Apparently Carrie Underwood was sorta responsible for making Cobra Kai popular back when it was still on TH-cam Red as she tweeted to her fans that she loves the show, so the showrunners decided to give her a cameo as a thank you.
NAH it was popular cause the show was hot fire and everybody watched at least the first karate kid once, and the season1 was a great introduction to a timeskip sequel of the arc
Robby when he goes full-on Karate Terminator is one of the most brutal and awesome fighters in this series. Shame we only see it when it's against the good guys so far.

Yeah, Dimitri really did an amazing job with his kama kata! The Kamas are the sickle like weapons he was using. Also, really liked seeing Sam using the Sai's since that is my favorite weapon from Okinawan karate, ever since I was first introduced to them thanks to Raphael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
One thing that I noticed that no one is talking about is the difference between Aisha and Devon when they both get knocked out of the tournament. In season 1 Aisha is more upset and storms off while here Devon gets more hyped for the next tournament. I think it could be showing that Johnny is becoming a better sensei
Yeah. I think it's because her and Johnny resonate with each other more compared to the others. Devon is also used to competing, albeit in debate form, but I'm sure she's taken her share of losses and knows it's better to brush it off and focus on the next competition. Aisha I can imagine has had a tougher time with being bullied so losing stings more, and the Cobra Kai teachings probably got her lashing out at her loss.
I read a comment that said that Eli never kissed a girl before, only Hawk. That is why kissing moon as Eli was so important for confidence and character development . Pretty good detail

I've been waiting for a month to watch Nikki's face when Miguel cries out for Johnny in the end. 😄 Yes, cousin Vanessa from last episode is Ralph Macchio's daughter Julia Macchio (any similarity with Julie-San is not a coincidence - her brother is called Daniel). The whole scene with her was to recreate the vibe of My Cousin Vinny's Marisa Tomei character (Amanda mentions her) in which Ralph also starred. I entered a karate tournament last November. A member of my team, 16 year old girl, hurt her foot during last practice before the tournament. She was heartbroken. Because of that she missed the tournament and her graduation that would be in December. These injuries are hard on the competitors to recover, both physically and mentally, because they just wanna give it their all and are suddenly left out over something they couldn't control.
Similarities are coincidental since Julia was born in 1992 and The Next Karate Kid came out in 1994. Also, Ralph addressed the coincidence with his son's name--Phylis loved the name Daniel and it just coincided that her husband's most famous character role was named Daniel.

Last November was 2021. 😉 At least here covid was well under control at the time, and still everybody had to be vaccinated or have a test in the last 24 hours - and of those vaccinated, part of them (25% of the public and 50% of the athletes) were selected at random at the event to make a test on the spot. Not one of those tests came back positive.

Some of the actors/actresses got so good at karate they had to stop training because they were improving way faster than the storyline and it was starting to show on film.
The fight choreography is seriously better than a lot of “AAA” big budget movies out there. Especially for regular actors and not professionals/stunt people

Yes and she did the favor because like the head of the tournament board said he fixed his tooth. Lot of people missed this connection. So her being there just comes across as random. Her singing moment of truth for the fight montage was just okay to me. Not great. Not Terrible. Just was.
You guys would love Bodyguard (Show) It stars Richard Madden and it’s really good, the finale was the most watched premiere for any episode in the UK ever and it’s spawned a lot of love for him to become the next James Bond. Traditional Martial Arts are so much like what is portrayed in the series. So many are still stuck in the my way or the highway style. Even over the last few decades have proven many pure stand up martial arts dont work in a combat setting. ie ufc, many havent changed their teachings or beliefs. Ego def is a huge thing not only with the teachers but with the students, just check out many martial arts message boards and you will hear what "really" works arguments all the time.
In a way what Sam told Daniel was sorta the same thing Robbie told him, though perhaps not from the same place. Sam took both styles and used them to make her own. Robbie is willing to use whatever he has to use to win. They have different reasons for wanting to win, but in their way they are both right. Using the techniques of Eagle Fang, Cobra Kai, and Mayagi-Do respectively produces fighting styles of their own and makes them stronger fighters than they otherwise would be just using one style.
Exactly it kind of annoys me that people love to dismiss Robbie as a jerk that trying to get back at Johnny. He was the most logically character this season, but everyone chose to see the worst in him because they love Johnny. Johnny abandons him his whole life and then because he doesn't like Daniel or Kreese bad mouths them when they both have made him into the fighter is. Everyone was say "well Kreese is going to break him" and he didn't because Robbie not that gullible like Tory, Hawk, and Johnny were. He knew he had daddy issues, but he let that fuel him into being a better fighter not taking his anger out on other people.
This episode feels like a wink and a nod to the movie “Sidekicks” with the late Jonathan Brandis. It was released in 1993 and was essentially a “Karate kid” rip-off, but it also featured skills in the final tournament very similar to this. Plus, they called back to “Ladybugs” in an earlier episode. The only good thing about “Sidekicks” weee the reenactment scenes from Chuck Norris movies.

