Okay...I know you're probably already further on Patreon, some might comment on parts of this and this will get way too long for you to read, but...frick it, this is my passion, and you asked some questions. So I will explain a bit of Duck-Lore here. Without Spoilers for the Show, of course. Basically, I try to answer three questions: What is canon according to the Ducks, why are the nephews with Donald, and whatever happened to their parents. What is canon? Actually...nothing official. The shorts started it all, but then there was a succesfull newspaper comic strip, that codified a bit - but the comics always did their own thing, with every author playing loosely with the canon. A few things remain staples, of course, like Donald being the Uncle to the three, etc, but even canon stuff can get mixed up and get changed. For example: The newspapers invented a Grandma of Donald, who is still canon, however some italian authors used her as Scrooges sister - even though she's one generation above him in regards of Donald. For italian comics, that is canon, others have it differently. That being said, hardcore fans single out two authors as being more or less THE canon authors: Carl Barks (from around the 50es) and Don Rosa (90es/2000es). More on them in a moment. Why do the Nephews live with Donald? The nephews were invented for a short. In it, Donalds sister "Dumbella" sends her sweet little angels over to her brother for some bonding. They then proceed to take apart his entire house. This short proved so immensely popular, that the nephews started to become permanent fixtures in Donald stories (though mellowed out later). I think the newspaper comics went on to explain it, by saying, they pulled a prank on their dad, which resulted in him being hospitalized. Their mother, now called Della, stayed with her husband and couldn't take care of the kids - so Donald stepped in. Eventually, the stories, shorts and newspaper had the kids living with him permanently - without any true explanation. It's kinda been hinted, that their parents aren't alive anymore, though obviously, that was never spoken out aloud. However, with time Della and her husband became forbidden characters to use for authors - and to my knowledge, that was only ever broken twice since these early days: A short dutch comic tried to explain Dellas absence with her being an astronaut (sure...), and...then there's Don Rosa, who broke some other ground as well. Again, more in a moment. Carl Barks Barks is THE Duck-Man, and basically the author most can agree on as being the basis of the canon. He invented a good 70% of the regular characters in Duckburgh, including Scrooge McDuck (who originally was a direct copy of Ebenezar Scrooge). His stories were also the main inspiration of the original Ducktales. He didn't fully adhere to a canon, though (his early Scrooge was notibly different, before he Upgraded him from One-Of Relative, first to supporting cast, and later Main Protagonist). He did however create a family tree to keep track of all the characters he invented. Don Rosa Rosa is a MASSIVE Barks-Nerd. As such, when he got into the business, most of his stories leaned on, or were outright sequels of popular Barks stories. His strict adherence to that "canon", made his stories canon to Barks-Fans as well - and in fact, he did a lot of work to explain plot holes in Barks-Stories. He was so popular, that he was then tasked in writing a Comic-Biography for Scrooge McDuck. These were The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, which explained his humble origins and rise to money in 12 stories, to which he later added a number more. He fitted in as many of Barks facts as he could (only reluctantly sorting out stuff that contradicted itself), had everything occur according to real life events - and won awards with it. That book was required reading for everyone working on the sequel. Don Rosa also got a hold on the Family Tree Barks made and drew an official version himself. This tree showed the first canon look of Della Duck, as well as Donalds parents Quackmore Duck and Hortense McDuck - who were also forbidden to use by writers. And, since he drew a ton of stories set in the past, he was also allowed to use them as he pleased - except for the triplets father, for some reason. He only used Della as a small kid in two stories, and she never said a word, but he made ample use of Hortense. And he was actually allowed to show people of that family DIE, as both of Scrooges parents did during the story. Matilda McDuck Scrooge also had a sister, Matilde, who...was an odd case. Barks had her in the family tree, but she never appeared in a story. I think she was supposed to be married to Ludwig von Drake...but her just being in the tree was enough for Rosa to canonize her, use her in the past - and actually, with one of his last stories, bring her into the present, as the new caretaker of Castle McDuck. So...where are Hortense and Della? According to Rosa, both passed away, which is the official stance of Disney, at least regarding the comics. Hortense and Matilda had a BIG falling out with Scrooge, just as he became the richest man in the world, and Scrooge only later rekindled his relationship to Donald and the nephews (and later Matilde). According to Rosa, he only met Della once, barely took notice of her, before Hortense took her kids away. He was never allowed to use them in the present, though, or explain anything more than that. So...that's why they were never used.
HECK YES!!!! This is the show that I'm madly in love with!!! Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House are great and I love them. But Ducktales will forever have my heart.

