We have one of those here in Japan, put a Torsen diff in the rear ( one going in the front soon killed the standard diff ) and took 12 kg of filler out of the roof ! great wee cars they are !
I break several front OME springs with too much droop. Leaf break right behind the stock spring perch .Now longer perches (welded) solve the problem. You can watch in my Video "Suzuki Samurai spring break" ha ha.
Great video, I had never thought to put the rear suspension out front. Although I can definitely see the advantages of doing so (increased flex, and a small amount of stretch). Can you please estimate the wheelbase stretch that doing something like this is? Thanks
Got you! If all it takes is to follow an awesome channel to help a couple offroad brothers out, then why not? It's not like those people that hit you up on social media asking for actual money
Hey Kyle love your videos man! I am planning on doing the rears up front on my Samurai with the low range offroad kit. Did you have to get a longer driveshaft for the front to make it work?
You SHOULD get a longer driveshaft. After lifting it and then stretching it, the only way it can still reach is with a spacer on each end of the driveshaft which puts weird leverage on the output and pinion, and gives you two more failure points. I wound recommend the spacers. 🤙🏻
Awesome video as usual I just picked up a set of springs this is my plan for a winter project. Are you planning on running the 33's with the Sami axles or is that the turning point for yota axles?
Thanks dude! I'm gonna run them on the Samurai axles, but I am a little worried about the reliability. We'll see 🤷🏼♂️ after the first axle break I'll start building the yotas 🤙🏻
I have the same set up on mine. I was wondering about for on road driving if that pivot bolt should be tight so it doesn’t unload but then loosen it up off road?
Not a bad idea. I really don't think it would be noticeable. The shackles that lays flat is just like a shackle hanger. If you tighten them up too much they wouldn't work right off road, like how they got stuck during my install.
Just wondering why you changed the missing link to Dr Z. Did I miss something? I am curious on how it rides the road. I noticed the shackles on the front are vertical now. I would think it would ride a little better if they were angled a little to the the front. Im running ome rears up front and cJ fronts in the rear. When i installed the CJ in the rear it leveled mine out. Noticed the most improvement in ride quality in the rear. The stock Sammy rear spring were ruff. However i am running spring under. Great Video. Been a sub from the beginning. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for watching out videos and your feedback. The shackles are the same from before, but now they are paired up with Samurai rear springs up front. They ride really well so far. First trail ride for it coming up! 🤙🏻
I’m looking into doing YJ leafs with Toyota axles. What kit would you recommend? I know this video is old but I just want to talk to someone with some knowledge
Hey Kyle, a fine video for Sammy fans as always. Of I do the RUF conversion but I don't go for the YJs in the back (meaning I have Sammy rears all around), is that even doable? What could be the pros and cons in your mind? Thanks.
Thanks for watching! That's what I have right now. Rears all around. The only con is that the front may be slightly higher, like my setup is. The pros are that you are running the same spring all around so you only need one spare. Also it's a budget friendly lift system. Hope that helps. 🤙🏻
@@FortuneOffRoad thanks for the prompt response Kyle. Do you think adding some sort of a "helper" leaf to the rear pack could help level the stance of the vehicle? To keep the conversion as budget friendly as possible of course :)
Hi Kyle, quick question, what leaf springs are you running in the back of your suzuki? I am trying to figure out what to do with a 94 samurai that i am putting together, but it needs to run on the road as well. Great videos thanks. Keep it up. Alvaro
I used driveshaft spacers. The front has one on each side. Not reco.me Ed since they tend to work their way loose after a bit. New driveshaft would be the better way

It's about 1.5" forward and about the same in lift for me!
@@FortuneOffRoad Thanks, that is very much appreciated.
Nice and perfect 👌 patiently waiting for the another 33" rubber foot video 👍
I got RUF and shackle reverse on my Samurai tintop, and i love it,
What are you running in the rear of your tin top?
Stock for now. Have Toyota pickup fronts springs for it sometimes. Here in sweden the YJ springs is so much money🤦♀️
I run the ruf on mine with the missing links and 32s. Got over 20in of drop in the front did a 838 on a RTI ramp. Same rear set up as you. 👍😁
Sounds great. What are you doing for bump stops? I'm thinking about putting some limiting straps on the front springs to keep them alive longer.
@@FortuneOffRoad just the stock ones. Straps would help. I've broken a few springs. I do alot of rock trails.

4:10 where did you purchase the YJ missing link shackle stops?
Dr z Fabrication
shout out to Dr. z fab! zach is a great guy
Nice video dude. I see you're getting a lot of mods done before our Moab trip.
I guess I need to make it taller an more tippy before we get on those 1000ft ledges 😅
Awesome video dude, I already follow Dr Z 🤘😎
Thanks for lookin out!
I also already follow Dr Z. If it helps I found him originally after you mentioned him in a previous video

So do you have to buy the whole yj kit or can you buy the shackle stop and awesome VIDEOS dude THANKS
I just bought the shackle stop. Keep in mind if you don't use the hanger drop your will roll your caster and it could be dangerous on the road.
Did you have to change anything in the rear to level out
@@timrobinson3414 I added about 1" for it to even out. Still a little taller up front.
Just don't know which way to go yj springs or ruf
What size are the rear shackles talking with Zack trying to get a order in I want your exact suspension setup looks like it takes the trails good

You can see much better with the doors off and it makes driving it a lot more fun!

Hey dude, thanks for checking out our videos! The rear springs are stock samurai rear springs, spring over, with a 4" shackle; that's it!
Sweet Sami!!! What spring over kit do you have?
Thanks! It started as the Low Range Off Road kit and I've swapped a few things like shackles in since.
What shocks you running?

Yes, with added leafs in the packs. I just asked around on the Facebook group
