Ever since Prometheus it feels we’re still missing a lot of deleted scenes that could helped their respective films. Especially Covenant featuring multiple important event happening off screen.
Prometheus and Covenant give the audience too much credit. For example, for years now fans have been debating whether the inhabitants of Planet 4 were actually Engineers or not. Ridley Scott had to confirm they weren't Engineers recently in an interview. Despite the fact that the movie tells you, through David and Walter's flute conversation. The colony on Planet 4 are the Engineers second attempt after humans. Humans = David. The first version given the ability to create, but used the gift to be violent and unruly. Walter = people on Planet 4. Unable to create making them more docile and servile. These two Android characters aren't having said discussion about themselves for no reason. However media literacy is dead so this conversation has gone over most people's heads. Prometheus and Covenant have dozens of more examples of context, visual and verbal clues being missed by it's audience.
Idk it came across as a little silly to me. What was stopping him from just rolling to the side? All he did was get slashed in the face, it’s not like he was stuck or crippled
seeing even a smidgen more of chestburster footage would've been appreciated. it was way too underplayed in this movie. 70% facehuggers, 10% xenomorphs, 19% hybrid, 1% chestburster
The Bjorn alternate death scene might have been cut because they realized the Alien's tail wasn't long enough to stab him in the distance from the cocoon to the doorway.
Honestly out of everyone in this movie, Bjorn deserved to die. Anti-Android or not, the guy was just a horrible influence for the rest of the group. And with no redemption moment either, good riddance
@@jamestully156 The only time I noticed a legit increase in tail length was was the Scorched xeno caught Rain. The one where is stabs Tyler can be kinda debunked as the xeno could've been closer and then climbed up.
Yeah obviously right?… But I don’t think Alien Theory is completely off there, a mix of both scenes would be really nice! 👀 Stab him quickly without any levitating right after leaving, make the egg twitch a bit in fury maybe right before that, and then it misses 1 quick stab but hits the next one and sends him toppling down right beneath it 😄 More action, less stupid, and it makes sense! At least, it seems more natural to me.
Maybe, even if the alien didn't know exactly what a pulse rifle is they are smart enough to pick up that 'lunch' appears to be pointing something at them and their demeanor seems different enough for it to want to hesitate before going in for the munch. They probably can detect all sorts of chemical changes in humans that their instincts could warn them about.
Makes a lot of sense, if you look for them you can find all sorts of videos of dogs and cats managing to scare off bears and other bigger predators by not backing down or even charging them, every animal has a survival instinct and predators are no exception, when a prey animal stands its ground it typically causes them to stop and reassess the situation because even if they win they can still get injured enough that it will screw them over in the long term.
@@KnightYellow Yeah often times the Freeze response can save an animals ass because most predators expect to chase and catch something so their prey just...standing there makes them have second thoughts, since it's not like they know for sure what they want to eat isn't some crazy honey badger level threat. If I remember right I think there's some debate about Face being another fear response in addition to Fight, Flight, Fawn and Freeze. It's kinda in between Fight and Freeze.
The alien backing away at the gun scene reminds me of how in Alien Isolation if you pull out the flamethrower after using it on the alien before, it freezes because it gets scared and stops in its tracks before continuing to attack you. They know what the weapons can do.
Man, i really was hoping they’d include the scene Mike’s Monsters talked about with the offspring just straight up becoming a xenomorph. he said he saw an early cut of the film because he was involved with viral marketing, and that was a big difference in the final product. there’s concept art of it too. the final boss of the movie not being a xenomorph at all didn’t resonate with me very well, and it felt like admitting the design isn’t as scary as it used to be. I hope we get to see this alternate version someday. Loved the video, very thorough!
HOnestly that "extra arc" is my least favorite. It felt enitrley extra to me, and un needed. I think if it hadn't had any kind of "hatching plot" and they had left her preggers and "the answer hanging" but had a xeno that had snuck aboard. I think that would've been okay. but honestly I think the movie should have ended with her being placed into the hibernation, and then others hibernating with the lingering shot of the pregnant belly. it really felt like an epilogue DLC mission in a game.
