  • Hi, everyone! Today, I explain what the Brown University video portfolio is and why I submitted one. Enjoy!
As part of my application to Brown University this year, I was given the option to submit a video portfolio, which is essentially like an alternative to the traditional college interviews that most schools do. I did not get the option to do a live interview due to the limited availability of alumni volunteers, so I made this little video instead. In the previous video, I shared my actual video portfolio, and in this one, I'll be breaking down how I approached it, which I hope will be helpful to everyone applying to Brown next year that chooses to do the video portfolio! I was accepted to Brown University through Regular Decision (RD) this year, and you can check out the video where I shared my college decision reactions below.

The video portfolio was really stressful to make, but it was pretty fun tbh.

Should I just talk about one aspect of me and explain it's significance? U think that's a good start?

this year’s applicants have to do the video portfolio because brown isn’t doing any interviews this year :( do you have any tips for someone with no editing experience whatsoever? (except for a short superhero imovie film in 5th grade)

im a student at brown who did the video when applying and got in. I didn't use editing or extreme cinematography... I literally sat in front of my laptop webcam and just spoke and was authentic. I thought it wasn't enough to get me in but brown really just wants to know you as a person. I was even asked to give permission for admin to present my video to visitors! Don't worry about it too much they care more about the info in the video than aesthetics..

It's okay to not have any editing experience! Content matters most here, in my opinion