0:56 Totally agree. I thought the course correction away from his over-the-top unfunny comic relief in Season 3 was such a good thing, so I was very disappointed to see him playing any kind of a role in this season.
I don't understand how Kreese was allowed to enter this tournament, because Cobra Kai had a Lifetime ban on them due to him. Why in the 🌎 did Daniel and Johnny not let the "Karate Board" know that❓️
Daniel probably got the big "2️⃣-Time Champ shout-out", because Lausso's Autos are a major sposnsor at The All-Valley Tournament, & he is a member of the "Karate Board". So, that is probably why he is mentioned, & they don't mention Johnny. As far as I know, tgey really dont ever give shout-outs to anybody else.
Daniel gets more sanctimonious and annoying as this season progressed. A win's a win. So what if Sam went on the offensive? The enemy knows the Miyagi-Do playbook; the best way to counter is to use a different style.

It is a good thing Daniel is trying to change attitudes now. When my oldest was 12 he got into pot then by the time he hit 14 he made napon and took it across state lines. He was caught and became a felon and was on probation. I had to change rules majorly. By the time my oldest was 16, he was a high-school dropout and moved out to his step grandpa place. He is now 20 and he won't say that he had it good with me but his attitude has changed in a way that says he is sorry. Great job with your channel. I love what you do in your reactions.

You know I just noticed that the cobra Kai students has committed the least amount of crimes this season. We have just the assault charge for shaving Eli's mohawk and Robby murdering Kenny in front of everyone this episode
Interesting how Kreese's advice to Robby when he was fighting Kenny was basically the same advice Johnny gave to Miguel before he fought Eli, which was despite them fighting their friends, they must show no mercy and win the match. It's the Cobra Kai way.
I think Miguel realize that. I think Miguel is going to have problems with Johnny. The first all valley, he wanted Miguel to show mercy. In season 4, he wanted Miguel to show no mercy. The only difference between the two is the fighters. Miguel believe that Johnny wanted them show mercy to Robby only.
I think the reason that Daniel was so against mixing miyagido with Cobra Kai is because when he tried it under Terry silver it really traumatized him. So he's never seen someone come at it from a healthy perspective
The thing with Krees' reaction when Terry beat up Johnny, i think is that, you know, even tho they fought multiple times and all but i think from Kreese pov he were doing good for Johnny and even their fights were part of that learning process, but Terry's main point was to hurt Johnny and Kreese was not ok with that.
Miguel's writing for this season was a bit disappointing. They nailed down the writing for most of the other characters like Robby, Eli, Tory, and Sam. However this season just felt like a set up for Miguel's arc next season, which is ashame.
I mean , they had to do it . If they didn't nerf miguel , he would've won the tournament with ease which would become repetitive . But i think you're right in assuming that this is a setup for season 5 .
@@static9590 I don't think Miguel was nerfed like many people believe. Miguel was months behind on training compared to everyone else as he had to heal his back whereas Hawk was always actively training for months while that was going on. It wouldn't have been a stretch for the story to have Miguel lose because his emotions affected his performance and therefore lost to either Eli or Robby.
I think that's what they needed to do tho. Miguel needs to find out he didn't need to find a karate role model when what he really wants or at least he feels he needs is a father. Johnny could be that guy but.. Miguel felt odd at that shift in their relationship and feels he needs to find a real father instead of someone who is slow but does want to take on that role, no matter how misguidedly. I think season 5 will be huge in that regard. Their riff on Karate Kid part II with Johnny and Miguel.

