    That's a really cool spot, hope you catch something interesting on a trail camera there. Thanks for the video! Breaking down the area like that looks really helpful. I just found beds on an old logging road too lol. Not really what I expected either but kind of fun to find.

    I've been hunting one. I've seen 2 deers. I always wanted to do it, but always to much work, to less money, yak yaking wife... I had changed my ways and I do seriously prepare myself for hunting in 2025. I have gear, I'll make time and I made my research for grounds. This guy gives a golden , practical advices. I watch everything he uploads. Most of those experts do videos for money only. In this case, author knows exactly, what he is talking about about and explains in the easiest possible way.

      Glad you are taking the time to get ready for your hunt next season. I really do believe preparation starts when the season ends. For me, it's finding 5-6 new areas each off season and figuring them out before September.
      I appreciate you and your kind words.

    I’m going to look at bigger areas for next season. Thought I found some killer spots for this past season, but were overrun with pressure once season started. It’s a balance though- I’ve got small children so getting the free time to scout farther away is hard to come by. Blessings from your MN neighbor.

      I know exactly what you mean. I also have small children - getting away to scout is hard. I'm thankful I get to call TH-cam my part time job because of that.
      Good luck scouting this off season.

    The video quality is awesome, and it is a really clear good choice for the camera. The biggest issue I have with big woods hunting is that the deer density per square mile is really low . If hypothetically the deer density per square mile would be close to farm land habitat, big wood hunting would be awesome.
    I seen big woods bowhunters who do still hunting to cover more ground like the wolves do. It takes more skill would ever consider this hunting method for big woods hunting ?

      I don't have any plans of still hunting with a bow in the big woods. Such a low chance of succeeding.
      I agree, the deer density is lower. However, once you find a nice area, like the one in this video, you'll definitely see a decent number of deer. I go for miles without seeing anything and then all of a sudden, tons of sign appears.

    How could you tell the bedding from the swamp and clear cut in an arial photo? Those all looked the same to me

    • @RelentlessSportsman
      @RelentlessSportsman  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Good question.
      I found out that it was a bedding area by putting boots on the ground and walking through the area. Soft transitions, typically between a marsh and higher ground is almost always bedding for deer in my area.
      I did not make that aerial map in my thumbnail until after I scouted the area. I take in depth notes as I'm scouting and map out and area using OnX.

    How could you tell what the deer bed was? Was it just... the deer got snowed on and the ground didnt?
    Is there any way to tell what a deer bed is if it didn't snow the day before?

    • @RelentlessSportsman
      @RelentlessSportsman  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      In the case of that random deer bed in the video, yes. It was shaped exactly like a deer with no snow in the middle of an old logging road where there should have been snow.
      It's not a bed I really care about because it was probably used once and random at best.

    So to find the habitat you look at arial maps?

    • @RelentlessSportsman
      @RelentlessSportsman  หลายเดือนก่อน

      To start with, yes. I first look for vast sections of public land, if I am specifically focusing on big woods.
      Then I look for as much diverse habitat changes as I can find within that public land area. Then I search for a water source to separate me from other hunters.
