  • This video shows the Heineken keg internal structure.
    I found the carbon dioxide canister in the Keg.
    When the beer goes out from the Keg, inner pressure is getting low, the piston will extend. Consequently, the piston presses carbon dioxide canister nozzle and keeping Keg inner pressure.

    These are great to stand on top of a bonfire after you empty them! They must be standing upright, you will hear it start too make a pinging noise then it will launch 40 or so feet into the air.

    • @RoddyRoams
      @RoddyRoams 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ... So if your bonfire keg is not standing upright there's a risk of a hot metal missile being fired at onlookers. Either way there's also likely to be a shower of sparks, given that momentum sufficient to fire the keg up is also going to get blown into the bonfire.

    I just received a Heineken Keg (Draughtkeg) today. Now I know what is inside (besides beer). You satisfied my curiosity. I also noticed a really cool (pun intended) feature: when you leave the keg in the refrigerator, the thermometer on the keg will turn blue. I am guessing it is thermo-reactive paint.

      activated carbon is typically used to purify water/air etc. Looks like it may be used to filter the CO2 before it is discharged to the beer, even though it is likely 'food grade' to begin with.

    Nice video!! I´ve just bought one, and something's sounding weird inside, when transporting, clearly it's the carbon dioxide canister that's not fixed at the bottom! I have to exchange at the dealer, maybe it was dropped on the floor at the market's transport.

    I wonder what the activated carbon is for. I wasn't expecting it. It seems a bit weird as an additive to what should be a relatively non-toxic brew. btw. you wasted a mouthful of lager.

    • @borincod
      @borincod 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Activated carbon is great gases keeper, so possibly it is used to hold CO2 in THIN walled canister. Almost the same technology is developing for holding H2 for future hydrogen engines.

    What does carbon dioxide canister do?

    • @Napoleon_Blownapart
      @Napoleon_Blownapart 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it keeps the beer from going stale once its in use. this kegs has an expiration of 30 days after opening.
      if it was not for the induced co2, the beer would loose its own co2 to the compressed air inside, so, the canister keeps the atmosphere inside of pure, pressurized, co2

Some good ones are Stella Artois, Duvel, Rocheford and if you EVER have the chance to try a Westvleteren, do it! It has been chosen to be the best beer in the world for a couple years in a row. But it is even hard to get in Belgium so i doubt it
