Hello Sonia, welcome to India. you can ask ur mother in law to take antacids like omeprazole for 2 wks , sometimes while lying down the acid comes up and causes cough, also due to high pollution this continuous cough might need antibiotics, if doesn't improve then u can get an x ray done to rule out any lung disease after consulting with a doctor.
