On Chris...oh Chris!! Keep that can away from your mainline winding in! You have brought back memories of the night I had something big in at Abbotsbury ...my fav touched the line and "ping!! " The memory still keeps me awake after 20 years!!!
Hi Colin lovely to hear from you!!! Predictive text strikes again but I know what you mean 😂😂😂 I knew a salmon angler playing a big fish with a cigar when the end pinged the line!!! Chris is sponsored by Benson & Hedges though!!! Anyway thanks for watching hope you enjoyed the video Cheers Ian
Hi Tom so nice to hear from you again! A fantastic time of year as you say…. That feeling of anticipation when the rod signals a bite and you genuinely can’t be certain what it could be…. Brilliant!! As you know Chris and I tend to fish for what we can realistically expect to be in front of us rather than target one particular species though I was definitely trying for a bass!! Hopefully we will be down Christchurch way late august/September and will pop into the shop for a chat if that’s ok Tight lines cheers ian
@christchurchanglingcentre5428 oh yes!!! If you’re free maybe we could have a dabble together??? I will let you know in advance when we are coming if you like??
Hi mate yes a lovely bass… I was actually more pleased with the Huss but unfortunately it was covered with weed on the way in so didn’t get a proper fight from it Stay safe cheers Ian
Hi Nick yes the sound of the surf hitting the pebbles is mesmerising and quite often sends me off for a snooze when the fishing is slow 😂😂 tight lines to you too mate cheers Ian
Hi Bob lovely to hear from you! Yes very pleasing and enjoyable time on the big beach and the weather behaved for a change thankfully!!! Thanks for watching cheers Ian
Another fantastic video as always gentlemen. Always love your video's. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Tight lines and please keep them coming 😊
Hi Steve lovely to hear from you as always. It’s my pleasure to share our adventures with you I’m just pleased you enjoy them! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers Ian
Hi Mike yes hopefully many more videos in the future…. I do sometimes find it interferes with my fishing but having nice comments like yours makes it worthwhile in the end. Thanks again for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Love the sound the sea makes as it breaks on the shore, very soothing, and to have caught some random fish even better, enjoy everyday and the company, hope you have many more, and thanks for sharing a lovely session.
Ah thanks so much for your kind words!! Like you I love the sound of sea on pebbles!!! Think Chris and I will probably be fishing there until we physically can’t!!! Hopefully many more years…. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers Ian
Hi Glen yes the bass was a lovely end to the session…. I cast 30 yards to my left but didn’t hide my headlight so was surprised when the ratchet screamed off…. My first decent Chesil bass this year. As always I really appreciate your continued support cheers Ian
Hi Enjoyable video, as usual, nice session, especially the end, stoking bass finish, plus the nine overall species Trust Chris will have a long and healthy retirement Go Steady Regards Derek
Nice surprise to see one of your videos pop up after a busy day . Looks so nice down south, its been horrendous up here in southern Scotland . What a great range of species you got Ian . That was a lovely bass you caught at the end . Well done indeed . Always appreciate your videos and looking forward to seeing another episode pop up . Hope Chris can indulge himself in many more hours on the shore and has a wonderful retirement . Tight lines and best wishes .
Lovely to hear from you! I was watching the open golf in Ayrshire and the weather was horrible!! Chesil… you never know what you’re going to get next!! Funnily enough I’m retiring in a month too so more fishing with my mate!!!! Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to comment cheers Ian
Many thanks for your kind words much appreciated! I’m joining the OAPs in a couple of weeks too so Chris and I will hopefully get together more often…. If Mrs C approves 😂😂😂 tight lines mate cheers Ian
Great stuff. I was there yesterday for a few hours but only managed some mackerel - no bream or other species showing (for me) although plenty of weed…Guys in the tackle shop said the mackerel aren’t what they once were so I think I did all right to get a few!
Hi lovely to hear from you!! Yes the weed at Ferrybridge has been awful recently it’s a real pain!!! Well done on the mackerel we have struggled all year only getting a few for bait. Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Thank you! Interesting about the mackerel - I wonder what the cause is - maybe climate change, or perhaps overfishing? I’ve only had them in any numbers this year off Chesil when I’ve been there super early. Which given that I live in London means living home literally in the middle of the night. But the Dorset coast is a nice change from the big smoke.
Hi Nick…. Unfortunately we are both the wrong side of 65 ( I know we don’t look it😂) but fishing definitely keeps you young and relatively fit!!! As always thanks for watching cheers Ian
Hello Ian, my fishing is exclusively lure fishing for bass on the Waterford coast Ireland, mostly at night preferably 3 hours before sun up, I find that most of my bigger fish are in really close in the darkness, some hits come just two rod lengths out, like your fish, great fun on light tackle when you hit into a monster.
Hi lovely to hear from you! I’m sure lure fishing at night is an extremely exciting way to catch bass…. Occasionally I will lure fish on Chesil at first light when we do an allnighter with varying success…. Best when the whitebait or sprays are in. Do you find a surface lure better in the dark as it makes a wake??? Cheers Ian
Wow what a way to end the session. Pity the Gurnard weren’t bigger they would be great to eat . Did you keep the Bass ? . Stay safe and tight lines.Mike
Hi Mike yes I kept the bass… the first one I’ve kept this year it was delicious on the BBQ!! Like you I love gurnard and the oily fish more than bass but Mrs C prefers the white fish!!! Was nice to get a nice fish just before the end…. The ratchet screamed off… brilliant! Take care mate cheers Ian
sorry about the late comments ,i have been out chasing the carp again ,and watching your vids on a phone does not do them justice ,i prefer to view them on the big screen , so im now on catch up , this was a nice chillout session by the looks of things , one question ,will chris take up more fishing now he is retired ,ATB les
News alert Les…. I too have just retired after 42 years as a pharmacist so hopefully we will be fishing even more often…. Provided Mrs C gives me a permission slip 😂😂😂😂 Did you get any decent carp??? Good weather for it I suppose??? Cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishing yes i did ,i broke my PB after trying for over 7 years it weighed 30lb 12oz, yes the weather was proper BBQ and BEER time lol .ps now your retired you will do more work than when you were employed 😂

@yeager913 just seen that tuna yesterday 100 yards off Chesil at Ferrybridge….. now they can eat a lot of mackerel!!😂😂
Ah, that explains it! Now that would be a serious catch…
@yeager913 👍🎣
good to see you took the pensioner out for a trip 🤣. NIce as always Ian

Soft plastics spun slow as you can or a slim profile hard shallow diving lure again spun slow, I can't emphasize the slow bit enough.
@gosnest thanks I will have to give the night a try sometime soon!!!
