Your camerwoman is correct: I've done this before. The best results are when you have half the tub clear so you submerge the body in clean water then pull it UP through the paint.

    • @KibsRC

Yeah that works great when there’s somewhere for the water to go! When you’re trying to dip on the inside of these bodies there’s nowhere for the water escape. I put a hole on the top of body for the light bar that I’m going to be installing later, but it wasn’t enough for the water to escape fast enough. It was taking too long for the water to go out and the paint will end up sticking to the inside of the body. Thanks for watching and your input! 👍😀👍

@@KibsRC Yeah see, that's because most dipping is done to the outside of the item. The only real solution would be to have large enough openings for the water to drain quickly that you can fill later (like you did with the lightbar).
Have you seen the hydro dipping where they "print" images on top of water then pull helmets etc up? that stuff is incredible....

Yeah I 💯% agree about the openings! I like dipping on the inside of the body, that way the paint is protected. And yeah I love those dips where they have the images. I think that’s super cool! 👍😀👍 I need to try that sometime! Have you tried that?

@@KibsRC I havent' tried the printed dips, that takes specialized equipment. It's basically an inkjet printer that prints on water....I recently purchased a large format flat bed printer with UV ink that can print right on fabric, wood, ceramic, plywood. The one I bought does up to 60" x 60" but not on water hahah.
As for painting inside/outside. If you do outside you can put on multiple layers of clear lacquer on the outside to protect your paint. I used to use Krylon clear but then Lowes bought it out and no one else carries it.
An alternative is to dip the outside, then spray the inside with one of your dip colours so if you scratch the paint, the colour will show through and look like you planned it!
I forget which maker did it, but they just released an R/C with satin black on the outside then rust red on the inside. So if you scratch it, it looks "patina". Tomley did a video on it.

@@KibsRC If bodies weren't so pricey, I always wanted to try splatter painting one. Dip a coat hanger into a tub of paint, attach it to a drill, put it inside the body and pull the trigger lol. Then dip into another colour, do the same. Kind of a jackson pollock paint job haha.
