So happy for her. I started supporting Ukrainian athletes after the happenings from a few years ago, because it takes real courage, tenacity and belief, even hope to still get out here and compete. I remember watching Stefka Kostadinova on TV in 1988 at the Seoul games. I didn´t see it when she set the WR but during all these years I knew it was going to be very hard to beat it. It´s incredible how it stood for so many years. Congratulations to both Yaroslava and Stefka.

Ever since I was little I can remember Ukrainians being such incredible athletes across so many sports. People forget it's a big country with 40 million people. They are very impressive on the athletic stage.

На 2.06 м она прыгнула в зале в 2021 году, лучший результат на стадионе - 2.05 м в 2023 году. Получается. что она прибавила сразу 5 см !?!?!? Интересно было бы послушать мнения хороших специалистов по этому поводу. На сколько мне известно, на высотах,которые выше 2,0 м улучшение результата даже на 1 см даётся с величайшим трудом. Почему-то вспомнилась фраза: "цель оправдывает средства".

Stefka Kostadinova's jump record in 1987 (the video) shows that she jumps well above 2.09, I read 30 years ago in some newspaper that her jump was actually 2.15, but of course the height of the bar counts. Today this record fell! Long live the new queen of the high jump!

No., Kostadinova 2.09 jump also touched the bar. It was visibly shaken and you can see it from the video on TH-cam.
I saw this jump from the video of a different camera - she jumped well above the bar, actually.

As I wrote, there was an article and a computer analysis that the height she jumped was slightly below 215 cm. But she made a mistake in pushing off and touched and shook the bar with her bottom. Whereas with Yaroslava it is the exact opposite. She touched the bar with her spine, exactly 210 cm, no more, but she did a very good push-up.
@@electronichome1153 In high jump with this style (Fosbury flop,) you can jump over the bar even with the center of gravity being lower than the bar throughout. You cannot use the position the spine at one moment to judge. In the properly excluded jumps, the bottom of the butt is the lowest point over.