I quite liked it myself, it felt like a scarier more uncanney and better executed version of the one from Resurrection. And if you ask me the real stars of this movie were the Facehuggers, who in my opinion have always been scarier. Xenomorphs generally will just kill you, it won't be pleasant but most of the time it's a quick death. Getting chest bursted is truly nightmarish, especially if you know what's gonna happen ahead of time. I think this was great I just hope they don't forget about Xenomorphs, like if there was a future where they all changed then that would be super lame but they should always make use of the fact that Xenomorphs change based on the host, it's too much fun not to. I want to see a Xenomorph Horse damn you or maybe even a Queen that bursts out of something bigger than usual.
Your channel is fantastic- you consistently put out engrossing and intelligent analyses and commentary on a subject that we’re all passionate about, and in a way that’s scholarly but also very accessible and highly satisfying. That’s a real rarity in the world of TH-cam channels that focus on a single subject, and you deserve recognition for just plugging away and quietly achieving your channel’s purpose and your audience’s happiness. Right on, mate!
Fortuitous timing my friend; my wife and I sat down to watch Romulus on Hulu not three hours ago. Her first viewing, I saw it in IMAX opening weekend. I really appreciated the ability to pause the stream and gather more pizza for us or have a smoke break, but I digress… The flow and tension are important even for home viewing but I remember spending three days with the DVD Quadrology immersing myself in the commentary and extended scenes as well. I truly hope the exclusion of these features isn’t just a ploy to grab cash later, if you get my drift. Great work, keep it up
In Alien 4 they understood the push of a button, in the laboratory, the one that released freezing gas. So they understanding the danger of a machine gun is not weird. Someone else thought that the alien cycle was too fast? Before, facehuggers had to be latched for hours, and it took some time until they burst out of the chest. Now it all happened in 5 minutes.
@@hknil8966 Wow, thats a very stupid explanation that you pulled out from your ass. They extract the black goo from the aliens, they dont modify them with it. That´s like saying ketchup tastes like ketchup because you put ketchup on top of it. The easiest explanation is that we know the drill already, and we know how the scene ends, so the director doesnt spend any time on it. Which to me , it´s a pity.
Thank you for showing us the deleted scenes Alien Theory. Btw, I really love your channel. I’m glad the Alien Universe is being kept alive by channels and content like yours does. I really wanted to love this film. Sadly, my utter expectations fell into deep disappointment. The first half an hour or so of the movie was awesome. However, for me I think the huge lack lustre factor came from no real feel of dread like the original films engaged us with. The whole concept of scavenger hunters landing on a deserted space station had so much potential but failed in delivering an ominous feel throughout, something that both Alien and Aliens immersed us with from start to finish. A commentary version is a must have with the Alien franchise otherwise perspectives cannot be discussed or appreciated. This is why your channel rocks my friend. Keep up the great work.
Directors Commentary is one of the big things for me to buy a Edition. I'd love to have one for Alien Romulus, maybe one Day we will have one. To me Alien Romulus is in the top 3 of the Franchise. Thank you Alien Theory
The facehugger sensing heat or rapid heart rate makes no sense when the Sulaco ones locked into the cryotubes with their occupants at low temperature in the beginning of Alien 3.
I feel that Bjorn's death, as presented in the final cut is more in keeping in line with how much of an asshole his character was and give him a death that is fitting for the type of person that he was.
