Serbia did not participate in any expulsion of Albanians in the 19th and first half of the 20th century. On the contrary, they settled in Kosovo during the Ottoman reign and, afterward, in the Kingdom of Serbia and Yugoslavia. Another significant criticism of your brief history is mentioning Bosniaks in Middle Ages. Except for the Muslim population who called themselves Bosniaks starting from the 1990s, there was no Bosniak nation in Middle Ages. Although Bosnia was an independent state in the latter Middle Ages, it was inhabited mainly by the Serbs. Montenegro is/was also considered one of the Serbian states. The Independent State of Croatia did not commit the war crimes. It committed the gruesome genocide of the Serbs, Jews, and Roma in Croatia, Bosnia, and parts of Serbia (Srem). Even German Nazis were stunned by the ferocity by which Ustase killed civilians and children. Although Chetniks committed some war crimes against other ethical groups and Serbs (partisans) who opposed them, their crimes cannot be compared to the Ustase genocide by no means. Hundreds of thousands have perished in this puppet nazi state. Another mistake is that Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia were not minorities but constitutive people in those Yugoslavian republics. Serbs from Croatia and Bosnia were expelled from these countries during NATO and Western backed-up military operations. That was the most significant ethnic cleansing in post-Second world war Europe.
I'm from Serbia, actually there was kind of expulsion but not actually. The thing is our king wanted to increase % of orthodox Serbs in Kosovo. At that time Ottoman Empire and Greece organized move of population, Greeks were going from Ottoman Empire back to Greece, and vice versa. So our king used the opportunity since Ottomans had bunch of free houses and space, to organize move of people as well. For islamic people who idenitified as Ottomans or Turks or whatever, to move back to mainland Ottoman Empire.. I think the same happened with Albania but not totally sure

It's nice how the genocide of Austria and the Ustasha Croats is trivialized. During the First World War, around 1,000,000 civilians were executed by the Austrian army; unborn babys were cut out of their mothers and hung next to them on trees and lanterns or burned. Around 1,500,000 soldiers died, 2,00,000 of them during the retreat to the island of KRF, the rest in the battlefields. During the Nazi occupation, the Croats executed 1,500,000 Serbs in Jasenovaz, as well as around 1,00,000 Serbian children and 5,00,000 other non-Croatian minorities. Tito's occupation wasn't any better among his partisans. There were around 50,000-100,000 Ustaše soldiers who exchanged their Nazi uniform for the partisan uniform, many of tham continued to murder in silence after the war (goli otok) is also nicely hushed up . What do you think? There are fewer and fewer Serbs living in Kosovo, they were resettled or executed by Tito, Tito's communist regime divided Serbia into provinces such as Macedonia, Kosovo and Voivodina and relocated the Serbian industry to Croatia and Slovenia. Also the genocide and the expulsion of the Serbs under NATO cover and much more, all at the expense kosts of Serbia. Serbs dount forget thar past iven all the lais

My great-grandparents on my mothers side were Yugoslavian immigrants tot the USA. Have always felt a connection to the music and culture of the balkans. Sending love to Serbia, so resilient!
A few things you've intentionally or unintentionally presented wrong: 1. there were no Bosniaks Slavs... it was made up part of the history of the modern "Bosnjaks" nation who are actually Serbs and Croats converted to Islam after Ottomans took the area 2. Albanians didn't ever live in central Serbia in large numbers so they could not be expelled from there after 1878. when Serbia became an independent state in the modern era. 3. In Bosnia today you have more than 65% of all land as private property of Serbs... so claiming that Serbia at the beginning of the 20th century (before genocide taken on Serbs in WWII by Croats and Muslims, when there were more Serbs) had some "Great Serbia pretensions" on the area (which was then btw occupied by Austria-Hungary monarchy, without having any Austrians od Hungarians there) is just malicious and stupid... 4. The vast majority of 1 700 000 people killed in Yugoslavia in WWII were Serbs, and from that number almost million of Serbs were killed by Ustase (Croats and Muslims in NDH - Naci puppet state) 5. Slovenia's departure from SFRJ was everything but peaceful 6. Albanians in 1998. did the same as Hamas now in Israel, they killed civilians and official police forces just because they were Serbs, but Serbs were banned from defending themself... instead of support like for Israel now they've got bombing from you Western hypocrites ... you should do the work more thoroughly...
I think he just told that so people can easily understand of which countries is he talking about. Who is interested he can google it for more informations.
A lot of people seem to like Serbia which i like, i live on Kosovo which i say is still a part of Serbia because of history but it became independant sadly and its all politics not too long ago a couple serbians got killed which is a tragedy and as it seems almost everyone is gonna leave Kosovo, thank you for making the video and much love from Serbia

