    Hey John!
I'm just beginning my "sharpening adventures"; TH-cam seemed to catch onto this and put this video of yours on my page. I'm not complaining. First, I'd like to say thanks for the video: it was simple, straight forward, and almost therapeutic? I don't know your history with sharpening, but your work (from amateur's eyes) seems incredibly consistent and finely honed. Pun intended. There was no unnecessary talking about your plan or the blade, it was straight to work. That's what I've been looking for.
Second, as someone who's only recently bought the Shapton 1k & 2k, a strop, and mediocre compound, I've debatably learned more from this video than *nearly* any other "how-to" video I've watched. Brushing up every blade in my household to "shaving" sharp has been fun, but if I had the form, control, consistency (and finer stones) shown here, they'd all be hair-splitting sharp. Setting aside personal preference in style, I picked up on *numerous* things I can directly change next time I put the metal to stone. Finally, an appreciation for the type of video this is. There's obviously the great feeling of taking a used up tool and bringing it back to where it can be properly used. It's only made better though, when it's a vintage piece like this razor. Fascinating to think this blade has a long story behind it and that it's able to be honed and "restored" back to the way it ought to be, to be used again and loved on. Good work, thanks again, keep at it.

Another good one. I have just stumbled over your channel. Great stuff. I am not disciplined enough to be as consistent as you with my strokes.
    Take care John.
Kind regard John :) Nice name by the way!

Nice honing session John. Was there an edge to begin with on that raozr or was it beat up from the restoration?
I hope that it shaved well. How do like the black shadow?
Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a goot one.

@@nonamebear1136I had to do a little pinpointed geometry fixing and then set the bevel on a DMT 1200k off camera. The razor came in pretty good condition, but there wasn’t much of a bevel after cleaning it up. Maybe I’ll do a bevel setting video in the future. Thanks for watching!