He should have turned in to the lead (for real) no one would have expected it. Rain gets got halfway through, Bjorn teams up with Andy and had a redemption arc. Everyone is sick of the final girl trope in these movies
@@HumanHamCubeWhile I enjoy Rain's character and believe her actress did a good job, I can't help but agree with you. That would be a really cool twist and an opportunity for some surprising character development
Thought the same thing. Essentially, I thought Fedé was going for an "every type of death scene" from the series. Alien - Chest burster, Grabbed x 2, mouth bite-- Aliens, chest burster, grabbed x 5, grenade, chest stabbed, Alien 3 - mouth bite, grabbed x 6 etc. To that point, each of the deaths had to be meaniful, so I'm glad they cut it. The acid death was pretty horrifying which was the point.
It was only today after reading your comment I see that Bishop was not the only chess piece named part in aliens. Queen. As if I never got that hahahah.
I think cutting the small jump scare was a good decision. It violates the established rules. The big jump scare works because it's just an android's mangled body. Her reacting in fear to a facehugger would have caused it to attack. It not doing that breaks the established rules described by Andy.
@nickynegron3515 yea. I think they did show camera footage during the attack when Rook was explaining what happened. It was on small screens though and you could only see people running and the cameras shutting off. Really wish we could've seen Big Chap in action.
a flashback or just making this movie strictly about that would've been far better imo. people arguing "well everyone dies so what's the point" is dumb - they could easily write of a lone survivor, or more, that manage an escape
Is the hanging body missing the back of his head Fede Alvarez’s face and likeness? Put glasses on that hanging guy that’s Fede, 100%. I have to agree Derek, the theatrical cut of the halway of facehuggers was much better and it scared the shit out of me. Fede got me with every single jump scare, 🤣. The pacing of the theatrical cut was perfect and I’m happy they chose that version for the final film. Fascinating to see how scenes are changed throughout the filing and editing process. Great content Derek, really looking forward to Alien Earth. So happy the Alien series is back on track.
More Alien content is best. Commentaries, deleted and alternate scenes, directors cuts, all of that is a gold mine of content and should be available to the public.
I'm not a fan of her touching the Facehugger and they're being no ramifications for it. I feel like If you're trying to sneak by them and you touch one of them that should trigger an attack. I'm glad they removed it I think it makes the scene less scary
I think it's cool how the cocoon scene could be seen as a metaphor for birth (both visually and symbolically). In that it can bring life as well as take it.
I found Alien Romulus good enough in it's own right. Nothing you showed would have made any difference, ultimately, to the plot/outcome etc. I would agree on the commentary aspect, even if I don't normally watch/listen to them, it's nice to have the option. Thanks for an informative video as ever. Your quality is always welcome.
Can someone explain to me how they could find Big Chap among the remains of the Nostromo, if he was not on board when it exploded? Remember, Big Chap explodes in space after Ripley incinerates it with the Narcissus's engines. You can even hear the explosion of the bug when Ripley is looking at it through the airlock. Also, when Ripley releases the capsule from its anchor, the Nostromo and its cargo leave Ripley behind at high speed before exploding, thousands of kilometers later. Also, if the xenomorph had survived, it would travel in the opposite direction to the ship, due to the impulse received from the Narcissus's engines. The beginning of ALIEN ROMULUS is not plausible. The Nostromo and the refinery were vaporized by the explosion of its 2.8 terawatt fusion reactor. Three explosions, which left few remains larger than the head of a pin, after such a detonation.
If the script had Big Chap as the main protagonist in the film, silently stalking the characters like it did on the Nostromo, it would've been much more interesting. Other cloned xenos could've been shown, but Chap is only shown in detail at the end of the movie, very deformed and scarred from Ripley's harpoon gun and the burns from the escape shuttle's thrusters.
With all the greatest respect to you my friend, this was the first Alien universe movie that I actually wanted the aliens to win. The cast, story and overall feeling of the movie was utter crap. Almost like a bad TV movie. So many people settle for crap like this nowadays, people's standards have severely dropped.
New ALIEN fans need to watch the 1979 classic and ROMULUS back-to-back to see the huge drop in quality. What a sh*t film ROMULUS was. I can't believe it was (supposedly) so successful.
