      Well there is one seamless similarity and that is that women esp young women are always a target pretty much anywhere you go on this planet.
      I also just don’t buy half the shit countries claim about stats - majority do everything they can to hide the real numbers and who cares if you have 5 murders a year but they are this horrific says a lot about the surrounding culture/society. honestly i feel like the crimes that japanese commit are way more gruesome and cruel than the average. Like, how tf does a human being come up with these ideas to kill someone? If you watch anime, you can kinda see the mindset and atmosphere of the japanese society. No hate tho, I still watch some animes if they're legit lol

      Coworker: *walks out of bedroom yawning, then sees drunk young man* ....!!!
      Young man: *slowly wakes up and yawns* .....???
      *Both remain silent while staring at each other*.....

      @@mrmoviemanic1 Wrong. I'm Japanese and tell you this case is real and actually happened. Just that some people on the internet have made up scary stories about what happened to her afterward and it turned into some kind of urban legend which is absurd. The worst thing is given the words her daughter said, her parents were left with their imagination of what could be going on. The thought that she could still be alive and held by someone, who does god knows what to her must keep them up every single night.

      @riverdeep399 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Dylan C I have watched it. I am crippled by anxiety and all that jazz, but hide away from it and surviving off your elderly parents pension instead of dealing with it is selfishness. You don't get to drop out of life because it's hard, no progress will ever be made.

    • @fadeuhhway
      @fadeuhhway 3 ปีที่แล้ว +54

      @@riverdeep399 "I am crippled by anxiety and all that jazz..." Just stop right there. Even if there are people who do live off their parents and do it selfishly, there are people with REAL crippling anxiety ad depression that they can't function normally in society. And if agoraphobia was a factor, then it's not selfish, its panic attacks and pain. And hikkikomoris (sp) are meant more as those who stay at home on the computer, the type that prefer to communicate over the internet. Sometimes social anxiety is a factor, sometimes other things, but it does not equal a leech.

    The actual translation for the call that Sayako Minamino made to her mother is even more sinister than the one presented in the video - kurushii means she’s in pain, and kuyashii is often used to express anger towards injustice. Whether it was a prank or it was a real call from Sayako, how terrible for her mom to have received it. 😪

    It will take me a long time to emotionally recover from #4...
    It's horrifying. Knowing there are people out there who think my life is worth nothing, so much that they would even kill me, just because I'm disabled. And they think it would be a mercy kill.
    Cases like those aren't rare, either. There is a double standard of ableism, when it comes to parents who murder their children. When a parent murders their non-disabled child, society's reaction is to be angry at the parent, and to mourn the child. But when a parent kills their disabled child, the reaction is sympathy towards the parent. Too many people think it's some kind of justice, when a disabled person dies. Even one person believing that; it's too much.
    So much cultural work needs to be done, everywhere. Disability "rights" clearly are not enough. We need justice. We need more than just us alone knowing what the word "ableism" means, and knowing the scope and severe effects of ableism.

    A lot of people view disability like that. As a person who is disabled, I've heard it all. From murdering us to just letting us die. Our governments certainly seem to think letting us die is ok. Universal health care and universal basic income would really help disabled people thrive. We aren't useless or lazy. We are not burdens. Our lives have value.

    I really do love all of your content. However, I especially love videos like this one, and your "Region Locked" videos. As an ignorant, true-crime-loving girl in North America, I genuinely appreciate that you take the time to share with us these cases that are both incredibly fascinating and also rather obscure (to most westerners, at least). I struggle to find any other channels that put in even a fraction of the effort that you put into your videos. Not only is your production quality great, but, far more importantly, you go out of your way to research and bring these stories to light. I love and appreciate that you focus on cases from many different countries, as they are cases that I am usually not privy to. What's more, I realize that researching these obscure cases, despite not speaking some/most of the native languages, I am sure that's very difficult; not to mention extremely time consuming! Your efforts are definitely not going unnoticed! The hard work you so clearly pour into your videos is acknowledged, admired, and VERY appreciated by many of us subscribers! So, thank you for all that you do in order to bring interesting and lesser-known cases to our attention! I truly appreciate you, and I look forward to the next video, as always!

    As much as I love the culture and media in Japan (I enjoy watching anime and have been a fan for a long time), like any other country, it definitely has it's fair share of fuckery. Especially around mental health and bullying, the pressure put on people to work 16 hours a day is absolutely insane.
