1:10:45 I love that this is both a deck where playing carrot cake can be better than fable or wandering emperor, and that it’s good enough it even got vetoed. I miss when standstill was more viable, but glad we can watch this version of it!
For the Sac matchup, one of my favorite sideboard cards is Valkmira (the shield side of Reidane). It doesn't stop the cat combo, but it completely turns off Mayhem Devil and generally makes most of their creatures useless in combat.
@@carsonbos472 I've had multiple Sac opponents on Arena scoop in frustration after a few turns trying to play against Valkmira because the client has to ask them every time they sac a token with Mayhem Devil out whether they want to pay 1 to deal zero damage.
These games were awesome and make me want to get into pioneer. These board states and gameplay are what I dream of when I'm thinking about when I dream of powering up my limited decks.
I play against a variation of this deck in Standard fairly often. It's nice to see how evil the mirror looks, if only to justify my decision to stay as far away from it as possible
As someone who just started playing Explorer on Arena love to see more Pioneer content (And hopefully we will just have Pioneer on MTGA soooon.... Though been thinking of getting into Moto so I can make a Legacy and or Modern Deck)
Sunken Citadel really is very good. Ik you said tapped lands are a death sentence in Legacy, but i feel there has to be a place for a land that taps for 2. Itd be a fun thing to look into. If theres a deck that can run it and not be held back by it.
I played against this deck was really fun although i turned it into a hostage situation because i was playing some jank eldrazi x lands deck and well one spell a turn would be an issue... if i wasnt just casting one eldrazi a turn and using my mana on those ultiliy lands. Really love the bounce land desert ancient tomb, spelunky, and hour of promise.
32:32 had nothing to do with them not drawing extra cards. It would still give a counter for the draw step… if they controlled any creatures at the beginning of combat. But the Phoenixes were all still on the graveyard and that ability requires a target to be placed on the stack
Just based on the Boros tokens deck that does this in standard - no Ubrask’s forge? That thing with the talent is nuts and is a great engine that doesn’t require spells to be cast
I’d guess fable replaced it since fable achieves the same thing while also requiring more removal to deal with it and offering mana acceleration + card advantage.
Do you keep up with formats like Pioneer so that you can be well-versed [enough] for a video, or do you just do a little research beforehand? I got the impression that you play some
Can't help but notice that the deck is one carrot cake away from being able to run creativity -> atraxa. I don't play pioneer much anymore but I'm guessing that's not nothing?
I tried so hard to love Pioneer but, unfortunately, anytime something is good they ban it. The format somehow becomes worse standard at every opportunity.
The complaint from the pioneer players, myself included, is that they take too long to ban obviously broken things. Sorin and Amalia were around for 2 and a half miserable months longer than they should have been. I also play and watch Legacy and enjoy it, but I don’t understand this complaint about pioneer. I don’t understand the appeal of leaving broken stuff legal.
Very suprised to never see Carrot Cake bargained to torch. Thought that was a sweet interaction when I saw the deck.
Ditto
This is the first time a deck on this channel was in reach of my Arena collection. This could be fun
Been playing Saffron Olives Boros Prison deck on Arena reccently which is pretty close to this deck and can say its beeeen tons of fun!
Same for me, mostly. It uses cards from current and former standard decks.

Love to see Pioneer content on the channel
There’s a bunch more in the pipeline. :)
@@BoshNRollLet’s fucking goooo!!!!
Refering to Ormendal as the Juice is hilarious
First time seeing an Elspeth, sun's champion in a 60 card constructed format since she was the scourge of standard.
For the Sac matchup, one of my favorite sideboard cards is Valkmira (the shield side of Reidane). It doesn't stop the cat combo, but it completely turns off Mayhem Devil and generally makes most of their creatures useless in combat.
That is hysterical

I really love the concept of having an army of ravenous bunnies to send at your opponent.
Elspeth Sun's Champion makes me so happy.
Getting rid of that authority of the consuls may have sped up the clock against your opponent.
These games were awesome and make me want to get into pioneer. These board states and gameplay are what I dream of when I'm thinking about when I dream of powering up my limited decks.
Smoking my fable pack call that shit a high noon
Lmao this is gold
Hell yeah, dude, I just built this deck and was dismayed that there wasn't really any video of it.
I love the occasional pioneer and standard content, good luck at the RC!
I have also seen this deck with Possibility Storm
Cake command: scry, make a token, draw a card (you don't even have to choose!)
Love the occasional pioneer video!

bosh pack stay still if youre standing

1:29:43 you had the chance to swing in with all and then say something corny like "It's high noon." while saccing high noon for lethal.
Elspeths smite is also really nice in the board exiles phoenix and many other 3 powers great for aggressive decks
1:20:08 Bosh spitting out truth right here.
At 32:37 I believe you could’ve bargained with the cake to draw a card on the opponent turn. If that’s what you want for value reasons.

3:20 would you say Fable is good at breaking the mirror match? 🤔

Aw its not the version with the possibility storm lock
39:15 - are we? Are we not doing Phrasing anymore?
13:00 - Why would using March on a token cost you the Beza from your hand? The token is a 0, and you can March for 0.
Streamer brain moment.
I see the word Landstill I click on the video
Same
Pioneer is the ideal format because I love this BBBBBBBBIG BOROS bullshit lmao
This might convince me to play pioneer
Well this explains why high noon went from 50c to $3 over the last few days.
I paused the vid to laugh about milling three Arclight Phoenix being Buried Alive, then you said it!
Is portable hole any good against Izzet Phoenix in these situations? It hits Ledger Shredder and Prankster, but not the namesake Phoenix.

I love playing this deck. Push token control directly into my veins pls 🙃
1:05:20 you could have put +1/+1 on opponent's token and one side wipe the board

I’m always aware of what’s going on in the potentially-competitive formats
Ormendahl J Simpson will never not be a based nickname
Its crazy to me that like 90% of this deck is standard legal.
There is a standard version with urabrask’s forge
@@carsonbos472 Yeah I know I actually play the Monowhite version. I just really wasn't expecting to see it in Pioneer.

There are creativity versions, yeah.
Ah... So thats way High Noon spiked
I fail to understand why u hate using the abbey so much xd
there HAS to be a way to run Shark Typhoon in this
Lesson learned for round one never not study a deck you haven’t played before playing
As someone who doesn't play pioneer this format looks very slow and tedious to play
Nah, we’re out here dying on turn 3 in some matchups. Format swings both ways.
cool list, but this format seems so dry and just not fun
I tried so hard to love Pioneer but, unfortunately, anytime something is good they ban it. The format somehow becomes worse standard at every opportunity.
Try harder cuz this deck is cool as shit

@@deli_9697 correct. So was turn 3 sorin.
@@carsonbos472 I actually never got too many games where I got sorined, but yeah that's like completely unwinnable at that point lol
Doesn’t play around spell pierce with high spell pierced then plays around it they don’t have it and they triple Phoenix you that’s too funny