In a way what Sam told Daniel was sorta the same thing Robbie told him, though perhaps not from the same place.
Sam took both styles and used them to make her own.
Robbie is willing to use whatever he has to use to win.
They have different reasons for wanting to win, but in their way they are both right. Using the techniques of Eagle Fang, Cobra Kai, and Mayagi-Do respectively produces fighting styles of their own and makes them stronger fighters than they otherwise would be just using one style.
Exactly it kind of annoys me that people love to dismiss Robbie as a jerk that trying to get back at Johnny. He was the most logically character this season, but everyone chose to see the worst in him because they love Johnny. Johnny abandons him his whole life and then because he doesn't like Daniel or Kreese bad mouths them when they both have made him into the fighter is. Everyone was say "well Kreese is going to break him" and he didn't because Robbie not that gullible like Tory, Hawk, and Johnny were. He knew he had daddy issues, but he let that fuel him into being a better fighter not taking his anger out on other people.
I'm with ya Steve when it comes to karate kid part 3 loved it jus as much as the others. They all have a special place in my heart
This episode feels like a wink and a nod to the movie “Sidekicks” with the late Jonathan Brandis. It was released in 1993 and was essentially a “Karate kid” rip-off, but it also featured skills in the final tournament very similar to this. Plus, they called back to “Ladybugs” in an earlier episode. The only good thing about “Sidekicks” weee the reenactment scenes from Chuck Norris movies.
I actually really enjoyed that movie when I was a kid. Ladybugs was fun too, ridiculous but fun lol

Daniel probably got the big "2️⃣-Time Champ shout-out", because Lausso's Autos are a major sposnsor at The All-Valley Tournament, & he is a member of the "Karate Board". So, that is probably why he is mentioned, & they don't mention Johnny. As far as I know, tgey really dont ever give shout-outs to anybody else.

Daniel gets more sanctimonious and annoying as this season progressed. A win's a win. So what if Sam went on the offensive? The enemy knows the Miyagi-Do playbook; the best way to counter is to use a different style.

@@sarveshnathan7559 At least Johnny's methods actually worked; they allowed Sam to defeat Piper and get close to beating Tory. If it wasn't for Silver buying the ref, Sam would have won, thanks to Johnny's teaching.

And Johnny was a better teacher for Sam. Had Miguel not been in such a bad mindset because of Johnny, he would been the favorite to win again. In large part to Daniel's teachings this season.

It is a good thing Daniel is trying to change attitudes now. When my oldest was 12 he got into pot then by the time he hit 14 he made napon and took it across state lines. He was caught and became a felon and was on probation. I had to change rules majorly. By the time my oldest was 16, he was a high-school dropout and moved out to his step grandpa place.
He is now 20 and he won't say that he had it good with me but his attitude has changed in a way that says he is sorry.

Daniel was very frustrating this episode, Sam didn't cheat or fight dirty. He needs to get off his high horse.
You know I just noticed that the cobra Kai students has committed the least amount of crimes this season. We have just the assault charge for shaving Eli's mohawk and Robby murdering Kenny in front of everyone this episode
Blood and Family are two different things. There are tons of families that are blended not only by blood.
Interesting how Kreese's advice to Robby when he was fighting Kenny was basically the same advice Johnny gave to Miguel before he fought Eli, which was despite them fighting their friends, they must show no mercy and win the match. It's the Cobra Kai way.
I think Miguel realize that. I think Miguel is going to have problems with Johnny. The first all valley, he wanted Miguel to show mercy. In season 4, he wanted Miguel to show no mercy. The only difference between the two is the fighters. Miguel believe that Johnny wanted them show mercy to Robby only.
I think the reason that Daniel was so against mixing miyagido with Cobra Kai is because when he tried it under Terry silver it really traumatized him. So he's never seen someone come at it from a healthy perspective
Especially as Silver was actually training Daniel to lose.

The thing with Krees' reaction when Terry beat up Johnny, i think is that, you know, even tho they fought multiple times and all but i think from Kreese pov he were doing good for Johnny and even their fights were part of that learning process, but Terry's main point was to hurt Johnny and Kreese was not ok with that.

Miguel's writing for this season was a bit disappointing. They nailed down the writing for most of the other characters like Robby, Eli, Tory, and Sam. However this season just felt like a set up for Miguel's arc next season, which is ashame.
I mean , they had to do it . If they didn't nerf miguel , he would've won the tournament with ease which would become repetitive . But i think you're right in assuming that this is a setup for season 5 .
@@static9590 I don't think Miguel was nerfed like many people believe. Miguel was months behind on training compared to everyone else as he had to heal his back whereas Hawk was always actively training for months while that was going on. It wouldn't have been a stretch for the story to have Miguel lose because his emotions affected his performance and therefore lost to either Eli or Robby.

I think that's what they needed to do tho. Miguel needs to find out he didn't need to find a karate role model when what he really wants or at least he feels he needs is a father. Johnny could be that guy but.. Miguel felt odd at that shift in their relationship and feels he needs to find a real father instead of someone who is slow but does want to take on that role, no matter how misguidedly. I think season 5 will be huge in that regard. Their riff on Karate Kid part II with Johnny and Miguel.
