I am a dedicated SPG player (I have my reasons)... When I run out of ammo, I will ram if possible. I always add controlled impact perk to my driver for those situations where I am out of ammo or in the middle of a reload and a tank comes upon me. Any SPG without controlled impact is wasting a last-ditch attack mode.
Hi Claus, thanks for SPG day! Just because average life expectancy was in the 30s, it doesn't mean you were an old man at 30. Half of people died in infancy, so the average age of those that grew to adulthood was not so different to recent times. Look at all those old Greek philosophers that lived into their 60s and 70s.
@@russwoodward8251 It was the 20th century that changed that. plentiful food and medicine decreased infant mortality and increased life expectancy. These changes were brought about because of fossil fuels. If the Malthusian Alarmists get their way, there will be increased deaths and increased infant mortality to reduce the world population to beneath 1 Billion or even 100 million. Mostly by pandemics and starvation.
Arty was removed from the game by players who cried because they liked sitting behind their fav rock - and if I remember correctly at the time this included some high profile players. Odd how history proves that arty was the first proven way to stop tanks in WW1 and now in the ongoing event in Europe Arty is right up there in stopping an enemy advancing. Will Wargaming de-nurf arty? Doubtful due the crying players who still like sitting behind their fav rock.
I play spgs 90% of the time for the past year. Got bored with the game after ten years and wouldn't be playing otherwise. I have the most fun helping team mates, someone asks for me to sky pig a target, I do it!.
The Object 261 game was not an unusual one for many of the players that have videos on the WOT Arty Noobs channel. We've not only see ram kills but Arty getting spotter and Patrol Duty medals too when they ran out of ammo. Just to give you a heads up - WOT Arty Noobs will be running a competition (with Wargaming) when we hit 10,000 videos in about a month. There are prizes for the best SPG replay as well as the best Non-Arty replay submitted. Quite a few of the SPG videos you've shown on the Claus Kellerman channel were featured on WOT Arty Noobs a few months before. Mostly because you use the WOT Record site (as we do) instead of wotreplays eu.
I play a lot of arty and love to get ram kills, especially to end games. My favorite kill was in a 1 vs. 1 scenario at the end of a game, sneaking up on an Obj 140 through the trees with a Conqueror GC to get a shotgun kill.
Knowledge for the fencesitters. It is easier as an artyplayer to counter another arties counter-battery fire, than to actually play counter-battery oneself!
Ive been retreiving orders for spg missions and arty has been pretty fun especially hitting a top tier paper tank for 500 in my M12 lol i really like it
you're the only channel, in the ones that I watch religiously, that shows SPG's at all....I'm not a player of them, except that personal missions require them to be played and now that it's the class I'm on in my mission quests I've been playing them and been looking in the desert of youtube for tutorials and gameplay to review...so THANK YOU for featuring them.
That's because these contributors play to an audience that does not play Arty or understand how to avoid it. These contributors (especially Voldermort) are the reason there are only TWO SPG premiums and Wargaming openly admit that they are afraid of the backlash if they added more!
If you're listening to digital music, the best quality files use a lossless codec. There are wav files, which use no compression and have huge files, and flac which compresses them in a way that doesn't lose any quality, but the files are still quite big. They normally use a lossy codec, which reduces the file size by a lot compared to lossless codecs, but has a drop in quality. mp3 is one of the oldest lossy codecs, and it's not a great codec. But it's still used because it's compatible with just about everything made in the last 20 years. The best lossy codecs are opus, followed by aac. Opus is a much newer codec, and a lot of things don't support it, but it's a really good codec and you won't notice a drop vs a lossless codec. But aac has better compatibility, almost as many things support it as mp3, and it's a significantly better codec than mp3.
As a dedicated SPG player, I can't count how many times the enemy would get in my dm's after the match and hurl insults at me because I smoked them. I just tell them to learn what the "w" key does and use it. I know it's anecdotal but for me, 9 out of 10 times I send someone to the garage is because they just sit in one area like the muppet they are. 1 of 10 times I just know my vehicle and am able to lead the enemy and hit them while they are moving. My thought process is simple, if you are going to be a stationary target for me, then I will use you for exp and punish your stupidity.
I thought the first game was solid. Smart finish and something I've done a couple times, once taking out the enemy FV304 in my own FV304 by ramming to win the game. Great fun. I've noticed that with some teams no one hits the tanks I just stunned right in front of them so if I see a game is going that way I switch over to to the high damage no stun HE sheels in order to get my total score up. I don't use the AP as it's just an expensive way to miss targets. I love the OBJ 261 though.
I enjoy playing SPG it also depends on what my goals are for the day. I have German French British American artillery.. Trying to assist your teammates in either stun or finishing them off is very fun but listening to the crying in the game chat about artillery is childish. Because that’s the same person who you just helped is crying that artillery is not doing enough or not firing at the right target or wanting to know why you miss so many shots to me I’ve never played Arty.
I'm pretty sure WG changed the XP allocation so tanks that do direct damage get all the XP regardless of assistance, so SPGs are neither stealing XP or losing XP because they are firing on targets other ppl are spotting.
Claus, I am having a fantastic day! Rotel Amplifiers for the Win! I paired my Rotel amp with B&W Speakers and a Pro-ject RPM Genie 1.3 Turntable quite a good (I'll say budget setup since as much as my setup cost it pales in comparison to a true audiophile setup). Vinyl is the best, I have a solid collection, and the best part is the crazy colors and picture art that is available!
I'm getting into the German SPG line and I'm enjoying it so I can no longer moan about SPG players, I've enjoyed the Wespe, Sfl IVb, St Pz II, and the Grille and will be getting the Hummel, no skill fun
The Hummel is better with the stock 15cm. You get shorter range, but more shots (Top Gun only has 18) and faster reload. The Alpha is lower at 480hp, but the trajectory is far better. The Top Gun has a flatter trajectory because the shell has a higher velocity, but the stock gun has the same trajectory as the Grille, so it can hit targets that are hiding behind rocks or buildings. There are plenty of videos on our channel that prove the stock gun is better.
you always aim a little bit behind the tank !!!! not in front !!!! shell arc will hit more if you aim behind AND most tanks will move backwards after they shoot...
Don't the artynoobs have a youtube channel? Also more mid tier arty please. Also I have given up on No2 and No3 arty shells. It feels like they should work but they never do.

Regarding your idea that SPG players "steal" XP from others by stunning the target - I asked WG, and according to them it's not the case. "Me: Can you tell if player's credit for making damage to enemy's tank is decreased if enemy's tank was stunned by artillery? I heard an opinion that artillery is "stealing" points from others this way. WG: Please note that in this case the amount of credits and experience you will get for the very fact of tank stunning will not be reduced. However, if allies cause damage to such a tank, the player who first stunned the tank will receive credits and experience for as long as his stun lasts." Although I think, even if it was the case, it would be reasonable. Hitting the target that I know is stunned and thus has far lower speed, can't turn around as fast, and has much higher reload time is certainly easier than otherwise.
Just wanted to call out BS. An average life expectancy of ~30 years back then was because about half of the children died early. I think archaeological examination of skeletons very much agrees with the massively low life expectancy age.
