I remember waking up in the morning, seeing this event trending and quickly watching it live. Glad to watch it on time before Trump met and shook hands with Kim and then entered North Korean soil. I had goosebumps all over as it happened. Truly a great historical moment.

This is the most underrated diplomatic occurrence in history.
This was an historic moment. As a retired serviceman, with 20 years in uniform and having served a tour in Korea, I think it was a great thing that President Trump went to the DMZ and met with Kim. Nobody hates war or the prospect of war more than a soldier. If meeting and creating a dialog can help prevent a future war, than I am all for it. It's all the armchair warriors in pinstriped suits that have an interest in keeping this old conflict going. This is how these old beefs need to be handled. Cuba should be handled the same way. Castro is dead, the Cuban Missile Crisis is long gone, it's high time we sit down and work it out with words not weapons. Love or hate Donald Trump, he conducted this like a true statesman and if he had been reelected in 2020 then I believe that North Korea would have possibly opened up and we wouldn't be back in the same old boat.

Kim Jong Un is the most oppressive world leader today and his actions have mercilessly killed hundreds of thousands of his own people. He's not going to open up NK because Trump was nice to him. And if he did, he'd probably be seized and killed very quickly. He will hide behind his borders for the rest of his life.
What same old boat? North Korea are a nothing, saber-rattling power who pose no threat and continue to cowtow to binoclards like Putin, who has been illegally waging a war on Ukraine for nearly two years. The U.S. never needed NK, and while I respect Trump's move in bringing peace and positivity to Korea, he unfortunately used this situation like all of his other schemes - for good press and no substance.

This is such a good thing. I fully expect the media to make something terrible of this but that's how pathetic the media has become. Two world leaders shaking hands and stepping across boundaries to make positive change. That small steps means more than the media will give it credit for. It means people live and have a chance to live better in the future.

Regardless of party affiliation, this is an historic moment, one for NK AND the USA. An attempt to re-try talks towards a goal of open friendly communication should be viewed as a positive by both parties.
