I have the same issue with my weddings sometimes, couple wants one thing- their guests want another... I usually side with whoever is paying me. Always killing it DJ Barr!
The challenge is always trying to satisfy a large crowd of multiple demographics. It’s almost as if you have to develop a musical “6th sense” but you killed it as usual!!!
I’ve been a mobile DJ nearly 30 years and I still find it a challenge trying to please everyone at events like that, but you smashed it as always! Greetings from over the pond! 🎧🎤😎
Nice gig log, and when ever someone tells me they only want a specific genre I always ask if they believe all the guest will like to dance that genre of music, so of course when they say no I always tell them if you would like for them to have fun as well is it ok if I mix it up a bit that usually works.
Good job as always Barr. I have had same issue where couple request house music, but don't get that dance as full as I would like. Once I start to mix in some cumbias, what a difference maker, eventually I go back to house later in gig. Always like your set ups Barr. Be safe bro.
perfect tip and conversation at the end of this video. The balance is tricky but at the end of the night as long as everyone was having a great time and floor is poppin', people tend to care less about their wants and needs if they see and hear that everyone is involved some how
Great gig log!! Set up looked extra crispy. Sometimes us DJ’s have to put our foot down for the benefit of the reception over all. At the end of the night our advice proves correct and all the guests including the bride and groom are extremely happy
What up DJ Barr! I DJ'd from 1980 to 2003 and hated, hated playlists at weddings for the same reasons you just spoke about. What the young couple wants to hear is not what the older folks want to dance to. Try dealing with this issue in Miami with crazy Cuban brides. Many times the bride would come to me and complain that no one was dancing and I'd say, do you trust me, if so, let me get off your list and play my stuff and you'll see the dance floor get packed. That's why I enjoyed club mixing because I could just lock myself in the DJ booth and jam. Oh how I miss it. Stay Safe out there. Mixmaster Mendez out!
Question: During your introduction Christian does your music... what About your lights during the whole wedding... pre programmed?? Or you have someone else on the DMX You probably already have a video about it Thanks
Fire wedding Barr. Prepping for my 2020 wedding season at the moment. Do you staff someone to run your lights for air stream dmx or are you managing it while djing? I want to program some simple scenes to use for intros but would you recommend using sound active mode during peak dance hour to focus on the music?
Great gig Ima fellow DJ. the struggle is real.. What I do I push the bar hard real early play high BPM songs (get em thirsty) so that later you can play arm pit farts and rock the house. That's an old trick from the 90's.....you rock brother..
Great gig log, what I do is, no matter what the play list looks like, I always ask can I play requests. So when I go rogue I say it was a guest request.
Love your videos man! Congrats on all of the success, and I hope it continues!! I've been DJing in Metro Detroit for 11 years and I've been handcuffed with playlists before. I decided to give couples a sheet in the wedding planning for Must Plays, Play if Possibles, Do Not Plays, and Request Only. I tell my couples "I allow 7 must plays. These are the songs at the end of the night, if I didn't play them, you're crying in the corner because I didn't play it...for me, it'd be Mr. Brightside. For genres, artists, and songs you like, put in the 'Play if Possible' list. I lean towards that list, but if people are dancing to something else, let's keep them dancing." My couples have liked and appreciated it. Helps them priorities what songs they definitely want. I also remind them that any song they request at the wedding goes top of the order.
Can you post your playlist - this is the area I struggle with the most. Finding the hook that catches people and gets the room grooving. I realize that the it gets better once the alcohol kicks in. but hearing what other dj's play will help to putting together a solid starting list.
I love your taste of music and being someone that grew up in the disco days. I mix it up based on the crowds age a country medley ad well as a fifties sixties keeps the older happy. But 8Os keeps the floor full. Pitbull I have yet to hear on your videos
great sound selection. great party.. I thought at one point it as a EDM party. You read the crowd great.. I agree go ROGUE... I do it and it work.. you have to entertain the people...
Love hearing about the challenges of getting a floor packed THROUGHOUT the evening. Here's a challenging mix for you: American/Colombian wedding. Have to mix swamp rock/classic rock with vallenato/salsa/merenge and keep them on the floor. It would've been easier with zydeco and vallenato, but, still.....big challenge!! Keep it up!
Yet again another smashing gig and vlog Bayardo! Great setup and you are abseloutly right about clients playlists being difficult, after all it is their day but may I say it is best to compromise well before the date on music. Also new haircut looking very fresh - Bryan
I’m playing my first wedding in a couple of weeks, luckily the bride provided me with some pretty open format music. Thanks for your videos they help out a lot
Awesome video Barr !!! Playlists, I do like you. I play what they want but also suggest that they remember all their guests. Play what the older folks might like at the beginning because most times they leave early. Then later play what the couples want. Great Job !!! On another note, what is the name brand of your social media booth?
Never, ever go rogue for weddings with music selection. Honestly, transparency in the planning with the couple is critical. You set yourself up for failure if you don't try. Great video BTW. DJ Barr, who did you get your screen from for the projector? Was that Colorado Sound & Light also?
Great set DJ Barr keep up the vlogs there great for us new djs getting in the wedding business i have a question you mentioned where to get the props and mention your name for a discount please send me a link and i also watched your bpm supreme bc thats what i use and learned a few things man you are killing it.
Hey Bayardo, long time subscriber and fellow mobile DJ here. Just getting into hanging TV's and wondering what program you use for your TV graphics if you don't mind sharing.
Bar... Great video.. Question for you. I play at that venue all the time. Where did you pull electric from being set up over there? At that spot there is only 1 outlet behind you. I know you needed more than just that one? Also what are you using for graphics?
I always compromise with the couple but will never let them dictate to me what to play. I was asked once to play dance music only at a wedding I said no i still end up doing the wedding and it was wicked they thanked me at the end of the night.
Its definitely always a challenge to balance. Usually the bride and groom are receptive on this issue, only once have I had them just say "Thats fine they can leave early" lol

