I'm a mountain girl; my father was a park ranger when I was young, and I lived in Yellowstone, the Smokey Mountains, McKinley Park, Glacier Park . . . driving to the mountains feels like "coming home". Unlike many, I'm comfortable being alone - and can live happily without a TV. I feel in a strange place - not looking forward to the coming decade (hubby and I are both 71 this year) but paradoxically glad to be alive in such a time as this. I look forward to seeing how God is moving in these days.

I don't have a TV, or I should say it's put away. I too love the solitude. I love to hear and smell nature all around me.

      Time has truly changed!!
Now I live in a 1925 home.,and this house has a porch..but crime is so high ..I put a gate around us ..because of thief’s..and we lock ourselves in our property..it’s sad but the truth..
But I will adjust ..this is my child hood home ..and me tending to my garden gives me peace and happiness..
I have property in the country….but that area is becoming developed…. 😕

Sixteen years ago we bought a 2.5 acres in a semi rural area bordered by rural farm land with cotton, corn, grain fields. Horses, cattle and goats. It was heaven. Today I am surrounded by commerce and all the open fields are gone. The 2 lane road is now 4 lanes connecting to a major interstate. We are in our 80’s too old to start over. So we just endure the chaos till our end

This is happening around here too. I don't know the people that bought homes joining massive farm land because of being near the farm. Within a year or two of buying their dream home, the farm is sold and now they are in a subdivision and back to living like they did before they moved to their new home.

Great porch time Danny and Wanda, Ive been watching videos still just less commenting because Im busy but today is a rainday so Im catching up on some comments. Im so sorry about the logging, that seems to be the thing going on in our area any land that is being sold is logged first and left to look terrible they leave all the tops and take the logs. Everywhere we go its a mess and its saddening. Land is stripped and then sold for 10K plus an acre so money is being made by the bushels and it looks like trash afterwards but people got their money. Its so sad hearing those hawks they are distressed and its heartbreaking. I guess since this is the year of solutions, for future references when we get our land not only focus on fence first but also border properties with trees to avoid the uncontrolable situation of logging on border properties. Its sad but Im finding so much joy in taking situations and focusing on solutions as you told us the begining of the year! Thank you Danny and Wanda, the Father is so good He knew you all would need a place for peace and He gave it to you at just the right time!!

I grew up on 80 acres of hardwoods. Trees are sacred to me, mostly due to the time issue. I can't even stand to see a dead tree taken down. I'm planting as many trees as I can on my little 2 acres. Fruit and maple trees. Doing what I can to make my little slice of the world better.

I remember being young and our neighbour took out the whole fence line of trees where there was alot of wild berries and nut trees. He went over the property line and had those ripped out without my dads consent. When we went for a drive to check cattle shortly after, my dad was furious! Mom was so upset b/c that's where we went to pick our wild edibles. The neighbour was greedy for that extra strip of land for his hay field. Dad who was quiet and humble, always peaceful blew his stack of which I'd never witnessed before. I was young and didn't really understand why he was so angry. Now, I know why and understand and would have been just as furious.

A elder friend of mine, he was near 80 when he passed away last yr. He & his wife moved out to a 40 acre property in Oregon, that's desert. They were off grid, I'd say 100%, even though they had a few solar panel's. But they had a lot of cloud cover, so it didn't always provide the power they needed. But he had it set up to use the generator on their rigs to charge their cell phone's or on their tractor & he used it to to charge his power tool's. This man was extremely talented & wanted to live like the pioneers did. He built their cabin to absorb the heat, even in the winter month's & built a section that they lived in, in the summer that was cook despite it being 100+ of heat. The Indians knew how to live without A/C & he figured it out.
I hope we don't lose you (quit youtube) anytime soon. A lot of the thing's you do & talk about remind me of my friend & you both remind me of my talented dad (whose still here). God Bless you & Miss Wanda for all you share & for all you do to help the rest of us. 😊🥰🙏🙏

I live down a dead end road on a few acres on the edge of a town of about 400 people. I'm the third generation living in this land. I live where my Grandpa Charlie had his feed corn field for his hogs when I was little. I love my peace and quiet, but some of my neighbors just don't get it. I love getting up and having coffee and watching the sun rise, then getting on to my chores in the gardens and then coming in before the heat sets in for a snack and a nap. This life is the best life!

My parents have been in heaven with the Lord for years now. I’m grateful they didn’t have to see what I see now. I can’t even go back there. It will never be the same again. Danny we just appreciate porch Time so very much. We love all the videos you and Miss Wanda put out. You are in our thoughts and prayers as we seek to find peace and quiet in these troubling times. You just stated what I have been fighting for - some peace & quiet. I was forced to move from S. CA. to the area near Reno. But sadly the quiet is being disrupted by little cars with loud exhausts, car stereos that bounce me out of my recliner and the occasional noisy planes from an small airport two miles away.

Danny, glad for you. We too and so many of God’s people have been mightily blessed too. With government that is doing what they will, there are no guarantees our owning our own land will mean what it used to. What you say is right - through it all, we shall be blessed in every situation as we obey God. Love you Danny and Wanda. God is so amazingly GOOD.

Thank you Danny for this video. I love nature and the old trees. I have neighbors on each side of me, but the back property that abuts mine was always owned by a wonderful older gentleman, who had bough extra land decades ago, and left it natural. It was beautiful and peaceful for the 30 something years I lived here. Then he eventually passed on and his granddaughter sold it. Now they have built a house right at the back of my property where we used to spend so many peaceful evenings. Now I'm surrounded by people and screaming kids, radios, and all kinds of noise. I hate it. I hate change, and can understand how you are feeling. Lost my husband almost 2 1/2 years ago, so it's just me now, just waiting till he takes me home. God bless.

