I think she means "you" as in "the relationship". Saying she is sane and has always been ok until this relationship turned into a nightmare because of something he/she did that is haunting her. Yes it is something you should be able to control, and you could go to therapy (should actually, after something like that.) but I believe it is clear the problem isn't the "you" part, but the hurting and nature of the relationship.
And when you fall, really fall for someone it’s not that easy to just forget, let go or lose feelings.