Love this show to death and wish it had at least one more season. Interesting trivia bit, all of Anime and Manga owe their existence to... Disney Duck comics. No lie, it's been documented and is a very interesting story. Basically post war Japan was very into westernization at that point and America was happy to sell them whatever. One export was Disney comics. Duck comics being so out there and kind of serialized, kind of not, inspired the Godfather of Manga Osamu Tezuka to do his own. He's the creator of Astro boy, which if you keep up with the series circles around. But anyway if you actually read his work, you can see the inspirations. Long and short, he created such beloved works that he essentially created the genre of Manga. His comics were later made into TV shows, and the history only grows from there.
3 of you are pretty much talking constantly over the episode while the fourth is sitting there quiet and focused on it nearly continually. This amuses me.

Matilda McDuck
Scrooge also had a sister, Matilde, who...was an odd case.
I love Ducktales so much omg
HECK YES!!!! This is the show that I'm madly in love with!!! Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House are great and I love them. But Ducktales will forever have my heart.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS IVE BEEN SPAMMING THE COMMENTS WITH DUCKTALES SO MUCH AND IT HAPPENED!!!!

I just realized you’re also doing Ducktales reactions omg. Okay so this is kind of like TOH where everything progressively builds up and stuff. It’s hard to go on a rant about how great this is without spoiling it so just hang on because this show is definitely worth the watch.
I definitely thought infinity train would be next but this is good too
Yooo yes I love this show Dewey is my favorite
I always used to watch this haha
Awesome show and really fun to watch
Well its cool you're doing this. Though bit of a shame since I'd written up a nice little pitch to sell you on watching this series. Ah well. I'll scrap it and just send the other three in the list today.

Adventure Time - ( 9 seasons, 4 HBO specials, countless shorts. Getting a follow up series. )
It's the story of Finn the Human and Jake the Dog in the crazy land Ooo. It's a mysterious and magical place. Where all manner of villains reside and adventures are to be had. Kingdoms of Candy people, desolate outlaw wastes. Evil wizards with eyes for royalty and monsters from beyond the stars. So an aspiring hero like Finn must learn to grow as both a person and a warrior to meet this challenges.
This one is a titan of modern animation. It starts off slow and kind of silly, but evolves into such an experience that I've seen grown men cry at the final episode. This is a show that knows how to build characters, set a world and leave the audience wanting more. Plus the show was so popular its actually getting a spin off that'll be out sometime in the future.

Kid Cosmic - ( 3 seasons. )
The show follows Kid Mulligan, a young boy with big dreams of becoming a superhero. He lives in a junkyard with his grandfather Papa G out in the middle of nowhere America. Though they aren't alone. They have a small, sleepy community that mostly consists of a garage, some trailers and Mo's Oasis Cafe. Not a place where much happens, until...
This little Netflix show is short n sweet, but packs in a lot of heart and some fun characters.

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts - ( 3 seasons. )
Kipo's once peaceful life living underground is shattered when she is flushed from a sewer pipe into a world shes only heard of in warning and fear. What the world above has actually become she doesn't know, but the poor little Burrow-girl needs to get back home before she falls pray to its deadly threats. Giant scorpions, Death-bushes and Bees blaring techno are just some of the mundane things threatening her life.
Now Kipo is kind of a trip. It has its up n downs and I hope you like a touch of musical flare since it pops up now and then. Though mostly its the characters and strange world that'll keep you hooked.

Yes!
This is going to be good.
