As just one example of my first comment: Tschaikovsky was in deep mourning, after the death of his most beloved family member, when he wrote The Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy--which hardly sounds funereal or like music of mourning. Or Russian, or "male". Composers shape and convey what they need to, which more often than not has little to do with place, time, or person. And much more to do with sonic art.

An absolutely brilliant sonic landscape for a large orchestra. It gradually evolves like the revealing of a fantastic mountain peak. This Icelandic composer has my most heart felt approbation. Well done, and Thanks to her, the performers, and to collectablesblog for making it's discovery possible!

Um belo trabalho sinfônico da compositora islandesa. Faltaram aqui as referências ao Regente e à Orquestra. Grato pela postagem.

Bella música, envolvente. Es un paréntesis entre tanto ruido y fff. ¡Brava Anna!

re Berridge comments on this, and other of AT's works--Few composers write to express their country, their own current personal emotional states, or their sex. They create in sound, shape music, because they are driven to do so. It would be interesting to hear what AT has to say of this, and about Streaming Arhythmia--if anything at all. Music does what words cannot. Listeners co-create, imposing much in their reception of the work. But please try to just listen! Don't impose non-musical concepts! Forget the composer is Icelandic--do you still hear mountains? Why not glints of sun on desert sand? Or a trip along the caverns of the Styx? Why must one always comment that she's a woman, and young? Just hear the music!

Xris nothing he said here begins to justify this sermon.

I'm a visual artist, not a musician, but I firmly belive what I'll say here applies just as well to music and musicians (and to any other creative endavour). What I am is the sum of experiences brought by my age, my gender, my environment (including my family, my neighborhood and my country), my phobias and my beliefs, so when I express myself, I express all these things. I might accept or even affirm them, I might rebel against them, but they are always a frame of reference for everything I do.
You might start creative process because you are driven to, but at the very moment you sit in front of a canvas or a piano, creative choices start. And these depend on who you are at the given moment in time (it wouldn't make much sense - or be much fun - otherwise).
