Another consideration is that an Enphase system will become a part of the home when you go to sell it, while the portable system perhaps not. Each has their pro’s and con’s in that scenario.

I have the DPU but found out my solar system using enphase micro inverters Will not work to charge the dpu if the grid goes down.

Yes that is a let down, but not surprising. I bought a 200w panel for mine and charge it while I’m using it on the rare occasion i use it. Otherwise it stays plugged in.

You need to get solar panels that aren't tied to the grid for the DPU.

@@dboucher26bingo, that is what I did, I got 4 panels not tied to the grid to keep it charged.

Rooftop solar PV that feeds the grid has complicated utility paperwork.
An offgrid Rooftop with batteries for no sun supply could be almost DIY.
Maybe a EV plugged in could be part of the DIY solution. A plug and play system ???

I wish that’s how easy vehicle to grid was or even to home.

@dronequote we will have to wait and see.
If CO2 worldwide slows, if the world population declines, then we will be on plan B and not plan A.
      Hahaha 👍 😆

Whoever creates the V2G connector design and the onboard electronics that combine with the selfparking feature will be a wealthy individual.
An industrial designer might do it.
Do you have any contacts ???
It needs to be a USA based initiative.
      😃🙂🙂🙂🙂
Drivers just pull into the parking space, and the vehicle connects.
On leaving, the driver drives off.
Invoice details connected to your home are part of the software communications.
Drive in, drive out, ezi pezi.

This analysis completely ignores the solar panel charging options which Enphase wins hands down. Really, this video is not even a useful comparison because they are intended to do different things. The ecoflow is more of a consumer grade DIY system intended for small backup needs over very short periods. Enphase is a professional system intended for real whole or partial home backup. This video is more like comparing a portable generator to a whole home standby generator of the same rating. Two different animals, two different use cases.

I don't recall, but I do think we stated in the video that it was an apples to oranges comparison. Although the end function of a battery or a generator is the same, while the use cases would be different, i think. They both provide a backup form of electricity.

@@dronequote that's not correct. A battery is an energy storage device. A generator doesn't store energy, it generates power. These inaccuracies are the things that confuse consumers.
A generator might "store" energy in a fuel tank. And a battery might "generate" power via an integrated inverter. It's important to be accurate. Regardless, comparing these two systems head to head for any particular use case is a real stretch and consumers need to understand that.

Agreed, but to be fair, to make an apples to apples comparison, you need to add the EG4 18KPV Hybrid Inverter, which is another $5K to compare it to the Ecoflow Ultra (~$9K total). You'll need to add 2 additional ecoflow batteries, which will jump the price of the ecoflow to $14k for these to be closely compared. Win goes to EG4 for sure.
