      Dear Elijah,
      Thank you for your comments in your recent post. However I found your tone to be very aggressive and accusatory. Are you not aware that there are real living human beings behind these accounts, people whom Jesus loves? If you want to have a conversation with us about this we can do that, but there is no need swoop in and make attacks and accusations.
      As for 1 Peter 2:9 I must disagree that Peter is speaking only to Israelite's. In fact if you look at just the next verse in verse 10 you will see that Peter refers to "we who were not a people that are now are people of God” clearly indicates he speaking of the Gentiles.
      “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” -1 Peter 2:9-10
      Peter, in chapter 4, goes on remind the reader that they are done living like the rest of the gentiles, and the worldly gentiles will "think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.” Further evidence of his Gentile audience.
      Also this is not the only time the church (made up of Jews and gentiles alike) is called God's "peculiar people"
      Titus 2:11-14 makes this clear. Christ allows all men to be saved and Christ calls them unto himself as peculiar people.
      “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” -Titus 2:11-14 KJV
      Please understand my goal here is not to diminish the importance or the role of Israel in God’s plan. God made an unconditional covenant with Israel through Abraham that the land of Israel always belong to them. God made an unconditional covenant with David and there will always be a member of David's family on the throne. I look forward to the day when God ushers in a literal new Jerusalem and puts the literal descendant of David, Jesus Christ, on it to rule and to reign.
      The Church and Israel are two different things, and there are many promises yet to be fulfilled made to the Jewish nation. But it is God who has chosen by His wisdom and grace to allow Jews and Gentiles to make up His church who He makes “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.” We steal nothing, we only have what we have been given.

      My tone that you never heard was accusatory, also it answered your misunderstanding of 1peter.
      The we who are not a people but now are a people of god is quoting Hosea 1:9 about the northern knongdom of Israel;
      Hosea 1:6 and she conceived and bear a daughter, and god said call her me Lo-ruhamah: for I will noore have mercy on the house of Israel ( northern kingdom); but I will utterly take away.
      1:7 But I will have mercy on the house of Judah ( southern kingdom).....
      1:8 now when she weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and bear a son.
      1:9 Then God said call his name Lo-ammi: FOR YOU ARE NOT MY PEOPLE, AND I WILL NOT BE YOU'RE GOD.

      Deuteronomy 26:18 and the lord avouched thee this day to be his PECULIAR PEOPLE, as he hath PROMISED thee, and that THOU should keep his commandments.
      26:19 and to make thee high above ALL nations which he hath made
