This is because of the importation fees and taxes plus the profit margin of gun stores. You also have to take into account the cost of firearm registration and the permit to carry. A Glock 19 Gen 5 will cost you around $590 per unit in the US but if you buy the same gun in the Philippines the price will be roughly around $1200 per unit. Twice as expensive!