Everyone was raving about this so I went to see and OMG what a steaming pile of shit. The first 20 minutes were interesting then it just went down hill fast and just got worse. The entire film was just remixed scenes from the original movies but made worse. An absolute pointless endeavour. I really can't believe people are loving it.
@@burtie80 Yeah, it's sh*t. I passed on seeing it at the cinema, but I did see a good quality TH-cam upload of the full movie - why do I still feel ripped off?
The Aliens would already know what a pulse rifle is capable of because of the shared memories with XX-121 and how it was destroyed. Remember, we know because of the prequel comic that there was a security detachment onboard the station, hence the blasted corpse.
I wish the cast was older though. The screaming and crying of kids was a tad annoying but it didn't ruin it. The acting wasn't very great either minus the guy who plays Andy the android. He was good at his part, especially when he got the new chip in his head there...The main actress girl's love interest wasn't bad either. I could do without the Asian girl though. Glad she was taken out first. She was just dreadful. Take all that away and it was a pretty good Alien. I'd say out of all the straight Alien movies this is prob the 3rd best imo after Alien and Aliens. I think just having an adult cast like say 30 somethings or even late 20 somethings would have grounded it much better.
yes the face hugger should have remained on the back of the head, there is a dark depth to the whole idea of it! wonder if the corpse is a latex cast of Fede Alvarez? 🎉
The crazy thing is we have literally terminator military robots in the Alien universe but NEVER are they used or implemented against alien itself...... likely because alien would lose.
I like how the alternative version gives bjorn a bit more redemption by not being dumb before dying and the single drop of acid onto the heaart is also really cool, maybe a bit difficult to understand for the viewer, the theatrical cut is a bit more obvious with the painful death
Hive's first contact/the gun scene: the deleted version definitely feels like another callback to Aliens and Ripley pointing the flamethrower at the eggs. Glad they went with the theatrical version instead.
Thank you for this informative vid and sharing the deleted scenes with us :) I think sooner or later they will be a direct cut of that movie. There are at least economic reasons for those responsible to do. Surely an “Alien” enthusiast will prevail and I would welcome a directors cut version. Alien Romulus is a very good Alien movie though, right behind the first two legends :)
The Xenos were wasted in this movie. Once they show up it's just a speed run of previous movies until we get into the Alien Resurrection ending. It's a shame. One person with a pulse rifle just wipes out the hive.
@@bjrnhalfhand2258 "One person with a pulse rifle just wipes out the hive" Bro, that's the literal description of what Ripley did during the climax of "Aliens" (with a young girl in tow AND adding a queen and multiple facehugger eggs), and nobody complains about that.
@@bjrnhalfhand2258 Then perhaps you should be more specific. Going by how you worded it, It's the same: Ripley is one person, she had a pulse rifle, and she took out the Hive. Now the specifics are what makes the scenario a bit different: Ripley's rifle had an under-mounted grenade launcher, she taped a flamethrower to the rifle, and was also carrying a belt of grenades, plus the area blew up. Context is key.
I've been a crazy alien and predator fan since Alien first came out when I was a little kid. I was excited to take my young daughter to see this film and see loved it. I found myself coming out a little disappointed with the Aliens in the film. In the first 3 films, the aliens are almost unstoppable killing machines that stalk their prey almost like lions in the grass. In this film, they build up to the aliens appearing and they are then pretty much all wiped out in seconds by an amateur with a single rifle.......very disappointing how easily and quickly they are dispatched.
To be fair, A: They were probably "stunned" by being in zero gravity as theres not a whole lot they can do floating about. B. The amateur had a rifle with an aim assist. She's merely just holding the gun and then pulling the trigger when the targeting system locks on. C. They did also go out pretty quickly in some parts of Aliens.
