Jane Elliott is the most amazing actress! She had me in tears throughout the entire clip. She can express so much without saying a word. Just love watching her scenes, whether old or current day.
I think she's like most of the Quartermaines...they have a really nasty streak (and scary in some cases) but they can show compassion as well. The bit where she tells AJ to stay clean...well, that's brilliant. Not a side we usually see. Like Alan, there's scary Alan and then lovable Alan. I think that's what makes the Quartermaines so popular and why they work so well. These days, the only scenes I enjoy are the Alan ghost scenes.
These scenes aired 15 years ago (June 1993), and this is the first time I've seen them since they first aired. Tracy's exit was GH at its finest -- what incredibly heart-felt scenes, beautifully written and acted. Why can't the soaps find their heart again? David Lewis also retired from GH after Jane Elliot left. A month later Emma Samms left with another perfect exit. To me that was the end of GH's glory days...
@@appleridge David Lewis's late airdate was June 28, 1993. It's Jason's high school graduation reception at the Quartermaine house, and Edward and Lila have a scene alone together where they express their pride in their children and grandchildren and their gratitude to each other for the many years of marriage they have enjoyed. It's a very touching scene, and in the closing credits for the episode, a scene shot of David Lewis is the last one included in the montage. John Ingle's first episode as Edward was August 17, 1993.
@@rogerskarsten9895 Thanks for explaining because I was wondering that myself. No disrespect to John Ingle, rest his soul... he was a great Edward, but David's Edward had that ruthless quality that made him... intimidating.
scene like this between AJ and Tracy I don't see why they have to hate each other granted alot has happened since 93 but still they are more alike then different.
Okay... I never knew that this guy was the original AJ when they brought him back... I always thought the other guy that played AJ Quartermaine was the original AJ... interesting dot-dot-dot I like it because I think him and Jason look more alike
I agree. I think GH continued to be the GH that I loved up till probably 1999 or 2000. GH started to change around then and really became something other than "my" GH in 2003 or so.
I feel like 1998/1999 during Bob Guza’s first stint as the sole head writer of the show was when things began going downhill. 2001 was where we saw a big shift in the show due to Phelps becoming the show’s EP, despite Guza not being around. I will however say that once Guza came back in 2002, that was when the old GH seen here truly died out.
Lila was my favorite character on the show. Even squeaking past Audrey and Steve, though just barely. Lila Quartermaine is the matriarch, along with Alice Horton on Days of our Lives, that most people wish they had leading their family.
I want everybody to stop hating on Tracy, yes she has her moments but deep down inside she is a good woman with good intentions to spear, she never was given a chance to prove herself to run ELQ because she was a woman so she had no other choice to be selfish or money-hungry!
Probably age-appropriate, but thanks to SORASing, the actress and actor are only a few years apart in age. I think they even played lovers on another soap.
Gh producing writing should Tracy back to she's stick to Carly Tracy put Carly in place Bobbie can't Carly doesn't listening to nobody that's why she's always getting in trouble.
So many years later, I vividly remember this episode. I was a senior in high school.

Lila was probably the best Quartermaine of all. So gentle so sweet. But also stern when she needed to be.
I agree!!!! I been watching General Hospital for quite sometime now, and Lila was a sweet sweet lady.
She couldn't stand Katherine.
@@MRInvincible569yeah mainly because Katherine hit Lila's dog Annabelle
She's a bloody BRILLIANT actress.
Best mother & daughter duo on daytime!
I miss the greatness of this show
Yes, it’s very frustrating and depressing now.
Edward made Tracy the way she is she is the female version of her father
Like father, like daughter ;-)

Tracy with AJ was so gentle. Why couldn't she be like that throughout. The acting between her and Lila was beautiful
Tracy is getting gentler now. She's great with Finn and Cody.
I think she was taken back by his genuinely asking her if she was ok.
This is one of my favorite episodes of GH. I’m forever a fan of Jane Elliot.
Aww, I used to watch this at my elementary school babysitters house every day!

when was David Lewis' last airdate? I thought this was it
@@appleridge no it was a month later I think. John ingle took over in August 1993
So true. You'll never see an ensemble like this ever again.

wow i love this scene between tracy and aj i dont think i've seen them talk, let alone see then how tracy cared about AJ.
This was incredibly sad. I was too young to remember this.
honestly Tracy is no worse then the others Alan,Monica,Edward,Ned,AJ,Jason and all the others have done plenty of terrible things
:wibble: I've seen this many times--without sound! Thank you SO much for posting this clip. It was so amazing and sad. I love Jane Elliot.
Great scene...I love Tracy and Ned together...whether love or hate they have great chemistry
Thank you so much for posting that, I remember those scenes like it was yesterday!
She left multiple times. LOL I think this was the...second time.
Yes. Jane always returned when she needed $$. lol

Jane is a Genius!
Wally Kurth is still a very handsome man.

Lila was and the cutest ❤️

There were other A.J.'s before him... but he's the one I find preferable out of all of them.

Yeah I don't think she wants to team with AJ now...
