  • On April 28, 2015, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell proclaimed it "Officer Daidap Day" during a special ceremony led by HPD Police Chief Louis Kealoha for 5-year-old Wish Kid Daidap. This young warrior, battling a life-threatening heart condition, wished to have his own police car so he could be a police officer, but he had no idea that he would spend a whole day with Honolulu's finest and get "sworn in" alongside his brothers in blue. At the day's end, Daidap returned to his Honolulu neighborhood where the whole community came out for a surprise celebration, honoring him as the neighborhood's newest safety officer where he will patrol in his new police car power wheels for years to come!
