Badass !! I just bought a 1972 Great Dane 28’ French built boat getting it ready for epic adventures… love your channel
I found your channel recently and have been working my way through your episodes. You've chosen a fine, and clearly very seaworthy, boat in Safar and have set her up nicely. Have a great winter and I look forward to seeing more of your travels in 2024.
Thanks Ian! Glad you’re enjoying the content. I’ve always been fond of long keel boats for their sea keeping qualities. Safar never feels too over pressed or too lively, yet with a good blow she’ll rival most boats out on the water. All the best, Morgan
Another good episode Morgan. You put me to shame :-) I hope the winter goes well for you and I look forward to seeing a bit more of your voyage later. Best Wishes .... Dave
I've loved watching your videos and really looking forward to seeing your next adventures. Having my new to me moody launched near the end of march and undergoing my own adventure, so hope to catch up on your uploads in the evenings then :)
Nice sail mate look forward to your return for more adventures fair winds
Great effort I really enjoyed your passage to the Canaries. I undertake similar sailing passages on my boat Momentum in the southern hemisphere, sailing from Sydney down to and around Tassi and return. You’ve motivated me to now produce more of my TH-cam clips of the passage. Thx
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ll subscribe to your channel now and check out your videos. I’ve not done any sailing in the southern hemisphere yet, but spent plenty of time there on ships with work (Including a cyclone in the Torres Straits) Hope you get a good summer on the water! All the best, Morgan
Living the dream, balancing fun and work. I'm slowly getting there. Look forward to your new adventures.
It’s certainly tricky getting the balance right, I’m lucky at the moment as my work Offshore is on rotation, so although I’m away frequently, I also get longer periods off allowing me to head out with Safar for prolonged periods. All the best and hope to catch you next time!
Just found you recently. I have in joyed it. See you next season.
Glad you’re enjoying the journey so far! Hope to catch you in the new year. All the best, Morgan
Nice one Morgan great work and footage. Wish my Mum was here to watch your vids mate, she'd be stoked. Big love, Rory
Brilliant! Well done
Glad you enjoyed this one! I’m excited to get back out there again in January!
Great boat! Great sailing!..Thanks!..look forward to your next passages!..
Thanks Robert! I’m already very eager to get sailing again! Catch you in January.
Great video. Will the handsome carpenter be returning in the new year?
Cheers! Have a lovely holiday (and work) season coming up. Thanks for posting excellent content of your journey.
Really appreciate your comment and glad you’re enjoying the journey! Hope to catch you again in the new year. All the best, Morgan
I’m so in love with safar, what a great boat. If you ever have the heart to part with it, please tell me. Thank you for the amazing videos.
Thanks Peter! She’s definitely a head turner. No plans to replace Safar just yet, but there will come a time that I look for something a little larger. All the best, Morgan
Great video man!! I just found you, your channel will grow a loot, pretty soon!!
Really glad you enjoyed it! So surprised at how well the channel has done so far. Looking forward to getting back out there and continuing the adventures!
Nice one. Pretty cool Safar beat the modern Sea Pearl in, though I'm not surprised the Saga 36 is a fast powerful boat! Don't work too hard man, see ya soon.
Thanks Curtis! Safar certainly becomes competitive when the breeze picks up! I see 2 Saga 36’s are signed up for the GGR26 would should be interesting! Hope you’re well and all the best, Morgan
Just recently found your channel and went thru all the videos. Looking forward to next season
Thanks Edward! My channel is a little bit slow as I don’t get to upload weekly, but really glad you’re enjoying it so far! All the best, Morgan
Another great episode can't wait for more next year.
Glad you enjoyed it! I can’t wait to get back to Safar, 2024 is going to be a great sailing season! All the best, Morgan
Great video mate, Safar is a beautiful boat. I'm living on board my boat in Ireland after a transatlantic circuit and dreaming already of going again, you're helping fuel those dreams! A question; you mention setting your radar to come on intermittently, what radar do you have? I have a B&G halo and couldn't find any way to set up this functionality. Cheers!
Congratulations on completing the circuit! Its no easy achievement. I’m hoping to do it with Safar. I have the Raymarine Quantum 2, the function is called “Timed Transmit Mode” Which basically puts the radar to sleep after a sequence of scans and wakes it again after a preset interval. I would think B&G would have something similar as they’re generally the best instruments money can buy.
varnish on the inside looks awesome man
Well you know, I’ve got to keep my eye in incase I go back to Cockwells 😉
Thank you for continued great content. Look forward to more in 2024
Glad you’re enjoying the adventures so far and appreciate the support! Catch you in the new year. All the best, Morgan
Another great video and thanks for posting. I lived in Tenerife for a few years and know San Miguel marina as we lived in Los Cristianos and looking forward to your next sailing voyage in the new year 👍
Thanks Alan, I haven’t had chance to fully explore Tenerife yet, but I was certainly happy with the temperature there, I’m looking forward to a nice mild winter. All the best, Morgan
This is my second video of yours, I was convinced it was a Victoria, but reading your intro I realise it is not. Beautiful sail boat.
ps: look forward to next year.
Thanks Maesy! Victorias are great boats, Safar Is a Saltram Saga 36, there was only 15 made, so not they’re not widely known, buts she’s a very safe and capable boat with a good turn of speed in a blow! All the best, Morgan
Really nice! -- QUESTION -- We love watching you sail. You present very well. We were thinking, initially, of getting an Alberg 37 or maybe a Cape Dory 36, but some people say the Alberg is too narrow and that all that overhang creates a weird movement at sail. Your sailboat seems like it is much wider and fuller than the Alberg but I don't know anyone who has been on both the Saga and an Alberg... Any thoughts between these sailboats? Is yours more seaworthy and does it sail better?
Make sure of your keel bolts.😊
@@sailingsafar Thanks for your comment. I'm South African but lived in So cal for 9 years. I sailed a Catilina 30ft from Marina del Rey. It was my uncles yatch and he showed me the ropes,so to speak. I worked part time for Gallion G underwater maintenance in the the Marina and the condition of many yatchs was rather frightening. It's all about maintenance and more maintenance. Once a year you would dry dock the yatch to clean, paint and serious inspections. It's a whole science. Yeah, great times. I'm back in South Africa but miss California. My beautiful daughter is there. She coming to visit in April 2024. God bless you my Bru. You take darn good care as I do.
SAIL OFF THE EDGE OF THE WORLD????
Where are you?
Good to see you again🫡🫡🫡 as always, really enjoyed that episode 👌👌👌 I need to buy a boat now😂😂😂 I learned a lot watching your videos. Thanks for that mate.🫶
Haha glad I’ve inspired you, having boats is a slippery slope, once you get one you’ll never not want one 😅 All the best and I’ll catch you in the new year 🙏
Hope you guys enjoyed the last episode of the season! Safar is tucked away in Tenerife, while I'm currently away, working onboard an 80m ship until mid January. Look forward to catching up with everyone in the New Year. All the best, Morgan