@reverbtheraptor8529 think back to the gang of highly trained marines with smart guns, grenades and all sorts....that ventured into a hive in Aliens. Remember how menacing the whole environment was and how badly they got their arses kicked while trying to withdraw.....there was none of that feeling this time around. Another scene that always sticks in my mind as a kid that shows how lethal they are was a little scene in Alien 3. A bit where they are all chatting away and painting up the tunnels and vents with the flammable liquid to trap it. There's a scene filmed from high up a big vertical air vent looking down on a bloke paint beneath the vent and then for a second, the aliens head comes in to shot as it quietly moves to looks down on its prey like a lion positioning itself quietly in the grassy plains to strike at a deer. The head the moves out of shot and it dissappear to position itself. This for me, was a really good scene that showed just how stealthy, clever and dangerous the aliens are and that they aren't just mindless killing machines.
Totally agree. The Xenomorph was wasted in this movie. Once they appear, it's a speed run of Aliens until we get to the Alien Resurrection ending. Almost a hive full of Xenos wiped out in a few minutes by one person with a gun. Wow.
Enjoyed Alien: Romulus and all the Easter eggs therein! An extended director's cut would be great, especially if it included more scenes on the planet.
Xenos should absolutely be able to recognize objects that can do them harm as most animals can do this to some degree. This wouldn't require impressive cognitive abilities. In-fact, this is probably a core tenet of Darwinian Evolution
As an old buck who sits in the camp of not being a big fan of Ridley Scott's newer films, I understand that there are lots of dedicated fans out there that like them and sees their worth. But based off your thoughts on the reasoning behind the 'Romulus Lab (Alternate)' deleted scene, it would've been interesting to see a cut of Romulus independent of the newer films, and what new concepts they would've used to bring the film home in the climax.
5:00 The mini scare-jump scare is probably a little nod to the scene in Alien when they are looking for the Face Hugger and Scott does a couple of similar bait and switches with the loud bang of Dallas blundering into a table and Ash looking in the corner before an AD drops the puppet on Ripley. (love that moment) In fairness, it's also become a bit of a horror staple/trope
I'm glad they didn't have her bump into a facehugger first. That scene was already toning down their deadliness alittle bit to extend tension. I dont see you surviving if it openly knows you're there.
Seen Romulus 4 times. The three additional times were intended for analyzing it and my conclusion is, IT SUCKS for Alien fans as a true successor to the franchise for three main reasons. 1) Far too much repeated storytelling from previous films and scenes that removed originality. There are FAR TOO MANY fan boy call outs and it gets weird after awhile (I'm a mega fan of the first two films and I got annoyed with it). 2) The Xenos and facehuggers looked and acted more mechanical than organic. Watch Aliens and see how so much more slimy and slick they are than Romulus. It looked like they tried to innovate from Aliens, but it fell short of that true organic/real feel of how those creatures would interact on screen. the facehuggers were the worst as in Aliens they are so damn good and simple whereas Romulus they kept using more robotics for individual movements and it is VERY noticeable. 3) The ending. Why did they double or tripple down on the same evac out the airlock scenerio as the first two films blended with a hybrid Xeno (Resurrection reattempt?). We have already seen it and it really wasn't warranted by fans to have a creature as such look hardly like a Xeno in the first place and act slow, stupid (Xenos are highly intelligent), and detached from the lore. So If I ever watch Romulus ever again, it is because I'm either paid to do so or it will help me get laid that night. Game over man, Game Over!
@@CyrilSneer123 I find it the most funny, how people seem to like the Hybrid baby in this movie is beloved, but makes as much "sense" or even less, than the Hybrid baby from Alien 3. But that one people dislike for some weird reason
thnx for sharing mate. Yes please, Directors Cut is fine :) I've come to enjoy the movie more and more. AND, even more important: see the pro's over the con's. The first time I saw it in the cinema I was put off by the Hudson and Ripley quote and all the mechanical sounds that were either from Alien or Aliens. But it's "fine" now. Going to watch some more of it now
Really good insight, I don't think having another character speared by a xeno tail would be too much as that's there thing in the novels, we really need a directors cut though.
