Every time they tried to branch back into other games, it failed. Dungeon Dice Monsters Capsule monsters were poorly received so they stuck to the card game. @@pingaspearce9403 Until 5Ds and beyond ruined the card game with all the Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, and Link crap and made the game so damn overly complicated you need a degree just to play it.
Is funny how in the manga of duel monsters this season is cannon so atem goes from a serial killer to save the word with the power of friendship and friends
So was the fact the beginning of the manga (Season 0) focused on playing various games until they just sticked with playing card game instead later on (DM) lol.
It's pretty touching. He starts out only caring about winning, slowly starts to care about Yugi's friends, then Yugi himself, then gets inspired by Yugi to care about more than just winning and losing. The manga started with being about Yugi finding his friends and strength thanks to Atem and ends with Atem having found his strength to save the world through Yugi.
Yu-Gi-Oh GX is actually directly connected to the first one, taking place 10 years after the original Kaiba runs the duelist academy that the students enroll in and Yugi literally appears in episode 1, giving Judai (Jaden in the west) his Kuriboh card. There is also an episode where Judai goes back in time to fight Yugi when he was still a teen.
What does that have to do with yugioh season 0 whatsoever? Also anybody with a brain would be able to comprehend they are connected by watching the first episode of gx
I just finished Season 0 today. Farewell, Yuugi's most adorable voice. Farewell, Atem's Games of Darkness. Farewell, Miho - though I won't miss you much.
Well, I saw the 0 season when I was very, very young, and, although I really liked the series, I kinda... Yami Yugi first give some fear, for some reason. Like when he transformed that guy in a clock.
@@tenientemantequilla4307 I think it's very intentional. Yami Yuugi starts off as a cruel and ruthless character on purpose so that we can see him change throughout, most notably when he gives Kaiba a chance at recovery.
Rest in peace, Kazuki Takahashi, legendary writer and hero to duelists everywhere. You have impacted the lives of so many, created worlds and fantasies, taught many about sportsmanship and developed a very culture that brought so many people together. You will be sorely missed.
The early chapters were _brutal._ I don't know what they added or changed in the anime that well, but the first shadow game wasn't a weird rooftop card game, but one were they put money on their hand and stabbed through it to keep it. So they had to be careful not to stab their own hand. The guy Yami was playing against _literally tried to stab him._ He was driven insane, believing garbage was money. And that's not even talking about the time Yami legit killed someone. Set the guy on fire. There also was a weird air-hockey but with ice and a hot plate game with explosive chemicals, and the one time were he permanently ruined the vision of a TV producer.
Eloize Aubin oh yeah, I’m not even sure that yami yugi was supposed to be a good guy at first lmao. I understand that he is from 3000 years and his morals would be different, but still, dude seems like an a straight up psychopath.
I believe one of the biggest changes on season 0 was the fact Miho was one of the main characters in this season, when she's just a random fodder in the manga. And because of that, Miho replaced a lot of Jonouchi and Honda's roles and do more stuffs in the anime than she ever did on the manga.
Saddened to find out that the creator of this legendary anime has passed. He will live on as we continue to remember him, watch the series, and play the games. This video was uploaded when I was still in high school, time flies and we often waste it.
According to the original manga writer, switching to card game only focus helped with coming up with a better story structure as he doesn't have to waste time making up random new games every week. Have to admit it, that was a good decision since Yu-Gi-Oh! became mainly popular due to the card game.
The reason why they changed direction of the plot to focus on card games only was because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make it the main focus instead Honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf
I used to listen to this every day whem I was getting ready for school. I had the words memorized. And I will never forget YuGiOh and how it helped me feel like I belonged.
So here we are, let’s just carry on We’re side by side and arm in arm I stand and count my disappearing dreams But through the doubt my friends are what I see On the path that you do seem to know Lately you’ve not known where to go In the dark shadows there seems to be Growing another me I let it out, his crazy shout Out of my heart, torn out, under my tearful cries Don’t go, I want you to show me the world Through your eyes; (come along with me) The answer our world vainly seeks I see it now, discovered lying inside of me Surpass the rules to reach our aim We must learn to play a higher game
I know that's very close to or exactly the translation, but these words could be substituted and still match the melody, which is rare for a translation.
It's very sad that this happened. I used to watch a lot of of it when I was younger, while still confused, I was always impressed by how amazing the cards are, Takahashi-san created something that made and still will make the lifes of various. I don't collect cards, but I have one of them inside of my phone case, it will now have more value than ever. May you rest in piece, Takahashi sensei.
I remember watching Yu-Gi-Oh zero over and over again as a child. As i grew up, I totally forgot about it, but yesterday i found it again by chance and rewatched all of it in one sitting. I did cry a little bit listening to the OP because it's so nostalgic! Really a big part of my happiest days.
I wish they would release this series on dvd and blu ray in America and the uk. This series is to good to miss and it's a shame people think it's just the card game. Season 0 is genuinely on of my favourite anime of all time. It was such a fantastic idea and focused on the part of yu gi oh that I actually cared about most.
It's not even "as" faithful to the original manga as some people like to pretend it is... but go off I suppose. I still rather enjoy Season 0 myself, but you know.
The others were mainly about duel monsters and considering Yu-Gi-Oh changed directtion because of the fans loving it so much I'd say it's a welcome change
No, screw the rules I have black hair lined with red that sticks up all over the place. I also have blonde bangs. And by the way, all the coloring is natural.
I came back on this cause season 0 was freaking good and it's all thanks to Kazuki Takahashi. Kind of bad this season didn't continued because it was going on the right way, at 0:59 and 1:07 i'm actually surprised by how much Yami Yugi from 0 starting to look like the Atem from DM design wise we know. Only big difference is the eye of Anubis on front always appearing. I think it showed how he has softened and improved as a person later in the short series. Thanks Kazuki Takahashi for this franchise that is Yu-Gi-Oh!
The reason Yu-Gi-Oh was changed to car games was because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make that the main focus instead Honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf

I kept hearing about this series and I finally watched most of it. I like Yami's character in DM to a degree, but here he is downright savage. 👏 It's interesting to see his totally different relationship with Anzu this time. Of course, I'm pretty relieved to not have to hear a friendship speech every 5 minutes too
Her name actually reappeared in Yugioh GX as she was a civilian whom was sent to the dark realm. I forgot who did that. But her name appeared on his list
I don't think that's fully the reason because Duel Monsters deviates from the Manga's story just as much if not more so than Season 0 does. For example Otogi who in the Manga appears like twice and then disappears till the very end of the Manga's story is a main character after his introduction in not only the Anime exclusive storylines but also in Battle City which was in the Manga. Honda also didn't have feelings for Shizuka in the Manga and his rivalry with Otogi doesn't exist in that universe. There's also the addition of Noah to the Kaiba family tree in the Duel Monsters anime and the fact that after Duelist Kingdom Ryou becomes much more of a side character whereas in the Manga he stays a main character throughout most of the novel. Not to mention Yami Bakura's backstory being not applicable to him in Duel Monster's universe because of the last season having a different story from the Manga. I think it more has to do with them just trying to separate Duel Monsters from Season 0 since Duel Monsters was made by a different company and having Miho would only seemingly connect the two when Duel Monsters was created to have no continuity with Season 0.
Thank you Takahashi sensei for the wonderful world and characters you created that help me make friends and help me learn a few lessons along the way may you rest in peace 🕊️
Oh yes season 0, the one where Bakura almost killed everyone by tricking them into playing D&D with him.
derpdog Or when Kaiba hired a serial killer to kill yugi
Keiichi Okada Or when Yami Yugi almost killed a psychopath in a ferris wheel with a bomb.
i like his green hair, it makes him seem like more of a weirdo.
lol, Yugi's hair: the anime hair that makes fun of other anime hair :D
Or when Anzu almost gets eaten by a tiger forcing Yuugi to save her by playing raisutchi (i'm pronouncing it wrong aint i)

@Edge Valmond Yeah I wish they would of just continued this series instead of just rebooting it...
@Mark Welch They're referring to the end of season six where Yugi and Yami duel. Saying that this version of Yami would probably try to kill Yugi.
I wish someone would go ahead already and create a new Yugioh anime that closely follows the manga, that would be great.
Fouxjin you are kinda 16 years late .....
Not every anime adaptation that has the manga's story is great. Remember Sailor Moon Crystal?
JoJo did it 25 years after the initial manga release
yeah the new duel monster sucks
I'd do it

MARVIN martins i still think seto is better. I mean i would like yami a bit more is he would stfu about friendship and the heart of the cards
Yep, "From the darkness inside of me... Another me is born!" I love that line
Back when Yugi was actually the King of Games, not just card dueling.
Every time they tried to branch back into other games, it failed. Dungeon Dice Monsters Capsule monsters were poorly received so they stuck to the card game. They could've done it with the filler arcs, especially since most of the cards featured in those arcs weren't initially planned for release until Konami decided to farm nostalgia, but I guess they were afraid it would impact pack sales.
The Duel monsters direction was a much better move tho
Because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make that the main focus instead
And honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf
@@pingaspearce9403 Until 5Ds and beyond ruined the card game with all the Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, and Link crap and made the game so damn overly complicated you need a degree just to play it.
@Drums of Liberation synchros were not that bad but yeah everything after made the card to complicated
After 17 years, this is still the best and the first anime opening i have ever heard. What a nostalgic
Yu-Gi-Oh GX is actually directly connected to the first one, taking place 10 years after the original
Kaiba runs the duelist academy that the students enroll in and Yugi literally appears in episode 1, giving Judai (Jaden in the west) his Kuriboh card.
There is also an episode where Judai goes back in time to fight Yugi when he was still a teen.
What does that have to do with yugioh season 0 whatsoever? Also anybody with a brain would be able to comprehend they are connected by watching the first episode of gx
@@hyp3rsqu1d81 must've been a glitch or something, since I remember commenting this on a reaction video, not this
I just finished Season 0 today.
Farewell, Yuugi's most adorable voice.
Farewell, Atem's Games of Darkness.
Farewell, Miho - though I won't miss you much.
_you're that ninja_
You reminded me of miho aka the most useless charachter in the whole anime industry
Miho was better in the manga and she only appears for one chapter there. At least she wasn't a gold digger in the manga.
Back to listen to This after hearing about Kazuki Takahashi's Death . Author of this masterpiece , RIP SIR
I can dig the way yami summoned his card
Ffeoli1039 seto did good too. They just were focused on dark magician a few more seconds than bewd
@@lokibloodsaw2836 I'm talking the double hand thing he did
Rest in peace Takahashi, you made our childhood great with your art and talent. Yugioh will always be in our hearts.
And because of that, Miho replaced a lot of Jonouchi and Honda's roles and do more stuffs in the anime than she ever did on the manga.
the guy then regain his sanity and years later become a cop
Saddened to find out that the creator of this legendary anime has passed. He will live on as we continue to remember him, watch the series, and play the games. This video was uploaded when I was still in high school, time flies and we often waste it.
MIHO LOVES TO DANCE!
Did you hear something?
Sounded like the wind.
Man, I preferred YGO back when it was a psycho-thriller, before it was all about Duel Monsters. Also this theme _slaps_
Same
I feel the same way. (Except Kaiba's green hair. It's shit.)
According to the original manga writer, switching to card game only focus helped with coming up with a better story structure as he doesn't have to waste time making up random new games every week. Have to admit it, that was a good decision since Yu-Gi-Oh! became mainly popular due to the card game.
The reason why they changed direction of the plot to focus on card games only was because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make it the main focus instead
Honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf

So here we are, let’s just carry on
We’re side by side and arm in arm
I stand and count my disappearing dreams
But through the doubt my friends are what I see
On the path that you do seem to know
Lately you’ve not known where to go
In the dark shadows there seems to be
Growing another me
I let it out, his crazy shout
Out of my heart, torn out, under my tearful cries
Don’t go, I want you to show me the world
Through your eyes; (come along with me)
The answer our world vainly seeks
I see it now, discovered lying inside of me
Surpass the rules to reach our aim
We must learn to play a higher game

I wish they would release this series on dvd and blu ray in America and the uk. This series is to good to miss and it's a shame people think it's just the card game. Season 0 is genuinely on of my favourite anime of all time. It was such a fantastic idea and focused on the part of yu gi oh that I actually cared about most.
Rest In Peace Kazuki all of your series are great your at peace with the Lord
Thanks, Kazuki Takahashi, for all the memories.
This Season is far better than the others ...
It's not even "as" faithful to the original manga as some people like to pretend it is... but go off I suppose.
I still rather enjoy Season 0 myself, but you know.
I wish i discovered this series with the manga 😥
Yes
The others were mainly about duel monsters and considering Yu-Gi-Oh changed directtion because of the fans loving it so much
I'd say it's a welcome change
B!tch I hope Tf you don’t mean that
This season was so great.. And violent which is also great.

SCREW THE RULES! SEASON 0 IS BEST!

Rest in peace sir kazuki takahashi the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh the king of games
I can't stop listening to this opening it's so freaking good!!!
R.I.P Kazuki Takahashi. Thank you for all the memories and making my life wonderful with Your creation.

Rip Takahashi, thank you for creating a game that gave us so many memories and taught us about friendship, believing in others, and creating strategies to overcome any obstacle you face, seriously, this show had so many outside the box strategies by the protagonists it influenced some Decisions I made in the last few years, my favorite was the infinite loop combo yugi used to take down the the god card Slifer this show taught you if your play your cards right you could pull off the impossible
RIP kazuki takahashi, dulu pas masih bocil thun 2002/2003an suka bnget beli kartu yugioh, slah 1 anime favorit ku dulu, trimakasih kazuki takahashi sudah nyiptain series yugioh, salah 1 yg bikin masa kcilku menyenangkan 😇🙏
I kept hearing about this series and I finally watched most of it. I like Yami's character in DM to a degree, but here he is downright savage. 👏 It's interesting to see his totally different relationship with Anzu this time. Of course, I'm pretty relieved to not have to hear a friendship speech every 5 minutes too
R.I.P Kazuki Takahashi
Had to come back here after the news this morning. Damn. RIP, Kazuki Takahashi.
Lol, but for real though, wtf happened to Miho? Lmao, literally just evaporated out of existence.
Miho was never a main character in the manga, but somehow became one in season 0. Since dm followed the manga, Miho wasn't there.
+TK Great
Her name actually reappeared in Yugioh GX as she was a civilian whom was sent to the dark realm. I forgot who did that. But her name appeared on his list
well i seriously though miho brougth quite an interesting part to the story
I’ve never seen this and yet I’m overwhelmed with nostalgia
Even though I didn’t grow up watching this, I feel nostalgic from the old cel animation and the music from that time period
@Arnel Andrada Yep i get the same kind of feeling when watching older material.
Thank you Takahashi sensei for the wonderful world and characters you created that help me make friends and help me learn a few lessons along the way may you rest in peace 🕊️
Rip Kazuki Takahashi sensei you will be always remembered by millions of people who are connected by yugioh.
