Obviously he's one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time but I also really feel JD had one of the best flows, particularly on tracks like this and fuck the police, really individual and distinctive style. His lyrical ability is def underrated in my opinion.
I remember seeing this video...I was 12 years old when I saw this and the first thing I said was "damn this song is tight" I still listen to this album
ahhhhhhhhhhh i knew that the sample was fro msomewhere, i was like i heard this shit from somewhere.. then i realized the song extra dry was used on midnight club 2
i only got this song via aerodynamic slum village remix!! im try to get the title of d song by listen to one of the soundtracks of Kiss of the Dragon of Jet Li.
all beats made by dilla have a break at the beginning or the end. it'll never be known what it is unless u're in the crates digging and happen to stumble upon it. it's crazy
Even though ive loved this song since the album was released...but ive always wondered...IS this song sampling Mario Bros. ?? if not, it sounds EXACTLY like 2 diff levels...just AMPED up to the max in the RAWest way possible.
it's not like they can't make their own or that they are stealing them. u can see the name of the songs they sample on the cd credits. the thing is that they want to implement what they hear over the years and the music that they love into the house scene. and they do a good damn job at that. =]
Well actually, to tell you , before they made this song, they had no connection with Daft Punk at all, When J Dilla made the beat he thought the sample was done by an unknown Dance artist, and figured never to get in trouble. When it was found out that the sample wasn't credited, J Dilla almast was in big trouble, but the members of Daft Punk were actually fans of Slum Village, and the only thing they wanted from SV was another song, So they did the Aerodynamic remix.

I never knew that Daft Punk were into Slum Village! All I can say is "Wow. Thanks for sharing this story."
J Dilla sampled Extra Dry from Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) and borned Raise it up. Great song man
Real fun song to vibe with. Awesome beat!
Awesome story about how that song came about, that two groups of artists didnt consider a lawsuit but instead a collaboration. RIP
I'll NEVER Forget when I first seen this...1999! When MTV played Good Music.
RIP J Dilla and Baatin. You managed to keep real hip hop alive just a bit longer.

Slum Village - Fall In Love (Remix) was a 12" and a promo press. Might be able to find it somewhere on the internet and download it.
If you like this, you should check them on Common's "Thelonius". They got down on that one. Slum Village has always been slept on, though.
That's so cool that Daft Punk asked for a collaboration instead of a payment for the sample!
yeeh men it's one of the best!hip-hop isn't dead?you damn right!