we learned in school that slavs that migrated on balkans were just serbs and bosnians. I dont know where croatia came from but croats are I think serbs with diffrent accent and some diffrent words. it got messed up by ottomans and austria hungary
Have you ever wondered where these texts come from? What historic source from the 7th century supports that theory? It's usually just "that's what they taught us in school in Serbia", without considering that there is a huge nationalist agenda behind. I'm not making any claims here, just saying that people in the Balkans just love to spit out crap about things we don't actually know much about and for which we have very little proof. And no, some treaty in the 18th century is not a source about something a millennium earlier.
Bosniaks did not exist as such. There were other slavic tribes but none were Bosniaks. That is a modern term. We have virtually no sources mentioning them. In Bosnia, there were mostly Serbs. In the Adriatic coast, where you could see the territories of Paganija, Travunja, Dioclea and Zahumlje, which were populated by Serbs. It is only after the Ottoman conquest and the subsequent mass migration of Turks in the later century (as well as the serbian migrations in the 19th century) that we can see the Bosniaks appear. They are a basically Serbs converted to Islam, or families mixed between Turks and Serbs. The medieval kingdom of Bosnia, led by the Kotromanic dynasty, and the Kulinic before them, were all Serbs. All of the chronicles patroned by Tvtrko II Kotromanic and his son later on specify that they are Serbs. There is a big misconception that because the kingdom is called ''of Bosnia'', that they must be ''Bosniaks''. That is untrue, because they use the toponym of the area to call themselves as such and their kingdom.
To the owner of the channel. No offense. Video is great and all, just wanted to add smthn. The history before Nemanjić dinasty isn't well known, so we can't say for sure that the Slavic nation came in the 7th century on the Balkans. There are also other opinions and proofs of something different being the case, but it is neglected and not studied as if being non existant.
Now you know something is good when it is hard just as it is hard to be Serbian but with all good and bad it's beautiful being part of ancient and revolutionary people.❤all good people from Serbia
The Chetniks are complicated. You oversimplified it too much. They are not right-wing, they are royalists. Cetnik = Ceta = Battalion. They are the leftovers of the Royal Yugoslav Army that fell apart after the German invasion. They all had their own cell leaders, and yes some did outrageous crimes against some villages neighbors, croats mostly. But that was not the identity of the group. The ultimate leader was Draga Mihailovic, but didn't have lots of powers on every cell, who were mostly independant. In Northern Serbia, the Chetnik cells there collaborated with the German to dislodge communists cells in the mountains, because they didn't have the means to do so, nor the numbers. That led to a misconception that the Chetniks are right-wings nazi-collaboraters. That is untrue. They fought the Germans to a bitter end, and the communists too. Only when the British decided to stop backing them and sending them arms, and decided instead to back up the communists under Tito, did they start collaborating with the Germans against the communists. You have to mention that...
This omits a few facts: territory that will one day be known as Yugoslavia was originally known as ILLIRICUM MAGNUM (The Great Illiria), a province of Rome. Serbs and Croats settled there between 5th and 7th century and mixed with local Illirian tribes. Bosnia (and Herzegovina) that was conveniently mentioned here as separate entity DIDN'T EXIST at that time. It was named by river Basinas and it was originally created by either Serbian or Croatian tribes who settled in the region and turned it into one of fiefdoms ruled by a local Serbian or Croatian lord. In fact, territory of Bosnia changed hands and borders so many times, it is hard to even follow to whom it belonged at any given time. Montenegro (Black Mountains or Black Hills) was created by Serbs too, taking over local Illirian areas of Zeta, between other things. You can hear toponym "ZETA" still in use today.
Bosnia as a country didn't exist at the time of Ottoman empire. It was the region where Serbs who converted to Islam lived. So it's not true that "a lot Serbs lived in Bosnia at the time"... they WERE Serbs.
Let me correct some inaccuracies. The Chetniks were the legal leftovers of the Yugoslav Royal Army. Their goal was to re-establish the Kingdom of Yugoslavia after the war, not a Greater Serbia. Atrocities in the 1940s were committed by all sides, just like in the 1990s. The Partisans, as well. The Croatian Nazis known as Ustashe, did not kill 300,000 Serbs. The numbers are much higher and go from 700,000 to a million Serbs, Jews, and Roma, but mostly Serbs. The Partisans introduced Red Terror after the liberation. In the 1990s, like in the 1940s, all sides had done nasty things. But,, not bad. The names were pronounced correctly.

