influencer".........and you are a bad one my friend.......or is that good? Either way......I don't actually have the knife yet as I just ordered it from Blade HQ ten minutes ago, but I already know it's amazing because your dry english wit told me so. I freakin love this knife.........oh wait......I didn't actually finish the checkout process. Ok there, I own one now. Anyway, nice review.......I bought a T-Shirt from you too. Wait......this video is 5 years old? That's ok.....when I get my knife I'll sharpen it with my Wicked Edge Pro 3 and it will be so sharp it will slice through time back to 2017 and tell my other self to buy this knife sooner.......wait how did this Izula get in my pocket?

  • @moparhemi1777
    @moparhemi1777 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The edge of mine rolls everytime I put it into its sheath. There is way too much play for the blade and the contact area with the cutting edge is 90° and doesn't flare around it like it is the case with individually fitted kydex. I personally can recommend this knife for a few reasons: It is very lightweight for the toughness and makes a good survival kit knife, you have plenty of options for the handle including numerous types of cord wraps (if you think about getting it just for cord wrapping I'd say go for it) and when the excellent warranty is considered the value is kind of there. Though I think you have to buy an aftermarket sheath or make one by yourself if sharpness is a concern (which it should... I mean it's a knife). Oh and I wish ESEE would have gone to a higher hardness on this tiny knife... 1095 at 58 to 60 HRC is still plenty tough for this size and would have helped with edge retention and probably decreased the rolling of the edge in the factory sheath.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mopar HEMI yeah... a ton of mounting options. Mine however does not edge roll in the sheath... I’ve used it a bit since he sent it to me... and while it hasn’t been razor sharp- it has maintained a good working edge the whole time. I plan on sharpening it soon, but it’s been fine for my mostly light use.

    • @moparhemi1777
      @moparhemi1777 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This issue could have been enforced by my pocket carry for a few days because there is way more force applied to the blade and sheath package than there would be if I'd just carry it on my belt in some random configuration. Still a huge problem for me because I am one of those obnoxious Edge Pro guys with mirror polishes and hair whittling edges which obviously leads to aggression and an abandoned knife.
      I see the Izula coming in handy when the primary blade is too fragile or expensive to do the dirty work like light prying. For the time you don't need it it waits in the backpack or so. At least in theory.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mopar HEMI yeah I’m not an edge pro guy... I just run it across my fingers until I reach the unscientific “good enough” metric. It’s a good backup knife- and it will live in the car camping kit along with the eldris.
