@@dualia-s74m Probably the dark version since that's the image that popped up in the True End. Which makes sense as the taint probably makes it easier to comprehend. It'd still kill him if he tried to project it, but he'd have enough strength for one swing

I think an important detail that was revealed in character material was the distinction that the main reason Shirou was able to do an almost perfect replica of Caliburn was because Avalon was made by Merlin from Caliburn's shattered remains. Since Shirou lived ten years with Avalon as part of his body it makes him predisposed toward the true Sword of King Arthur. That said, Archer has been proven in later iterations of the franchise to be able to project a false "Holy Sword" which he dubs "Excalibur Image", but only by using systems that allow him to cheat the world (like the Moon Cell's boosting of Unlimited Bladeworks' potential). Archer also mentions that he CAN project a Holy Sword with power almost equal to Excalibur though it would kill him, and we see that boast come true when Shirou DOES uses a projected Holy Sword.
What Mugen said, besides Excalibur is also one of those weapons that kind of draws a shit ton of mana from Gaia because Gaia allows it. There is basically no way Shirou who doesn't have the qualifications to wield Excalibur to hack the permission so to speak. Edit: and yeah Avalon more so.

petzkuh Its pronounced Tsurugi, because it's a lone kanji. Ken is pronounced if it has another kanji before it. Example : Maken, Seiken, etc.
Yeah, ken is onyomi while tsurugi is kunyomi, so tsurugi is the correct reading in this case.
