    True hydration comes from water. My natural hair started to THRIVE when I washed/cowashed every 3-5 days. And I wash my scalp AND my hair strands (gasp!). It’s refreshing to see a TH-camr who isn’t obsessed with slip and isn’t afraid to wash her hair. Love it.

    Exactly. Every head of hair is different. Also, I wash my hair every 4-5 days too. My scalp stays itchy and will become irritated if I don't keep my hair moisturized. Also, I've tried to use oils and not any oils on my scalp and still remains the same. Learning my hair is a work in progress. It may be because of my health issues while I have trouble with my scalp and or hair? *SIGH*

    Ain't this the truth! Do what works for you and your hair/scalp. I have dry hair but an oily scalp. Like you I can not got more then 4 days with out washing it, but I can only oil my scalp when needed (usually in the winter time). My hair was falling out from the roots. It was the excessive oil that was drowning the root or hair follicles. My oils don't run down to the hair due to my texture so it builds up on the scalp. Washing my hair every 3-4 days has worked for me . Along with good moisturizers for the hair. You sis, have managed to figure out the balance for your hair and scalp and that's good. I'm still struggling with the dryness of my hair. 🤷🏽‍♀️

      Figure out your porosity then go from there. Certain products, ingredients and product application methods work better when you have low vs. normal or high porosity.

  • @Juanagohome
    @Juanagohome 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    When people ask why I don't do this or that to my hair, I always refrence them back to you because my hair needs simplicity. My scalp breaks out, easily irritated so I can't do all of that stuff lol. Plus its fine, bye! I learned to leave it alone, wash it 2x a week and keep it simple.

    My scalp is the absolute boss, of my hair care regimen. Doesn’t matter if my braid outs are on point, twist outs on point, this that and the other... if my scalp is upset it will ruin any and everything. I can’t push passed day 3. I workout five to six times a week, therefore wash day is every three days. Any longer and I have to take extra time to de-tangle and I lose a lot of hair in the process. Because I wash so often, clean products are a must!

  • @curlynella1011
    @curlynella1011 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    That's why I don't get why people with natural dry or tighter hair don't expose their hair to more water because that is when you get the most hydration. Most do every 2 weeks or more and I'm like your hair is super dehydrated and that's why it's harder to separate. But people preach the more they leave it alone the better, yeah for you but not your hair. But 🤷🏽‍♀️ let them keep struggle. Keep big chopping until you figure it out 💯🤪

    • @rdaliz
      @rdaliz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This has become an issue for many naturals. I thought the same way until I finally figured out that for my hair ingredients and washing and cowashing midweek were necessary. I have to admit I have managed to make it to five days with great moisture retention. Honestly I also feel that during the summer months and if you workout you hair will need more water! So yassss girl, if that works, thank you for sharing for us!!

    • @theqveenbe
      @theqveenbe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I can agree with this. While I don't wash my hair that frequently, my hair gets sprayed down with water daily. I've noticed my curls are a lot healthier that way.

    • @denyshadials5702
      @denyshadials5702 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Right. When people ask what I do about dryness and tangles, I tell them I hop in the shower. Then they want to tell me they don’t have that they don’t have the time. People don’t want to experiment so they don’t realize difference of detangling hair that’s 3-4 days old as opposed to two weeks old...it doesn’t take that long. Anywhere near that long.

    • @theqveenbe
      @theqveenbe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Your comment about not always listening to other people and following their routines instead of listening to your own hair is the greatest piece of advice you could give anyone in the natural hair community. Took me five years to realize this and finally my hair is thriving with less. I was over moisturizing the hell out of my hair and putting products that high porosity / dense hair tutorials were suggesting when my low porosity fine / sparse hair was dying because of it. Do what works for you. Thank you for saying that.

    May I suggest not dipping directly into the macro tub? With there being just so much, it will take you longer to use it up and having the lid off and dipping in it may contaminate and/or have it dry out too fast. Perhaps take some out an put it in another container so the big jar can stay closed up. Just a thought. Thanks for the great content as always.

    Hey sis! I love your videos and your personality! Another great and inexpensive clarifying shampoo is Cantu Cream Cleansing Shampoo. It removes all of the buildup and dirt from your hair without completely stripping it. I use it on my clients hair if they have major buildup on their hair and scalp.

    I was trying to let my wash and goes go for 5 to 7 day ... 😢. I was getting matting ... tangling ... single strand knots... then I was thinking I’m not manipulating my hair what’s the problem 🤷🏽‍♀️ . Finally something went of in my brain 🧠 ... hold up u can’t do that , u need moisture ... u need to finger detangle every 3 to 4 day 🧐🥰

    Jesus Christ is coming back. He loves you dearly and calls for you to come back home to Him.
    that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
    He calls for repentance and belief in the Gospel. It’s time to fully surrender to Christ. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

    You’re gorgeous and I love your hair! I also suffer from dry scalp, and you’re absolutely right.. it’s rare that you hear of naturals who wash their hair more often. I’ll definitely start listening to MY hair. ✨👑

      @@denyshadials5702 My hair is just below my collar bone, and is color treated 4c. Which may be why I have to wash it so much, but I noticed less shedding, less knots, more length retention, and faster hair growth when I went from washing my hair once a week to twice a week.

    Awesome results. Question, how do you have your hair when you sleep? I would like to try this style but I’m afraid of messing my hair up over night. Also, do you get a lot of single strand knots with this style? Thanks for the video🙂.
