      Our world need practice more Compassion,real Love and Kind then we could reduce this case.
      Be love and care each other because from begining we all care by mom,without mom we can't survived.we humans are social animal,we must live together.we must practice love fist stage.
      Compassion is source of happiness.If some one give us money we happy right.for that reason we must compassion towards other.we all need happiness not suffer.
      Car can't give us compassion.we need produse our self.

      @Tourniquet Now Not really, but that's the case with grooming in general and attitudes towards those in that kinda of situation (who are typically very vulnerable).
      I honestly dislike you have phrased this to make it exploitative of hateful emotion, rather than looking into the deeper societal causes and attitudes toward this. It's important to talk and identify these problems, although in smaller communities it can feel like an attack and be used as one. So it's important not to generalise but make these issues visible in way that some of the earlier causes can be dealt with; like what were the individuals living conditions, could we have done more to help them or others realise what was going on, did they not have access or help from peers who could of otherwise prevented this, the attitudes in said community and how it affects those with in it (so if there were those who might have tried to bring it up but were dismissed or peer pressured into not spilling the beans).
      It's fine to feel angry, but you should consider what you should be angry at. I'm really not telling you to shut up, but if you are trying to be helpful to those who have been sexually abused and prevent further abuse...it just looks like you're fuelling a jingoistic agenda, rather than education on these matters.

      I don’t believe she had reasons to kill herself, I don’t believe there’s anything justifiable for any 14 year old to take their own life. She had a mental illness, depression. Unfortunately it was left untreated or was not treated successfully. Because of the ongoing depression the information she attained from Instagram “helped” worsen her outlook by making suicide a more appealing option than living. You’re right, and I’m certain that suicide is excruciatingly difficult for a parent. Often time, to help themselves come to terms with their child death, parents often seek out a focus that they feel contributed to their child’s passing and will engulf themselves into finding ways to prevent it from happening again. It’s a way to help the grieving process by way of being able to still focus on the child that is gone and by making oneself feel like what happened isn’t in vain.

    • @scrumps101
      @scrumps101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nubian Queen Oh come on. Of course it was her choice but it decision made by a child of 14 with depression. She had no idea what her life’s outlook could have been. Being that the human brain doesn’t fully develop until age 25 she was a child making a life decision with not enough knowledge or intelligence and mental illness to ice the cake. Her parents may have provided the gadgets but Instagram provided the imagery and encouragement. There’s probably no doubt that what she saw on Instagram made suicide seem like a more acceptable option. The more we see of something the less shocked and more desensitized we become. To a 14 year old brain this could have quite an impact. You people are so quick to judge the parents for wanting to place blame and for providing her internet access that you miss the whole point. If a child is abducted we don’t go after the parent for taking their child to the store. We go after the predator - to help keep the world safe. We should be able to let our kids play and run around and browse Instagram, with the proper the restraints on all ends. These parents are simply trying to gain closure and prevent other families from this kind of tragedy.

      I am from India. I am 33 year old. I belong to the parent who have been living separately since last 30 years since my childhood. They never divorced to each other. After getting married in Indian society, married person has to choose between two of his parents and his wife-children. Because of the joint family system. My dad always gave one sided priorities to his mother. And my grand mother was disaster of our life. She ruind our life. My dad is the most negative person of my life. I consider him as a terrible dream of my life. I have lived in depression throughout my life just because of my father and grandmother. Mom is not worst like him but she has never been supportive. I am still fighting with depression. Good Parenting is a biggest issue in Indian society. I think people don't know how to be a good parent. Most of the People don't have parenting skill.💔💔

He gave me the news tonight and I said well you can only do your best. There is nothing to be gained by shouting and punishing him. He's a good kid and plays golf for the county. The true question is. Why was she depressed? Was this rectified by the parents? Did she console anyone? If not, Why not? Was she bullied? Did the parents know she was depressed? If not, why not? If yes what action did they take? Does any of her friends know about her situation? Was she in a relationship at any point before this event?
    All types of social media can exacerbate such situations but the source of the problem needs to be found. It shouldn’t just be blamed on a social media app. Why wasn’t the parents aware of her situation?
    Don’t get me wrong. I hate all social media platforms. But you can’t really blame an app. The parents could have prevented it if they were more involved with her life.

      lit lit - Teenage means nothing. People in their 20-30’s commit suicide. It’s all about communication. A person who commits suicide is not communicating their problems to the people around them. If the people around (especially loved ones) are not creating the environment to listen and understand. Then this is the unfortunate result. Communication is the key, age and social media apps are mainly irrelevant.

      One thing I have learned from being a medical student, which I previously didn't believe possible, is that a lot of adolescents commit or attempt suicide out of the blue without a known history of depression. It has to do with adolescence being an impulsive age in some, and maybe this girl was encouraged to take her life by instagram. It doesn't seem to me that her parents were the problem or at least the only problem, as in her notes, she tells them she took her life because of "me" and tells them she loves them and doesn't mention that they caused her to be depressed. Obviously we don't know the full story, but it's not impossible that parents weren't aware that their daughter was struggling and were doing the best they could

    • @ZPSBestProfileName
      @ZPSBestProfileName 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I mean technically, that is what you do when you let your kid go to town with their friends. Adults may talk to them. The issue is that then the adults are indirectly supervised because other adults are watching them. It is now too hard to police kids the old fashioned way, entirely. You need some sort of biometric measure but then there are issues of privacy. The best one can do is an approximation, which is to police their device usage as best you can, without being too invasive. It's a hard thing to do.