Albanians are begging to get papers and come to Greece for 30 years now, and they will keep doing this forever 🤣🤣
So basicly, Fought their own wars, then Otomans, then Balkan wars 1 nad 2 then they started WW1 killing an heir to the throne of Austria, then destroyed Hitlers pact and stood alone with Russia and France on the start of WW2, then fought their own civil war, then the kosovo war against the albanian terorists and got bombed for it couse USA had interest their own interest. @@thoughty4257it literally is great
Not bad at all. However mentioning "chetnik massacres" while not mention "partisan massacres" is pretty "weird"
Stefan Prvovencani was not the first king of Serbia.
There are couple of other things but overall this video is pretty solid.
He didn’t mention ustaše which is more wrong
@@icxcnikasrbustaše were croats
@@Peki20101 He probably meant as in cleansing and allat but the video is "super quick" history of serbia so he can't really get into details on anything. He didn't mention most of big war crimes (on all sides).

We Serbs have been on a rollercoaster for a while now, it would be cool if the world could leave us alone for the next let's say 100 or 200 years. We don't want anything, and we will defend our own. Thanks!
Same here in Kosovo

Great video as always, Mr History, I love it!
A few things you've intentionally or unintentionally presented wrong:
1. there were no Bosniaks Slavs... it was made up part of the history of the modern "Bosnjaks" nation who are actually Serbs and Croats converted to Islam after Ottomans took the area
4. The vast majority of 1 700 000 people killed in Yugoslavia in WWII were Serbs, and from that number almost million of Serbs were killed by Ustase (Croats and Muslims in NDH - Naci puppet state)
5. Slovenia's departure from SFRJ was everything but peaceful
6. Albanians in 1998. did the same as Hamas now in Israel, they killed civilians and official police forces just because they were Serbs, but Serbs were banned from defending themself... instead of support like for Israel now they've got bombing from you Western hypocrites
... you should do the work more thoroughly...
The heart of the Balkans! Seychelles is next!

we learned in school that slavs that migrated on balkans were just serbs and bosnians.
Serbian history in WW2 is completely different. Learn more about it please.
Thank you for making a video on my country 👍

To the owner of the channel. No offense. Video is great and all, just wanted to add smthn. The history before Nemanjić dinasty isn't well known, so we can't say for sure that the Slavic nation came in the 7th century on the Balkans. There are also other opinions and proofs of something different being the case, but it is neglected and not studied as if being non existant.
Complicated!
EXCITED FOR SOUTH AFRICA & SPAIN
I wonder if the Ukraine war will be over before he does Ukraine
Awesome vid!
Been waiting for this 🖤
🇷🇺❤️🇷🇸
Decent enough I shall allow it 😀 Cheers from a Serb.
Thanks ☺️
Nice pronounciation. Keep up the good work!
