Vanagon Camper Refrigerator -- VW OEM Training Video

  • This is a factory training video to train VW mechanics in the 1980s how to service, remove, and operate the refrigerator in the Vanagon Campers. It appears to be essentially an RM182B refrigerator that was installed on years including ~1985 to 1990. This video was made for the factory mechanic to train him. However, it is doubtful any VW mechanic ever watched one of these and it is probable that all Vanagon (T3) owners with a refrigerator will benefit from knowing what is in here. If you are interested in this, you should also consider my article online titled Refrigerator Madness" pretty near "must reading" status. Some listings have this as "Reefer Madness". A possible search query to find it is to search google for this: "Derek Drew" ("RM182B" OR "refrigerator" OR "reefer madness").

I love how we're all here taking this seriously because we want our fridge to work, but this is the iconic type of '80s VHS instructional video that comedians make fun of unceasingly in the 21st century. I love it. Can't get enough of it.
Check out the Pop Copy sketch from Chappelle Show. It is an amazing example.

Thanks a Million! I love this OEM Vanagon video! I want to watch the one for the stove and the rear windshield wiper and the Drive 1 and 2 fears that I never use! The worst part was when he said you were supposed to use a flue vent cover every time you washed the van. I had no idea of course until I saw this, I feel enlightened and wish I saw this years ago! I am fascinated by this video! Over the years I have asked different mechanics how the fridge and stove work, they aren't sure they said, and the family we bought her from said they never used them except for a liquor cabinet, so I have never used them. But now I don't know if I really want to so maybe I will remove the fridge now that I learned how! EVerything he did I was like: WHAT? That's what that is? That's how you do it? That's amazing! That's easy to do! Sincerely, KR

No mention of how to actually service it
