    Absolutely brilliant way of putting it Kate, for what it's worth please accept my humble recognition, 2-3 centuries ago, scientific evidence was pummeled by the church, nowadays it's Finance and the Markets ... keep up the good work!

    This is very timely for an upcoming strategic planning day with my team. Thank you, Kate. My TH-cam recommended videos threw up this and Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World. 😮

    Kate Raworth is the voice of sanity amidst the mess we’ve made of things. Those in positions of power need to start listening to her.

      Her voice and sound economic orientation for the 21st Century is vital, as well as others like Peter Joseph, Michael Tellinger and Richard Wolff.
      But I've read and watch a lot and I am convinced we can't just wait and hope for people in power to listen to her, we have to create the change in our local community that can make this new economic condition possible.
      I'd suggest everybody keep eyes on Zeitgeist: Requiem and One Small Town Contributionism. Both have great potentials for community building towards a better system that works for us all.

    Brilliant and inspiring. We need urgently to change our paradigma

      More brilliance and inspiration from her and other sources can be found by looking to Peter Joseph and the Zeitgeist films, especially the new one: Requiem and Michael Tellinger's work, his book "Ubuntu Contributionism" and the One Small Town organization for the people in community to build unity and sustainable society.

    “Thank you” is not enough to respond to this video. What a synthesis! What vision! A complete sustainability class.

    Consumers have great power as well. Education is key to transforming the economy, schools should play an active role in properly informing people from a young age on their impact through consumerism.

      Excellent! Education is central especially at a young age. Fostering creativity in reuse of products and in thinking about the lifespan of a resource.

      Good education is crucial, but we also need as many networks of cooperation as we can get so the system can actually change for the better, while capitalist interests are going to keep delaying the movements.
      I say, take a good look at Peter Joseph's work, especially Zeitgeist: Requiem as it comes out soon and Michael Tellinger's work, especially with One Small Town Contributionism.

    You ideas are refreshing and inspiring, worth spreading for sure!
    I wonder if there is evidence of any country, civilization or world wide organization that has ever done this? As beautiful as it sounds is there any historical data or perhaps a living example of success leading this kind of paradigm change?

    Debt issued and interest based Money is by definition Extractive. So the business remodeling needs extend to Banking, as this debt based model sets in motion a chain of extractions that define the whole economy

    businesses will never care about anything but profits, it is up to government to use their levers to incentivize such regenerative practises and deincentivize bad practices

    • @mariannepolkowski-burns2627
      @mariannepolkowski-burns2627 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, government could improve the educational environment toward climate change and regenerative purpose and practice, which would make businesses more responsible and responsive.

    Besides the various forms of confectionery being applied to economics especially around business which I do think of positively I also can’t help but think we may reach a plateau where the number of company’s are having to reduce as a direct impact of them having to be efficiently viable do not provide enough work for the growing population. So many people keep talking about “the children of tomorrow” but I think that in itself is a huge factor. As in the growing population of the world. Surely one of the most impactful things would be to have less people in the first place via controlling the growing population. No matter what economic model you apply even in a perfect world scenario if population is not either reduced or controlled somehow the result in the end is the same you simply delay it slightly. It’s an interesting subject but there are so many factors out of control that have some of the biggest impacts I think it’s easy to loose sight of a real world solution. Also you have the challenge in that by changing those out of control factors that you may in turn impact human rights or quality of life for our remaining time on the planet. Is it a bad thing to accept that all things will eventually come to an end (as they do in nature also).

    It is true that continuous population growth is a stumbling block. I think couples should have only 1 child or adopt (A BETTER CHOICE). Anyway I think the donut economy is a great start towards a great revolution. The most important thing is to rebuild the world and find our place on this planet.

    • @robinlillian9471
      @robinlillian9471 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Human population growth is leveling out globally. The one child policy was a disaster for China, and the government is now offering couples rewards for having MORE children.

    The problem of this strategy "Cradle to cradle"... is that is too expensive cognitive wise, barely any business finds a way to do it.. It is more efficient to have new businesses popping up to solve the problem, businesses to find ways to decompose plastics faster, businesses to collect CO2 from the atmosphere.. business to improve supply chains..etc etc
    Circular economy is an utopia that is too expensive to achieve now, I love it but due to urgency, we need the good old fashion division of labour. Don't ask people to find ways how to recycle at home, get the garbage man to learn how to recycle.
