1:50 I know this video is 2 years old, BUT Those loops are for molle straps :) There is a LOT of stuff that uses molle straps, that you can put on there. Its really customizable. Molle straps hold on HARD too. I didnt know the bag had these, thats actually REALLY nice to have.
Nice review Farmer I also have the bag on mine. One thing that did worry me was the stealable factor. Until I recently discovered there is a locking mechanism inside the bag itself. If you open the velcro inside the bag and feel inside roughly where the lever is on the outside rear. There is a turntable dial which will lock the bag onto the frame. It's a press and turn feature to lock and unlock. I'm assuming like me you didn't know about this feature, would be a nice addition to your video Anyway Keep up the good work on the channel, especially the scrambler 1200 stuff. Cheers Dean
Like you Dean, I discovered the same recently....so recently that no, it's not in the vid ;( Second thoughts - lets keep that our little secret;) Your right though, my bad.... If you can cope with more there will be plenty to come involving the scrambler - working on an interesting solution to the tail tidy (mess)at the moment but also featuring in my Tarmac Trails series. Great to hear from you - Farmer
There's one on my new-to-me 1200 XC I just picked up. I'm trying to figure out how to bring my photography tripod with me on it. I think those Molle straps on the sides are the key. My camera kit should fit in the bag itself, with snacks. Incidentally, I've been looking for Twirl bars in the US for a while and haven't seen them yet.
Having moved from a large town into the countryside, I now find my Vespa GTS not very practical anymore. This Triumph is on the cards to test ride, I like this bag, simple yet ticks boxes. Great review Farmer, keep em coming.
Good review...the pannier seems pretty good!. Although I always look at the frame brackets and think why they couldn't make them sit a little closer to the bike...same with exhaust I guess. Cheers, Steve
@@FarmerTorque Good to hear! I've got one on order, due at the dealership in July. Side pannier system, back rack, after market exhaust plus a heap of other extras. Wife loves taking little trips on the bike! I've had 2 x Suzuki Boulevard 800cc before but never a bike this big!
Good test thanks. Is it larger than the handler? This is because I'm making cross-lane on high way and I wouldn't want something that is bigger than my handler bar.
Great Review! Just bought a 2019 Scrambler XE and enjoy your reviews and opinion on the bike. Can you tell me what part number the pannier and brakes are?
Thank you but I probably can’t help a lot - shouldn’t be difficult to find the bag at a triumph dealer/online 🤔 not sure what your asking about the brakes
Just checked the settings on my rear shocks as they were slightly harsh and a little bit of high end vibration thru rear shocks...both sets were on different settings .....have now set top compression to 14 clicks and bottom rebound to 17 clicks it has transformed it ..what was great suspension to fantastic and comfortable ...really advise anyone who has one of these to check they are set the same on each !
hi farmer. thanks so much for the video; it encouraged me to grab a rugged pannier bag for myself. i recently purchased a 2019 XE that came equipped with a Unit Garage 3104 rear rack and an SW Motech side carrier that i removed. i just installed the triumph mounting rack (A9510491) to the bike using the included spacers, and i'm noticing a little bit of flexibility or "play" in the rack. does your rack have play, or does it feel pretty firmly attached to the frame? some flexibility is unavoidable, i suppose, but i noticed the spacer prevents the forward anchor point (the beveled one) from meeting up with the frame. all the weight seems to be on just the bolt and spacer then. the install of the mounting kit is simple, and i suppose that's why no one seems to have made a video about it, but it would be helpful to see how the kit snugs to other folks' bikes. thanks for any assistance!
yes should be a twine set up i test rode the bike and loved it But waiting to hear if i can get the exhaust moved so i can add more luggage before i purchase
Great vid again Farmer , the bag is the beez kneez 😊 I have my Vance&hines (the regular one, without the custom bracket) next week and will do the midpipe straight away. Make the heatshield a wee bit longer and make a bracket for the original holder so it's not attached to the suspension. I might give the muffler a clean bash to fit it closer to the shock, like on the oem mufflers. The original rear heatshield is a thing of beauty so I am going to try and fit it. Man this bike is so much fun !! Cheerz.
I'm curious as to the solutions I've seen where dual saddlebags are used and how they are fitted. Otherwise, there is a practical rear rack which would be my first purchase. Thanks for the fun review!
Brilliant Farmer. How do you get on with that Schuberth? I am thinking of getting the Schuberth E1 adventure for my 5000 mile ride from Oxford to Turkey soon so my helmet needs to be perfect.
Hello! Have to say I’m a bit of a Schuberth fan - on my second - have used Arai, Shoei bmw and end up with C3 pro. Don’t like the C4 though, completely different shape. Choosing a helmet is tricky, very personal - Farmer
I agree. I've never used any bike luggage as much as I use this bag. And yes it levels the look up of the backend. Surprisingly the waterproof liner is so far waterproof. And yes it's expensive but so is everything with Triumph on it they're learning from Harley? Keep up the good work
Hello Sunshine 😊 (send some to us please) regarding the bag, At any sensible ish speed it fine. If it’s heavy with stuff you notice standing still, but not a problem- hope this helps 👍
@@FarmerTorque Thank you for the quick reply! I have a 1200 on order and am trying to decide on the bag - but if its sensible to deal with, it sounds like a no brainer!
Very good point, Troweld - Whilst I really like my latest' Shortie exhaust I think that is the way to go - bit like my old 865 'project Scrambler (check out the vid!!!) I see this as a simply fabulous road bike but a bag either side would be great and as a classic look I love a low down 2-1 - cheers, Farmer
Beats using a rucksack every time, is so easy to take off/put on and this weather has well and truly tested its waterproof capabilities and has not let me down.
Great review! Thanks for it! Is it possible to fix it to the motorcycle? Or you just have to carry it everytime you walk away from the bike? On another note, how did you have installed the Vance& Hines 2:1 exhaust? I thought it was only valid for Street Scrambler/Twin range
Hey Farmer. Long time viewer...first time commenter. Love your videos. Have just purchased a Scrambler, came with the same V&H exhaust as yours. Loving it so far. Quick question...what brand of jacket are you wearing in this video?
Good review dude! Surprising what that side bag can accommodate! I agree also that bizarrely, the one sided pannier looks 'acceptable' on the Scrambler - particularly with the exhaust being slightly further 'out' than standard. Back in the day, you would occasionally see 'city gents' doing the one pannier thing commuting into London on their K75s which also looked 'ok' back then, but generally, anything a-symmetrical on bikes should be illegal! I could never fall in love with the front end on my S1000R due to the weird light cluster. I'm liking the Scrambler. Wonder how it compares to the Moto Guzzi V85TT? There's a video for 'Farmer'! ;-)
Those “finger straps” are MOLLE straps which is awesome! There are all sorts of MOLLE accessories you can attach to that ginormous anti-symmetrical monstrosity 😆 Great video though
Sorry Keith, can’t help you - I have a tail bag I use but it’s not matching - there are options that would be very close - look at SW Motech Heritage range.

Yes, think exactly the same, Stephen - I’ll do the exhaust but probably not the pannier 👍
Farmer
What were your thoughts on the 5kg limit? Seems very low but is it more a guideline? Cheers.
Yes I agree, I’ve put more than 5 kg in without a problem but it does flex a bit

Question - does the side mount and bag itself prevent a pillion from riding at the same time?
No , your fine Cecil 👍

Hi Franco, thanks for watching - it’s a Merlin Heritage- really should do a vid on it - thoroughly recommended
Is your tail end Triumph stock or third party part?

The loops on the side are for modern military web gear. They make lot's of bags or whatever that can attach to it.