It felt like resurrection confirmed they could know what guns are. The alien in that movie used a trail of discarded weapons on the ground to lure one of the main characters away and kill him. My head canon is they have the intelligence the host they birthed from had.
I thought the Prometheus callout in the lab was a little too on the nose. Prefer the more subtle nod. Way too much fan service and "memberberries" in this movie. The reason that they took out the warning fire scene is they'd already set up that the guns auto aim. That would have just confused the audience. I also think the xenomorphs are supposed to be extremely smart. They mirror our biology and have those giant craniums. The levitating visual has been done in Aliens when Bishop was lifted. I think it was good they didn't do that. The distance that tail was supposed to have lifted him was enormous. My main complaint with this movie is how the alien went from facehugger to full grown xenomorph in 15 minutes of the diagetic world of the film. Totally preposterous and defies the laws of physics and biology. Every other movie in the series had the good sense to imply this process happened over several days.
I agree with you on everything here except the growth rate. I would say it takes hours, as Ripley tells the marines in Aliens that just one of those things took my entire crew out in less than 24 hours.
The gestation rate had already been all over the place in the series. At this point the alien comes out exactly when it needs to. Personally I wish they would have cut out the "Get away from her, you bitch!" scene. It made absolutely no sense to have Andy say that and it just felt like they were ticking boxes on a page with the callbacks.
@@xKinjax I agree with the gestation rate. Something they should have set in stone as hard and fast rules, no bending. Andy's quote was just one of many check boxes that had me rolling my eyes in the theatre.
@@NotMorganFreeman. I feel like there's good ways to do callbacks and just give longtime fans nice tidbits to enjoy that the rest of the audience won't get and very bad ways. Mentioning Seegson or having parts of the station resemble Sevastopol Station are tasteful and fun nods to the audience. Having Ian Holm's virtual corpse on strings or characters yell out phrases that are clearly out of character is extremely distasteful. The Ash one in particular really bothered me because for me the implication in the original movie was that Ash was "one of a kind" since you can't really have hidden infiltrator androids if there's 20 of them walking around the office building every day. There was literally no reason for Rook to look like Ash except for the freaking "omg omg look at that!!" reaction they were hoping to get from the audience.
@@xKinjax That's the same thing I said. Tasteful, subtle nods, things that your eye may or may not catch. I'm all for that, but that seems like a lost art nowadays. I'm right there with you. When I saw Ian Holm's (poorly done) representation you could have knocked me over with a feather. From the nostromo nameplate, to big chap to Ash, to Ash's famous last line, to get away from her, to Rain signing off, and on and on, it was just far too much.
I think the reason they didn't go with the Alien backing away from a gun scene was actually due to S.D. Perry's Alien Labyrinth. In that book it is confirmed that Xenomorphs will always attack a threat to their hive regardless of the danger to the drone itself and do so above all other needs. The fact that they included the Plagiarus praepotens from Cold Forge shows that they were very aware of the different novels in the franchise and what they had to offer.
The movie does already confirm they know that something being pointed at them like a gun is dangerous. After Rain gets to Andy there's Xenomorphs on the wall that move towards her, she points the rifle and they stop in their tracks and hiss at her. Then they slowly follow her, keeping their distance until she is with her back to the wall at the zero gravity scene.
Except in Alien and especially Aliens they didn't care and just kept pursuing them, crawling over other aliens corpses to get to their target. This movie lacked that tension.
11:00 I'd say that the 'deterrent' idea is borne out a little later when Rain goes back for Andy; we see a few xenos crawling along the wall towards them, Rain aims the weapon at them and they stop. I read this as Andy's hypothesis being correct, as they hold back for quite a while before trying again to get to our heroes.
Bjorn looks to be paralyzed & watching his death in the alternate cut. I don’t think it’s better but was frustrated as to why he lays in dripping acid vs rolling away in the theatrical cut.
