  • February 27, 1990 - For 43 minutes, Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon made mincemeat out of James Edwards and Bill Laimbeer, racking up the majority of his 37 points, 25 rebounds, and 5 blocks during that span. However, it was Dennis Rodman's defense and Isiah Thomas' clutch offensive theatrics that would ultimately render Olajuwon's performance null and void. The Pistons wiped away a second half double-digit deficit and ultimately emerged victorious in overtime, 106-102.

Idc what anyone says, neither Duncan, Shaq, Russell, and especially Kareem is doing it like this. Shaq had Kobe and couldn't handle Rodman or a lesser '04 Bad Boys team; so I know he's not handling Rodman/w The Original Bad Boys. Moses Malone showed how to play Kareem, now imagine what a whole frontcourt of Malones would do. Duncan needed Parker and Ginobili to beat the lesser '05 Bad Boys, and Russell didn't have the offense to beat them. Olajuwon's best teammate on the court was a solid defensive power forward. He wasn't a #2 player, but above average. Now for you Jordan fan boys who say Jordan's 6 over Olajuwon's 2, Jordan and Grant would've gotten massacred without Pippen; and if you swap Jordan and Olajuwon, Jordan and Thorpe isn't getting out the west while Olajuwon and Pippen alone would win Jordan's 6, add in Grant, Rodman, Harper, and Kukoc; you tell Me the results. And Houston also, wouldn't be the team to have Chicago's number. Jordan wouldn't win 1 ring unless Olajuwon took off for a year and a half, and Drexler came to help. Position for position, Jordan is #1 & Olajuwon is #1(Idk enough about Wilt to assess accurately); Jordan just had the better team as did everyone else I named.

    • @Cotswolds1913

Parker and Ginobili were role players in 2003, Parker couldn’t have a beer yet, and Manu was a rookie. 2003 Duncan has the second highest % of a championship team’s playoff win shares, at just under 35%. 2000 Shaq is #1.

@@Cotswolds1913 It's a well established objective fact that Olajuwon had the least help of anyone to ever win an NBA championship. There isn't any point in debating whether or not the sun is yellow. Now whether or not this constitutes the foundation for a debate that so and so is better than so and so is just a lot of blah blah blah. There were certainly other players with better careers than Olajuwon. However, Hakeem probably did have the greatest peak of any basketball player in history.

I hear what you're trying to say. However, I disagree with that assessment. When you wait that long to pass the ball with the clock running out, all you can do is shoot immediately. You know that. He didn't have time to make a power or skill move. All you can do is shoot the ball as quickly as possible, or risk time elapsing. Now, if you wanna argue, he had the time. That's something different. But Rodman wasn't the issue on that shot (as we can see), time was. But I hear ya, you wanna big up Rodman.
