Why was she upset at her daughter for wanting to keep her friend's embarrassing pictures private?? Do they want other kids to make fun of her and her friends? Then, they asked her if she's done anything inappropriate, like she hasn't already clarified that she hasn't. She even saw her private images app. Not to mention, ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED TO SEE HER INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS.

Meanwhile adults are hooking up with random strangers, cheating on the people they swore they always would love, texting strangers, so much more. But sure, let’s just disconnect kids from their friends and isolate them😃
agreed. I hate the fact the parents agreed to this other then just checking the phone. It wasn’t necessary to put it on the news too, even so parents should be more considerate when it comes to privacy.
Usually these random restrictions parents make concerning phones and their kids usually like blow over in like a week u j gotta give it time they’ll be like “family meeting time”. The stuff coming out of those convos never lasts
Here is the thing. Teens really deserve some privacy. My mom doesn’t go through my texts and stuff like that, but she has some things that help keep me safe. My mom has this thing installed on me and all my sibling’s devices called bark. It lets us have privacy, but alerts my mom if we get or send any inappropriate text messages or view anything she doesn’t allow. It helps us have our privacy, and let’s my mom be a little more comfortable letting us do more on our devices as long as she knows we are mature enough
Same! I’m 17 and my parents don’t look at my phone anymore, but I still get nervous when they have to borrow it. I have nothing to hide, I only look at nerf guns, trucks, random facts, and things for school.
Its not like kids are hiding stuff on their phones, it just feels like an invasion of privacy to go through it. It’s like going through someone’s diary, it wrong.
My mom saw this video, and it completely shattered our relationship. She's so paranoid, she made me get rid of all of my games even. Now she insists on trying to read all of my messages. I don't do anything bad, just some conversations with my friends I'd rather have stay private. Instead of "keeping teens safe", it broke all trust and happiness between my parents and I. Thanks for driving us farther apart. I hope you're happy.
That sucks. My parents tell me that hey monitor it. Just tell your mom she can go through whatever she’d like, because there is nothing she doesn’t see.
Lol its not their fault ur mother is paranoid? They didnt tell her to be paranoid, they told them to be open and honest with their children and keep an open conversation with their children. Not put them on lockdown.
Same I spent 7 years hiding apps, deleting conversations I'd rather have kept, getting rid of pictures that were important to me, not even touching my phone in front of my parents all because I couldn't have them figure out what I was doing. I'm 19 and to this day respond the same way every time someone asks to see my phone. I flinch and question why. Some teens have secrets that aren't necessarily just sending inappropriate pictures or texts, they're deeply personal conversations about mental health, friendships, etc.
Michaela Anne Exactly and BUT THE EXPERTS say otherwise and there is inappropriate things on your phone. And also all this does is create trust issues ruining parents relationships with their kids.
Elizabeth Kristalyn ya when I first got a phone they checked EVERYTHING on it and wanted to hook it up to a daily report thing that told everything I did on it including how many pictures I took a day. I wasn't even aloud to chat with family before asking them. I took my phone everywhere and completely hid everything. I deleted all my history of anything non-educational. I didn't even talk about the phone with them. It was really embarrassing personally because they would do a phone check in the middle of a public place. And when I ask if they trust me they say "Of course we do, we just want to protect you".
Everyone that just agreed w this comment you all have to be kids , going through a parents phone won’t mean shit there adults and can they what they want unless there doing inappropriate shit w a kid , these kids are underage and aren’t supposed to be doing anything inappropriate in the first place
Brush I feel like I would cry if I had a bunch of cameras pointed in my face while my parents are being told that they're not doing a good job and also my parents don't trust me
Bruh my parents don’t let me have any social media I am 12 and also they see everything on my phone and check every night so bruh what they did is nothing.
@@michaelrust1068 sameeee. I’m 13 and I can’t even have Snapchat smh. My mom just went through my phone and got mad at me for having a video of ME SINGING. She said “we don’t feel u have been very honest with us here lately” so she decided while I was sleeping to go ahead and take my phone and go through EVERYTHING. She of course always finds something to get mad about hence the video of me singing. I feel like I’m gonna throw up because she told me she might load up all my data from my phone and go through it. Honestly I’d rather not have a phone then have the anxiety of this happening every day 💀
I feel bad for people who have their parents looking through their phone all the time. My parents have not once gone through my phone, since they have no reason to believe I'm doing anything bad. How about instead of looking through peoples phones you educate you children. The only time I can see it being appropriate to look through someone's phone, is if you know that they've been doing some bad stuff and you need to keep tabs on it, if you have no reason to believe that, there's no reason to look through their phone. And if you don't trust your children why did you get them a smart phone in the first place? You should make sure your children are smart enough to have a smartphone before buying them one...
Gabriella McNally oh no, I'm so sorry that happened to you! You should have been able to tell them yourself, not have them find out through your phone.
I think that if you pay for the device and the service, you can have your privacy and have jurisdiction over it. If you parents are paying for everything, they can do whatever they want on it, whether you like it or not. I am the first one. I will be getting an iPhone X, and will make sure not to let them know the password.
Urboiplayz 97 but I recieved my phone as a birthday present and I pay my bill out of my allowance, and no, u don't get my allowance from my mom, I get it from social services because my dad died and I get like 500 dollars a month
Kids hide things in their heads. Is that not gonna be allowed soon. Violate a kids privacy and they’ll just hide more and trust you less. Like if you say ‘I’m gonna go through your phone’ for the first time. They’ll just hide everything. And if you have always gone through their phone they will already be brilliant at hiding things.