Great video and set up.PLEASE post a copy of the song list played for the night since you were referring to blending it with the heavy hip hop!
Good job as always Barr. I have had same issue where couple request house music, but don't get that dance as full as I would like. Once I start to mix in some cumbias, what a difference maker, eventually I go back to house later in gig. Always like your set ups Barr. Be safe bro.

I like that you have a social booth and an ld system for small venues
Could you make a video on power management? How do you make sure not to overload your gear? Thanks!

That would be ProPresenter!
Or Resolume

Your info! One question, which software do you use for the TVs? Love that.

Very nice set up but one thing I noticed, you didnt do any music vids?? With a proj & 2 screens u should have rocked some music vids!!
Great setup and log... What software are you using on your TVs....
How early do you get to these type of gigs with this setup?
Super Clean Setup! You Definitely Put In Work Loading Your Gear Up Solo! #TheMostChallengingPart
Never, ever go rogue for weddings with music selection. Honestly, transparency in the planning with the couple is critical. You set yourself up for failure if you don't try.
Great video BTW. DJ Barr, who did you get your screen from for the projector? Was that Colorado Sound & Light also?
Great video. What speakers were used for the event?
Barr you killed it Bro! What do you use to create animation of the monograms, that looks so dope!
Great video man! Where do you get that backdrop for the photobooth?
Hey brother would you mind posting a link to the backdrop folding stand that you used for your photo booth? Would really appreciate it, thank you 🙏🏼👍🏼
With your sub set up like that, how do you avoid people placing drinks on it?
What software do you use for your video control? Arkaos?
You set up all that solo in two hours? Wow, man, I could never do that! Kudos!
Great set DJ Barr keep up the vlogs there great for us new djs getting in the wedding business i have a question you mentioned where to get the props and mention your name for a discount please send me a link and i also watched your bpm supreme bc thats what i use and learned a few things man you are killing it.

Thanks for the awesome work!!!
Great video as always Barr! Just one thing...your four podiums with the moving heads on, are the covers stretched? They don't look as neat as usual 🤔
Great video as always.... but if you can help me with the software you use for your tvs... appreciate you bro
Hey Bayardo, long time subscriber and fellow mobile DJ here. Just getting into hanging TV's and wondering what program you use for your TV graphics if you don't mind sharing.
How many camera do you use at events? Trying to make my gig log better... what tripods you use?
Bar... Great video.. Question for you. I play at that venue all the time. Where did you pull electric from being set up over there? At that spot there is only 1 outlet behind you. I know you needed more than just that one? Also what are you using for graphics?
You should mix the song videos on the TVs while you DJ. And the songs you don’t have video you can use the bride and groom backdrop

I always compromise with the couple but will never let them dictate to me what to play. I was asked once to play dance music only at a wedding I said no i still end up doing the wedding and it was wicked they thanked me at the end of the night.
sometimes I wish I was an american ! so great and huge ! LOV IT !!!
Its definitely always a challenge to balance. Usually the bride and groom are receptive on this issue, only once have I had them just say "Thats fine they can leave early" lol
