The way he hold the mic... His eyes closed all the time... Jay-Z really respects Chester, damn. Uniting two completely different genres back in 2004 was a really risky shot. The way it turned into the one of the best collab ever seen is fucking amazing. Legendary for sure. Thank you for this tribute.
wasn't too different mate, Linkin Park started off with Rap Metal genre so going for more rap wasn't to much of bother, especially for mike. But everything else you said I agree
He is feeling it, Chester's death had such a big impact on the music world, I remember when I heard it, I was very sad even though I didn't know him personally :(

I love the fact that during Chester’s part Jay stayed silent other than emphasizing Chester’s lines with a “Yeah”. He let Chester have his moment during this even though Chester is gone.. that’s respect. That’s love right there. Jay absolutely loved Chester and Linkin Park. There’s a reason he agreed to do Collision Course. He actually enjoyed Linkin Park’s music and thought Chester was one of the most impressive singers he’s ever met. He was always blown away by his range. Mad respect to Jay for letting Chester still have his moment.
2023, I'm back, and you're absolutely right. I saw tears in his eyes. You could feel pain. I think this man is a genuinely nice guy. You will hardly ever hear news about his family as in Bey and the kids. Solange has kinda adopted that, too. She's very quiet. I hope she writes a movie, produces it, and writes the music. not having Chester in the world honestly sucks. i miss him so much and it's evident that Jay Z does too and i thank him for doing such a great tribute to Chester.
John Jacob don't be rude Chester could of been a part of his life he sure was in mine I went to two of his concerts the first when I was six and the other was their second last concert ever in the O2 I grew up listening to their songs it was the only music I listened to I was so sad when he died and I still find it hard you don't know what everyone else feels.
just because i never knew him personally doesn't mean i can't miss him. i miss his voice, his laugh, his energy when he performs, his kindness towards his fans; everything.
I remember when this Mashup happened, and how iconic it was and still is. Two musicians that will live in history for my generation. My kids will definitely be listening to Jay Z and Linkin Park.
I could never respect Jay Z more for this. This is such a beautiful tribute. Thank you for being such a beautiful human being. And thank you Chester for being the voice of a generation. I love you and hope you’ve found peace.
I always wondered what was going on in Jay Z's mind during all this: Looks to the left, remembering the spot where Chester stood during their House Of Blues show, for playing Collision Course for the first time. Then gets a flashback of every time he performed with Chester, gets emotional, closes his eyes and stands in front of the mic stand in a pose similar to Chester's.
The performance duo between Jay z and Linkin Park was the first time i saw Jay Z emotionally touched at the part where Chester sings. I personally believe no one had ever moved Jay Z like that before especially with his own song and this is why Jay Z felt compelled to do this tribute. There really will never be such a great collab ever again. Rip !!
When Chester's part came on my heart sank. It finally hit me that he is really gone. He will never sing again. He is really gone. I can't believe it's been two months already, it just doesn't seem real...
Someone said this before and I think it’s really true. When you’re singing/rapping, you’re technically holding back your feelings so it doesn’t mess up your voice. But it’s also the thing that makes you feel the most, you feel so much when you’re singing or rapping but you can’t show them in your voice.
I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio in the car and it made me cry. Even on the radio without seeing Jay and his body language you could feel the emotion. Greatness recognises greatness. Linkin parks music imo is genuinely beautiful, Chester was clearly in so much pain and he took his pain and created something beautiful that resonated with so many.
This made me tear up, and I don’t listen to a lot of Linkin Park but I was a kid at the time they came up and I remember how much they took the world by storm. Lots of respect and gratitude to Jay-Z for such a moving, emotional performance.
Anyone notice the usual irritating BBC 1 noises at the beginning and end are missing? I assume they are silent out of respect for Chester...this was great, mad respect for Jay Z.
I dont listen to Jay-Z at all but this made me tear up man that pause and the hand in the air When it came to chesters part. So much respect for Jay-Z thank you for the awesome tribute
Bradfordtruman man you people are realy tryna pigeon hole me. Tbh i like the song more now than i did back when it came out but thats cuz the kinda of music i like has expanded darastically in the past few year. I used to dispise rap music due to it being coralated with bad ppl in my life. But im alot more open minded and enjoy alot more stuff now
Man jay put more emotion into this live lounge than I seen on stage with some artists… I prolly would’ve cried. You can see all the memories rushing back, when they were in the studio just chopping it up. He looks up and hopes that Chester can see that he gave this performance everything he had.
holy shit, the "chester" part onwards, really hit me in the feels, it's so weird and sad not seeing Chester during a live performance, and just hearing his voice.
This is the iconic and legendary crossover Jay Z when he goes into other musical genres. This man has been able to reinvent himself for 20 yrs. You got to respect Rip Chester
Man this was honestly really cool of Jay-Z to do this, especially with as much heart and authenticity in it ultimately honoring Chester, much respect to Jay. Perfect tribute keeping Chester's spirit alive through the music

After the first hook and listening to Chester's voice his whole demeanour softened. and for Jay to not echo a word in a song for that long... If you just watch his other tributes and such you can see there's a difference. It wasn't just respect to Chester, there was sadness in his eyes. Even in his interviews back then when they asked him about Chester and etc, his mode would always change. His responses never felt like a politically neutral statement or rehearsed. And this man is pretty damn smart at responding to questions and situations. I just wanna say thank you for your openness and willingness to do this Collab. Every time I watch the documentary, I smile when I get to see what you feel. From the start where you were still maybe apprehensive while heading over, to when you were listening to the beats and probably thinking ok I think we can do what MTV needs, to knowing MTV gonna owe you guys big time, to the respect you gave on stage and finally that look we all know after seeing Chester scream. You are a true G:entlemen. Btw, Collision Course was the 1st LP I ever bought. The memory of the first time I played that on my Technics, remembering practically running back to the player after to stop it after the 1st 10 seconds, feeling this deserves everything to be perfect. Spending the next few days tuning my system back and changing stylus. And finally when nobody was home at 2pm on a Tuesday, my neighbours thought I was pissed at my sister getting my Starbucks order wrong.
I'm with everyone. I didn't cry, but I got that feeling in my throat when Chester's part came up. And for Jay-Z to allow LP's part to speak for itself shows the amount of respect that Jay had for them.

talk to someone you trust about your issues. Most of the time you will be glad you did. If you cant fix your own life, try to help someone elses
Unless you have no one:(
Some people are just alone in all ways.
Go to a Doctor, if it's too much shit to talk in front of someone, write it all down.
Well said man.