I cannot imagine if Alien: Romulus was still released as a streaming version only. Really hope the physical release will have a commentary track. So interesting to watch them.
We've seen Xenomorphs stand down to threats, especially in situations where the numbers aren't in their favor. In Aliens it was Ripley and the Flamethrower as well as the sentry turrets that killed enough bugs for them to fall back and try another way. In the AVP game while playing as the alien you can see the different threat levels of enemies, and again in the AVP films. When the numbers are lower the individual bugs seem to be smarter.
Ever since Prometheus it feels we’re still missing a lot of deleted scenes that could helped their respective films. Especially Covenant featuring multiple important event happening off screen.
yep. each of these films that are supposed to bridge the gap between the films leave us with more questions than answers.

The Bjorn alternate death scene might have been cut because they realized the Alien's tail wasn't long enough to stab him in the distance from the cocoon to the doorway.
I mean, Scorch stabs Tyler with his tail from like a 20-30 ft ceiling so I doubt that’s the case. It was probably cut cuz it was too long of a scene.

Having the face hugger trying to find a host and poking it's fingers through from the back is cold AF
@@zwordsman nah, we've had enough mystery boxes from JJ Abrams, keep his edgy riddles away from Alien
Mr H reviews has an interview with the designer/artist Dane Hallet, who talks about that scene specifically. It’s very good
@@FalseH3shame how much H fell off over the years, he became an annoying "anti-woke" fucktard last time I saw him
I quite liked it myself, it felt like a scarier more uncanney and better executed version of the one from Resurrection.
I hear in the next movie that just seeing a facehugger can cause an alien to burst from your chest. That's so scary!
Do we not watch movies with our eyes AND HEADS?
Theyre genetically modified, made from scratch with the black goo and thus explains the cycle
It was over 24 hours in the original film.
@@BullyMaguire4ever yeah, Ash even made an autopsy on the facehugger before anything else happened.
Loved the film but... yes, would love to see an 'alternative' or 'directors cut' version with more footage and longer running time!
Best comment🙏👍
I would like to see a cut that removes all the stupid callback lines
Directors Commentary is one of the big things for me to buy a Edition. I'd love to have one for Alien Romulus, maybe one Day we will have one. To me Alien Romulus is in the top 3 of the Franchise. Thank you Alien Theory
@@mariozimmermann7307 this film is definitely the third best in the franchise but it has problems. And also f*ck all the haters.
The facehugger sensing heat or rapid heart rate makes no sense when the Sulaco ones locked into the cryotubes with their occupants at low temperature in the beginning of Alien 3.
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving everyone in the Comments and you too Alien Theory for making awesome videos.
The type of person who values human life and is willing to sacrifice his own to preserve it? Nah
I mean, the queen made Bishop levitate before she tore him in half.
I really wish they would've filmed Big Chap cause the damage we see that he did in the film. Or at least a quick flashback .
That should have been a security footage segment, thrown in with the rest of the backstory Rook provides
The original alien creature should have never been near this film. Just ridiculous contrivance
YES!!
THANKS FOR THIS!
Also, Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍽️

Its nice to see an alien channel that actually covers aliens

I found Alien Romulus good enough in it's own right. Nothing you showed would have made any difference, ultimately, to the plot/outcome etc. I would agree on the commentary aspect, even if I don't normally watch/listen to them, it's nice to have the option.
Thanks for an informative video as ever. Your quality is always welcome.

Pretty much all of these extended scenes should've been included. They're just cool af.
ROMULUS is a sh*t movie. It doesn't make perfect sense. The script was written on a single sheet of toilet paper.

But shhhh! don't tell anyone.

Wouldn't want it to be more of a rip off lol
The whole film was callbacks with no originality.
Amazing how a lonely lass can kill the zenos when the security onboard couldn't

I think sooner or later they will be a direct cut of that movie. There are at least economic reasons for those responsible to do. Surely an “Alien” enthusiast will prevail and I would welcome a directors cut version.
