@@DrRock2009 Yes that's a good word.. The English class system means as soon as one opens ones mouth, one is instantly categorized by accent... Even Chris Hitchens, the famous thinker, said he disliked people with a Yorkshire accent and he couldn't help it.. As Group Finance Director, I had to go to the City of London and chose to whom I would hand out tens of millions in pensions investments, and the loadsofmoney public school boys had to suck it up and try and hide their disdain for my accent. It was quite funny.... I had a Brummy advisor who was red hot and who sounded like Ozzy Osbourne, and who fuelled up my knowledge before I set off...

Not gonna lie . People should have known we've been in a depression for over a year and on top of that I'm betting America was taken over by another country during obamas term and I believe thats why these wierd things have been happening like us getting involved in a war for one .

we’ve been in what Snider and Kalinowsky call the “silent depression” for a lot longer than a year. The eurodollar system broke in 2007 and was never tended to, hence the rolling global liquidity crunches we’ve had ever since. 2019 pre Covid included. Even as banks swim in trillions more reserves than were ever necessary prior to the breakdown. Laundry tokens, while repo does the real work behind the scenes alongside panic attempts at global CB swap lines w/ the fed.

Just discovered this podcast and love Hugh hendry's stream of consciousness outpourings. I'm mesmerised by such a beautiful face in Julia and an intelligence yet innocence in a beautiful feminine softness. . So refreshing in a financial commentary world where women seemed to have gone over to the wall street masculine type persona.... Oh and that Texas accent 🧡 I didnt mention the rare skill of asking a question and remaining still and quiet letting the guest have full rein

Great interview! Hendry almost looks like Emil Kalinowski's older brother. He's the first financial guy I've seen who is aligned with Emil and Jeff Snider's financial worldview (maybe Lacy Hunt as well). I was watching a Lyn Alden interview where she says the Fed *is* able to create money to finance Treasury, but she doesn't go into details, just says the primary dealers just act like a pass through between Treasury and the Fed, but that doesn't make sense since Treasury has to settle the transaction with the primary dealers at auction first, THEN the Fed takes the bonds from the primary dealers. So the Treasury must finance its deficits with debt, not with Fed printed "base money" which only appears as a credit in the primary dealers' reserve accts.

You have quite some more people with that view tho, like Alf Peccatiello, Joseph Wang, Andreas Steno, Steven van Metre, Maroon Macro, Mike Green, Steve Keen, etc. I love these people, these are the people to be listening to when it comes to markets. If anyone is says central banks prints money you can immediately stop listening to them. Jeff is the GOAT

I would recommend the papers written by the German economist Richard A. Werner. He's the only guy I know about, who actually did the experiment of looking at the accounting and the balance sheet of a commercial bank when creating a loan and so how they are who are responsible for credit creation. Super cool papers, Joseph Wang and Steve Keen quote some in their books "Central Banking 101" and "New Economics".

Hugh, the coin flipping analogy is...The 1% says to the 99% "lets flip a coin to see who gets everything...Heads We WIN & Tails you ALL LOOSE" that's the reality we are in today. I can just hear the squeaky wheels of the guillotines being dragged out of the barns. So Hugh's message on his $100 hats... "I Recommend U PANIC" is for the 1% who can afford the hats and not for the 99% who will be meting out Justice. Heads will Roll. 🤣😂🤣 I could listen to Hugh ramble on all day. Great insights. Thanks Julia for bringing him to us and letting him expound without interruption. Great Job. 🙏🙏❤❤🔥🔥 And YES, I am Subscribed.

You are very good HH, but the Chinese don't need to buy anything from the USA, not even soybeans, which they can and do get elsewhwere. Silicon Valley only has a slight edge. The world is catching up regarding tech development.
The only thing China needs from the world is commodities, and they could buy commodities more cheaply with a stronger CNY. Then as you say the Chinese would be richer and could buy their own products, making exporting them less important.
Too many people talk about the collapse of China. They'd better be careful what they wish for, because that would be a disaster for the world.
There is an old poem about "East is East, and West is West, and never shall the twain meet". Yes we can't all be the same, but China and the rest of the world will evolve at its own pace. I'm much more worried about the decaying West where nobody wants to realize that that's what's happening. That's where they should panic.
