Thanks for the trick, I need a function generator for a project but as a broke college student I dont want to to spend any money. Its even cheaper for a android user though, only $6 for the cable, and the apps are free.
Good. That's not really noise though on the square wave, it's a lack of harmonics. It looks like they are just using the fundamental and the first 4 or 5 harmonics in the square wave series. BTW, that Tek 465 was more the price of a pretty nice brand new car when it first came out. Especially with that DVM option.
I bought a func gen from Amazon and have an old text tonic scope. Don’t know if techtronix scope 2225 50 hz will wk? also not sure of correct hookup? I did buy that desolder suction from hanko!! so I’ve gotten pretty good at using a voltage meter and soldering and D soldering the boards and replacing the cap but I’m not really sure about how to use the FunctionGenerator’s and the oscilloscope to check distortion but I’ve got a collection of pioneer 1250s Macintosh 4100 receivers 2300 amp 2205 ,MX 110 and the MR 78 tuners a bunch of old Macintosh to 225s and M 22 . like to learn more about how to use the FunctionGenerator & scope if my scope will work. Geez so many buttons
@@vintageaudioaddict I bought an old Tektronix 2225 from a guy I know for $40. I also bought the Apple Lightning to RCA cable. I think I am missing an adapter, however for my oscilloscope. It has an extension cable (BNC to BNC), an adapter for BNC to male prongs, and an adapter for BNC for female prongs. I think I need an adapter for BDC to RCA? Do I feed one of the RCA cables into the BNC or both?
I can't use the app as my phone only has bluetooth for sound or wifi to share audio. Ok, for any phone with a headphone jack, but that's being phased out.

Also see: Jim Burns. He really tares them down, and he's a funny guy in his own way.
I would be interested in seeing the iPhone signal distortion if it was streamed via bluetooth to a DAC?
That's for another day.......LOL
how do you feed the two AUX inputs of the left and right channels? direct ?
I have a iPhone. Yes, straight from the phone to the aux ports using a lighting to RCA cable.