Exactly whenever I go on anything that i think my parents would have a hissy-fit about I just delete the history or hide the app into a middle of a folder. Learnt it after my parents got triggered at me for taking my phone to the loo just cause I wanted to not go AFK on my game and they think I wanking to pornhub or something so all they check is my game which nothing weird is there and all it did was teach me to be overprotective of your shit
{XXX_Voltaik Eradicator 29_XXX} omg same I once went to the bathroom with my phone cuz I was just reading a story and then when I got out she was like “why did you take your phone to the bathroom with you” and from that day I never take my phone to the bathroom cuz then my parents will have to check my phone (which is okay cuz I don’t hide anything, it’s just that I don’t like anyone going through my phone)
I have trust issues and I hate being judged my mom going through my camera roll has already made my anxiety go up bc she did it when I was taking a shower ;-; and it hurt when you parents get mad at you from something you did
Instead of all this “struggle” to find out what their kids are doing, how about they actually involve them self with their kids and earn trust so you don’t have to invade their privacy. Like to see the kids go through their parents phones. If you want your kids to be safe and mature online then bring them up that way. Don’t act as if you’re attached to their hip, butting into everything they’re doing.
Mia B I'm so honest with my parents that they consider me to be rude and believe I wouldn't have anything they wouldn't want on my phone. I don't think I'll care too much if they looked through my phone since I don't really having they would be that angry about though that Wattpad account i have is something I would rather die with than ever reveal to them.
Mia B that is true and what I’m trying to say is my parents trust me enough to never feel like they need to invade my privacy. And I trust them enough to not go and invade my privacy especially since they don’t even force me to tell them my password to things including the one for access to my phone. Also kids live under the home of their guardians and if they aren’t paying the bills for everything on their phone, I feel like the adult should be able to check a kids phone if they have evidence that they could be doing something on the phone that could harm them.
honestly these poor kids. these kids aren't doing anything wrong, and their parents don't understand. they have to explain themselves for something that for the most part is harmless. their parents are just losing their trust. also, i know WAY more boys that use their phones for not appropriate things. i mean, girls do too, but it's so subjectified. they are COMPLETLEY doing this the wrong way. they really don't get it.
Uh, no, they’re trying to protect their kids, not be “young” how did you turn some parents trying to see what their children are doing so that they could monitor them and protect them into parents trying to be them
congrats! you have ruined relationships, created anxiety, fear, kids being upset, embarsment, this is supposed to be private with just kids and parents. It’s not even girls. Do this with boys this age and see what you find.
The first girl (sorry I don’t know her name) she had a very fair reason. She doesn’t want people to see embarrassing photos of her friends. Like there’s nothing bad on there
KarkyDoesGaming I know, I hate this. It's kinda creepy to me. My parents say I can't go into their phone but they can go in mine? I think the fuck not.
abbie kids diserve privacy because looking at their phone constantly is pretty much like stalking someone 24/7 irl. it's just weird and creepy. what ever is going on with the kid (unless it's serious) is none of their business.
abbie So, it is okay to let your daughter/son do something on the internet that is bad? If they tell that they are gonna go on their phones, they would probably hide all the bad things.
GrumpyDiamond 101 then if the parents have that big of trust issues then they can block certain things through the wifi, or talk to your kids at a young age about internet safety, all im saying is that they shouldnt have broadcasted invading the kids privacy and kind of humiliating them with strangers nationally
@@reversemitosis4213 what’s so funny about that is literally I had my first phone at 10 and my mom went through it everyday up until I was 14 and she saw stuff she didn’t like. I’m not sure why, but instead of continuing to look through my phone everyday she just stopped and now I’m 17 and if she looked through my phone omg I would be MORTIFIED
@@lauram7070 I wouldn’t mind, I don’t search anything incriminating in the eyes of a parent of a minor. They’d just find some random $hitposts I steal from discord.
I'm just annoyed because the girls aren't doing anything bad at all on these apps and these parents are all like "were not good parents. I don't think we can trust you ever again!" And i'm like "they aren't doing anything wrong on these apps" and most of the kids were even telling the parents the stuff some people say like what?
And tbh the stuff on their phones are not that bad, they aren’t doing anything wrong, I mean just check the stories I read on watt pad, my mom would whoop my ass to fucking North Korea
this is way too extra. sure, they have secret apps, but they know what they are doing! they use it for embarassing photos of their friends, there is no harm in a finsta and they block weird people that dm them, which mean they aren't doing anything inappropriate.honestly, they take it way out of context. ugh
Iris yea. I was even glad one of the girls said that she blocked whoever that guy was that send her those inappropriate messags. That really shows that her parents really know how to raise her right. I just wish most teens would understand that. If one gets very scared or uncomfortable when a unknown person sends uncomfortable messages, always block.
Wow these parents though, “why do you have that calculator” “are you storing rude things” dude, just look! It’s not that hard and I don’t understand why they put their families at risk by losing trust just because a girl had a secret app so she could store funny photos of her friends without them knowing. It could be worse, she could be storing inappropriate photos but she’s not, chill. Look on the bright side of th8ngs.
Don't be naive they have different passwords for different "vaults" even within the same app, so if she has half a brain cell she will have a password for harmless photos that you use in case someone finds it. Then the vaults for the actual reason to have hidden photos
Those kids arent doing wrong and shouldnt be made to feel guilty. Theyre allowed to have privacy! When i was 12, my phone and online experience was exactly the same.