I self harmed myself and I did it because I was sad and lonely, when I watched the posts on Instagram before self harming, I didn't have the urge to do it because I didn't have problems with myself. You can't blame just one thing, suicide is done because of a combination of things. You don't do it just because many people inspired you to do it, because it's very difficult to do. I had multiple attempts, I tried like 10 times and still couldn't kill myself. It's something that needs a big reason, not just some images and people on internet.

      If there is a regulation on negative content on social media, then how do we define what is "negative" or what exactly the content can promote suicide? As we are setting up the standard, we soon will set up standards of other negative/or potentially harmful content. That way how do we define speech freedom? As we erase the negative voice from our view, will those people stop suffering?

    • @ardenritchie5722
      @ardenritchie5722 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The children in our society are being harmed by our own behavior not the actual tool. Being a good example and teaching your child to wash your hands, brush / floss your teeth and get your homework done has to now be changed to stay away from the toxic world we created because we do not want you to freak out. This is an illogical, tragic game being played on the world right now. We can change our behavior when we have a child. I did. I now ensure they know more about the pictures they see instead of leaving them alone to process 1000s of pics both good and very horrible in their minds. Parenting has to be better to not go over the line to panic and paranoia. Children should be allowed to have fun and ask many questions about it. If they are not and are silent something is up. You have to get children to ask the questions that really need to replied to by adults. The same goes for bullying online and the victim culture that some kids grow up in. They have to know that suicide is NEVER an option. I reference the case of Amy in Canada. It is another case of leaving a teen alone to be babysat by technology and tech entertainment made for adults. Do not do this parents. Interact with your children even the ones that are sullen and morose. They will appreciate you trying to help.

      Social media is addictive just like alcohol and drugs. Not everybody who uses alcohol and drugs dies but alcohol and drugs play a role. Underlying issues often lead to addictive things that make the problems the person is facing significantly worse. It wouldn't be wrong to say the addictive things tip the balance in a lot of cases.

      I think this is quite an inappropriate response, many people, vulnerable people like children or teens mostly, are addicted to social media as if it were a drug(there's a lot of studies that prove this, it's called "instant gratification"). It's very hard for these people to quit and if they fall on these darker parts of the media, it can go wrong so quickly.
      Please consider your responses before making such a statement.

    It's not OK to say Instagram was the murderer. It's the same as saying the rob-dealer is the murderer of a child who hang his/her self up. Instagram is just a company. What the people do with the function is by themselves. Instagram is the platform. The users had to make sure this stuff will not happen. Instagram can help with blocking stuff but don't blame Instagram!
    So in short. It's not OK to say Instagram helped, the users helped with the suicide of this child. Instagram didn't!

    I looked at Beyonce pictures when she had a concert. Then following that i kept seeing pictures on my search page, and I'd be curious and click on the recommended. Long story short, now I'm in a sort of loop where i don't wanna see nor do not actively seek out Beyonce, but its there. And I do eventually click. Curiosity. I can go for 2 weeks without clicking on any of her pictures and they still appear.
    Now imagine dealing with dark posts. It would be torturesom. I do think Insta has a role in that they may need to try counter morbid algerithyms. Step in a bit.

I taught in a school that made the students check in mobiles at the gate and the teacher had one for emergency purposes. All schools should start doing this now. A mobile has no business being on a child of 17 let alone the 12 year olds I have seen. Start here. And, this will stop so much emphasis on it. You have one computer room that is monitored. The kids after school have to be checked by parents. That is life.

    The last time I seriously relapsed with my eating disorder (which has nearly killed me, on more than one occasion), Instagram was a seemingly unending source of content that made it worse. I searched hashtags I knew had been proana code words since my teens, back when the biggest eating disorder communities were on Live Journal. This is nothing new, but it is infinitely more accessible & easy to find, these days. Back in my teens, it was very difficult to stumble upon this stuff accidentally. But now, it's just ubiquitous.

      I do agree that such dangerous content should not be out there freely accessible on the internet. However social media isn't the cause of suicide/depression. If your upset or depressed, then your automatically drawn to posts that correlate to your feelings, same way if your happy, your more likely to search up posts that correlate to those feelings. Depressive posts don’t just randomly pop up on your explore page unless you specifically search for them. So you can’t really blame an app here, and instagram does have a warning before viewing some specific vids or posts so I don’t know what more you want them to do really 🙂 If your on social media YOUR ON YOUR OWN. And it’s your ultimate choice to either turn off your WiFi and phone so that you don’t see those posts, or you simply face those posts.

    My condolences to her father. A loss of a child is a terrible thing. There is a lot of blame going around here. But this is a complex issue that we don't know all the details. But if I were to weigh in, there is a lot of this crap on social media, a friend of mine was once fascinated by it. she was around the same age. she's fine, and now a grown adult. I remember telling her to pay no attention to this stuff or that it was fake or photoshopped. But honestly we are looking at a greater problem with social media, that these posts exist at all. Whether they are real or not, I think they exist because people are desperate for attention, whether it is a cry for help, to get a reaction, to get sympathy, to get encouragement, or to simply have people hit the like or dislike button. It is a problem with our society if kids feel that their worth is connected to the number of likes or comments on their social media account, and social media is nothing if not a cesspool of hateful, spiteful people, all with the same attention addiction and nothing good to say. Social media does need to do more, even if it is just to post ads for helplines, or to change their algorithms to show less of this material even if it is "relevent" to what someone once clicked on. For the rest of us, give the people you care about more hugs and show them love, compassion, and affection, something social media just can't do.
