I can't even remember the last time I purchased tomatoes from the store. If I can't garden and grow my own, I just won't have any. Last year, I tried to make fermented green tomatoes. For the most part most part they ended up being okay to eat; but, the ones that I thought were a bit odd tasting were the ones that had barely started ripening inside. The green ones that were green inside and out were much better.
My mom used to put green tomatoes on the window sill above the kitchen sink. I will put green tomatoes in a brown paper grocery sack. If I have one, I will also put a banana in the bag, too.

I have 19 indeterminate tomato bushes now. Just harvested about 10 first ripe tomatos from them a week ago. It required a lot of work indeed! Couple of times the seedlings looked purple and were shedding leaves so I thought for sure i would lose them. I had total over 50 seedlings though. Almost all of them survived its just most of them kind of stunted but they are all in the soil now and doing good. My most favourite veggie (imean beery technically) Its so hardy even in Zone 3 we got just +10 C at night and they are so strong! Def will be groqing thwm again. Mountain magic. I will save up seeds from my plants. Basically they are indestructable...

Hi Joe, from Springfield Missouri. I thought any company that pushes the ripening speed on any product is bad for you. When I was a truck driver, I took one load of bananas from California to this East Coast, and when I found out, they claimed that one of the workers on the dock said, they inject some kind of dye or something and each banana to keep them from ripening too fast or are my opinion is that any commercial farmer dead, or in Jack’s dies or a prolong the ripening speed of the product or is no good for you
