Hi Gris, I just caught up with your videos for the last couple week, sorry to hear about your brother.
Interesting as always particularly about the air vents, very helpful.

I know you’re retired and probably don’t see comments on your old videos, but I’m wondering two things: putting vents in after 4 or 5 layers- do you just puncture through the back of the vent when the mold is done to get through the first few layers? Also, how do you handle making a mother mold over vents? How do you leave room in the mother mold for the air to escape when pouring?

Oh I still check the comment and hope to start vids again ,I'm just as busy retired as I was working lol .Yes, you are correct just locate the vent from the inside and carefully cut away the thin layer of rubber. You just glass right over the vent, afterwards you will drill a small hole in the glass where the end of the vent is .You will know when you have a good flow when your mix starts getting forced through the hole.Hope this helps ,and thanks for your question.

About the vent: When you apply that small piece of mag paper and straw, you latex over the paper? What happens to that piece of paper, isn't it now trapped in the latex?

Yes it is ,but it will have no effect on your rubber or casting. It can be removed when you wash your rubber molds in warm soapy water, let it soak and the magazine paper will get soft and you can remove it then. Sorry I missed your question earlier.Good luck.😃

Well ,there can be many many reasons for this happening. What are your molds made from?Rubber? It can be your mix ,how you put it in the mold ,do you vibrate?Give me some more info and I will try and help you out my friend.

mrconcreteartisan I use foil tape for seams.. It works fine, and I don’t use key holes.. You do a lot of intricate work, which is awesome! I’m not that patient 😂

I know this is an old post (I'm not stalking I promise 🤣😂)... anyway, if you add an air vent, say, 5 coats in.... how do you create the hole through the previous 5 layers? I know it is probably the dumbest question as I know you'd probably stab a blade through it, but I was wondering if there is a technique that works best? Simple poke hole? Crosshairs? Etc. Thanks.