They just ruined those girls lives now their parents are going to be constantly checking their phones
Main thing is that ABC has a story for "Good Morning America" smh
Usually these random restrictions parents make concerning phones and their kids usually like blow over in like a week u j gotta give it time they’ll be like “family meeting time”. The stuff coming out of those convos never lasts
Yesss
My parents still always check my phone but just texts. I have no social media and especially not any of this secret stuff.
Right...... This is why I love having free range parents
It helps us have our privacy, and let’s my mom be a little more comfortable letting us do more on our devices as long as she knows we are mature enough
okay i PERSONALLY wouldn’t want a random man going through my phone. thats just me tho.
Like he knows her password now

My mom saw this video, and it completely shattered our relationship. She's so paranoid, she made me get rid of all of my games even. Now she insists on trying to read all of my messages. I don't do anything bad, just some conversations with my friends I'd rather have stay private. Instead of "keeping teens safe", it broke all trust and happiness between my parents and I. Thanks for driving us farther apart. I hope you're happy.
Meredith Harr ikr they’re destroying families, how pathetic 😒
Best of luck with your relationship with your mother.
Leslie Castiel Thank you
I love how random reporters are asking pre-teens to have their phones and going through it
I think in part 1 the reporters asked if they could review the kids (im not sure correct if im wrong)
All this does is creat trust issues, stress, and anxiety. It's just cruel.
Yeah i have anxiety about this and it scares me because i feel i cant even leave my phone around my parents without them snooping through it
Same I spent 7 years hiding apps, deleting conversations I'd rather have kept, getting rid of pictures that were important to me, not even touching my phone in front of my parents all because I couldn't have them figure out what I was doing.
I get what u mean but they literally signed up for it
Can’t be that cruel
Elizabeth Kristalyn ya when I first got a phone they checked EVERYTHING on it and wanted to hook it up to a daily report thing that told everything I did on it including how many pictures I took a day. I wasn't even aloud to chat with family before asking them. I took my phone everywhere and completely hid everything. I deleted all my history of anything non-educational. I didn't even talk about the phone with them. It was really embarrassing personally because they would do a phone check in the middle of a public place. And when I ask if they trust me they say "Of course we do, we just want to protect you".
Now let's go through the parents phones

True I agree ☝️☺️😅
I think that if you pay for the device and the service, you can have your privacy and have jurisdiction over it. If you parents are paying for everything, they can do whatever they want on it, whether you like it or not. I am the first one. I will be getting an iPhone X, and will make sure not to let them know the password.

Learnt it after my parents got triggered at me for taking my phone to the loo just cause I wanted to not go AFK on my game and they think I wanking to pornhub or something so all they check is my game which nothing weird is there and all it did was teach me to be overprotective of your shit

TARDIS Whovian the point is privacy and trust. Adults don’t go through other adults phones.
Mia B preach
Mia B PREACH!

I'm just annoyed because the girls aren't doing anything bad at all on these apps and these parents are all like "were not good parents. I don't think we can trust you ever again!" And i'm like "they aren't doing anything wrong on these apps" and most of the kids were even telling the parents the stuff some people say like what?

this is way too extra. sure, they have secret apps, but they know what they are doing! they use it for embarassing photos of their friends, there is no harm in a finsta and they block weird people that dm them, which mean they aren't doing anything inappropriate.honestly, they take it way out of context. ugh

Iris yea. I was even glad one of the girls said that she blocked whoever that guy was that send her those inappropriate messags. That really shows that her parents really know how to raise her right. I just wish most teens would understand that. If one gets very scared or uncomfortable when a unknown person sends uncomfortable messages, always block.
Exactly! I was thinking that the whole time
Wow these parents though, “why do you have that calculator” “are you storing rude things” dude, just look! It’s not that hard and I don’t understand why they put their families at risk by losing trust just because a girl had a secret app so she could store funny photos of her friends without them knowing. It could be worse, she could be storing inappropriate photos but she’s not, chill. Look on the bright side of th8ngs.
The parents are keeping her safe, that's all.
But the question is, do kids have privacy?
Fe4R_ToMmY probably not
Don't be naive they have different passwords for different "vaults" even within the same app, so if she has half a brain cell she will have a password for harmless photos that you use in case someone finds it. Then the vaults for the actual reason to have hidden photos

I think parents need to be able to trust their children.