Alien Romulus is a very good Alien movie though, right behind the first two legends :)
Agreed I miss commentary tracks. I like hearing the process, things that happen during scene, rewrites and ablibs
Alternate cuts or more shown that was left out is always cool to see
Seeing aliens stand around and get mowed down when the plot needs it is the worst sin this movie did. Worse than cheap cgi ash
It was practical with cgi lol
The Xenos were wasted in this movie. Once they show up it's just a speed run of previous movies until we get into the Alien Resurrection ending.
It's a shame. One person with a pulse rifle just wipes out the hive.
@@bjrnhalfhand2258 "One person with a pulse rifle just wipes out the hive"
Bro, that's the literal description of what Ripley did during the climax of "Aliens" (with a young girl in tow AND adding a queen and multiple facehugger eggs), and nobody complains about that.
@@Mechasonicrocks I suggest you rewatch Aliens. Ripley shoots maybe 2 Xenos and the eggs. It's not the same thing at all.
Wow.
Yes! Not to mention how weak the facehuggers were. As soon as one gets on you is pretty much over, let alone actually latch on to you.
Am i the only one who was rooting for the Xenomorphs?
Yes
No, I was too. Didn't like any of these awful forgettable characters.
Lets be fair, even the Xenos failed to take out the cardboard cut outs, I was routing for the Vacuum of space, that was the real Hero.
No. It was a terrible cast.
I've Always Supported Director's Cuts of Films, and the Alien Franchise has never failed to impress. I theorize that an Ultimate Cut will soon follow.
I just realised that dead body is Fede Alvarez, love this stuff!
The "lingering shot of this poor dead man's face" at 3:24, is I think director Fede Alvarez.
Bjorn death here helped me under stand why it looked like somthing popped, didnt consider it was his hart deflating out the hole
Still find it funny how the movie borrows from all the Alien movies that came before it.
Direct rip off of the originals. Some scenes are so similiar it's embarassing. For that it gets an even worse rating from me.

thnx for sharing mate. Going to watch some more of it now
A Director commentary is a must for bluray and DVD releases.
I would love a directors cut with more details of the background and stories cause I fell in love with these characters and want to know more abt them
Love this Channel
We need a comentary track. I too was thinking about how much I miss them.
Great analysis! I adore this channel!
Really good insight, I don't think having another character speared by a xeno tail would be too much as that's there thing in the novels, we really need a directors cut though.
Theatrical version looks to be better and the best call over all. Awesome stuff!
This was well done great explanation description very interesting
Finally got to see the movie today, I liked the movie, though it felt pretty different having such a young cast.
The quadrillogy is amazing. Anything extra from this i.p is welcome.
Omg they already knew that since alien and aliens you goof when they hit El wit the flamethrowers
Don’t gotta tell me lol. I’m just replying to him wondering about it.
@@florisvdwetering lmfao oh ok my apologies
Except in Alien and especially Aliens they didn't care and just kept pursuing them, crawling over other aliens corpses to get to their target. This movie lacked that tension.
@NotMorganFreeman. Yup .this movie sucked
Yes I always would like a longer cut or an alternate cut. Sad to see standards lost instead of increased.
I would love to see a directors cut of Alien Romulus on blu-ray like how we got the other unrated cuts of the previous Alien movies
I think a director's cut could nicely accompany a future film installment to help boost awareness and hype.
I cannot imagine if Alien: Romulus was still released as a streaming version only.
Really hope the physical release will have a commentary track. So interesting to watch them.
16:47 I love alternate versions ❤
We've seen Xenomorphs stand down to threats, especially in situations where the numbers aren't in their favor. In Aliens it was Ripley and the Flamethrower as well as the sentry turrets that killed enough bugs for them to fall back and try another way.
In the AVP game while playing as the alien you can see the different threat levels of enemies, and again in the AVP films. When the numbers are lower the individual bugs seem to be smarter.
