How does it compare in width to Shimano Sphyre? How is the width? Does it crunch your big toe and little toe? How far can you get the cleat behind your first metatarsal? How long is your longest foot in cm?
Lake's shoe naming can be pretty confusing. I think the main difference between the CX 242 and CX 333 (aside from the split upper) is that the CX 333 has their "race" last design. Per Lake the CX/TX Race is - "Featuring a slightly narrower toe box & tighter heel than the Competition last and less overall volume than the Sport last. Designed for very high-cadence riding, higher pressure, and a slimmer fit."
I am looking at this same shoe but I have to order them.Did you use the Lake sizing guide and it says to go with a 44.5.A Lake rep told me to size up a half to a 45 and I need a wide. What did you do please???
That's interesting, I ended up with a EUR 44 Wide which is the same size as the Shimano S-PHYRE and Bont Cycling shoes I wear and found it to be comfortable. I'd recommend trying out any Lake shoe in person if you can find a local retailer or buy it from an online retailer that offers free returns if the sizing is off.
@@TheSweetCyclists There are no Lake retailors in Wisconsin where I live.I originally was going to switch to Sidi Mega.I ordered a pair only to find out that they are not actually wide.I had to pay shipping costs and restocking fees to return them. That is when I found out that on Amazon there are few if any free returns for cycling shoes..I actually took the last out on a pair of Shimano 44 wide and Sidi mega 44 and my feet hang over the sides.Do you know of any retailors that have free returns?
That's a good question. The one in this review is the reflective microfiber version. I haven't ridden with the leather versions, but I imagine the performance and fit of the shoes would be identical.

I’m getting the chance to get either this one or the CX 333

So is the Bont wider than the Lake in every aspect?
That's hard to say definitively, but I would say the Lake CX 242 has a much more flexible upper so it feels wider and has much more stretch.
leather vs microfiber?

The leather is going to give more!