We live on a dead end road surrounded by dense woods. Been mostly quiet for the past 20 years until a piece of property behind me got sold. Now a 20 yr old guy n his wife live behind us. Seem like nice people only thing is the dude takes the muffler off every engine he owns, his diesel truck is extremely loud, comes n goes up to 6 maybe 7 times a day, the lawn mower.. no muffler. It's like he likes it loud, lol. Last week they threw a party that lasted long into the night. Loud music, and at least 15 loud vehicles just like his coming n going through the night. Thought I was gonna lose my mind. I plowed n disc a garden right next to his property line. Not growing anything, I just like to give it a fresh discing every morning before the sun comes up. Thinking bout drilling some holes in the ol tractors muffler but I just can't bring myself to do it yet. Btw I got other gardens growing plenty of food.

I know how you feel Danny. Peace and quiet is hard to find. Even living in the country on 300 acres of land you can still hear noises from miles away. Ive ha a lot of timber cut on my land, but almost all was pine. I hate when hardwoods are cut because those are the most beneficial to wildlife. Our old pines need to be cut badly because they are sold old they are starting to die unfortunately. Me as a land owner I would hate to do a disservice to the old trees by not cutting them. I'm surprised you don't have any line trees left that would still provide you with shade. They just cut hundreds of acres of pines next to us and the property line trees still provide great shade for my peas and watermelons. I hope those replanted pines grow back fast for you to give you that sense of peace and quiet. May God bless you and Wanda with serenity!

I can fully understand how you feel.
When we bought our home back in 1999, there used to be a farm field behind my house.
About 2015 they put up an industrial complex with 7 humongous warehouses.
The building that is behind my home can park 215 semi trailers and several hundred automobiles.
That particular building is as long as the block that I live on.
The only saving grace is that there is a 5 acre long strip of land that a neighbor owns directly behind my property. It acts as a buffer zone to the industrial complex.
Other houses further down the street literally have the roadway for the industrial complex in their backyards.

I Had the same thing happen to me with my place when the treeline was destroyed and i found a way to counteract it and that is planting on your land trees, bushes and flowers that will bring in the bugs and bees and butterflies and foods that the birds love and need . I Built big bird houses and feeders for everything i could think of and it worked very good. I Created a Sanctuary that the birds and small animals would live here from the early morning hours till dusk then go roost/sleep somewhere else and actually the only thing that changes was the view of the trees and the fresh air created from them. Don't give up yet , you may not be looking at everything the right way yet. Peace is where you find it true, but in this World there may not be anywhere else left to find it and you know why because of the times. Our True Peace is on it's way, He's coming to get us soon. Hang in there Brother.

That just breaks my heart Mr. Danny. My Pop bought our homeplace out in the country over 60 years ago. We were about 7 miles from town. No close neighbors, dirt road that only saw the mailman at exactly the same time every day. Now we're surrounded, have a highly traveled paved road that connects 2 main highways and are within 2 miles of the city limits. I won't do anything as long as my parents are living, but will move if I'm still able after they pass. It's hard to start over when you're our age, but the peace and quiet you mentioned is a strong driving force. God bless you and Ms. Wanda.

What that viewer expressed to you about how you brought him to God was beautiful. I will attest back when I first started to watch you and Wanda (many years ago), you were the first "homestead" I ever watched. I slowly realized there is something to this life as it had a definition to it. (Homestead is different from just living in a home in town.) I own 5 acres mainly because I was a single mom and I found out the school busses let the kids off right in front of your home out in the country...no walking through lousy neighborhoods for my kids to get home. With the grace of God and surely the help of my deceased father, I found this place and latched on with all my heart. (Old foreclosure of a 1930's Bungalow with nothing else but old trees!) Toward the end of single motherhood when my boys were teens, I had to work four jobs a week to stay here. The last bit of my home was paid off with all my and my son's savings. We too have too many neighbors now and I think when I pass my son will sell and go further into the woods if there is anything left! He is already saving for this. But back to your scripture. When I finally retired onto my Social Security, I felt so guilty because I had all this and didn't do much with it. I got things from the dump to help me raise chickens for food when they were smaller, but I still didn't understand that this was a "Total Lifestyle" necessity until I started watching you. I started to work outside harder because you justified what I had with your wonderful knowledge of the bible. Slowly I began to realize that my instructions for life were from that Book and you were giving me the directions on where to go and find this solace. I no longer felt guilty for having a home and land, and I no longer took time for granted. I learned from you how to farm in scorching heat and how to process this food and how to preserve this food from you and Wanda's Crazy Dayz channel. Her canning guidance is simply the best. The other day when you were gifted that grinder, I cried my eyes out as God KNOWS you deserve it for helping so many you will not know until you see our Lord. I am certain He will be well pleased with you Danny....well pleased indeed.

God is good all the time, even to those who are unable to move away from industry...He gives inner peace and joy....His mercies are new every day. You can be still, and be renewed by God's grace, knowing He is in control.... whether a person lives in the country, or in a concentration camp....such as Corrie Ten Boom. You, and most of us, are very blessed. I understand the country is beautiful and peaceful, but peace in the spirit is achieved through Jesus Christ, wherever a person lives. "This world is not our home, we're just 'a passing through." Thank you so much

Clearcutting is happening everywhere. I know of two instances with personal friends where the neighbors clearcut. They are sad. We are sad for them and the repercussions for them and their land. We are planning a similar move because of the craziness in our area. It wasn't like that a 10 years ago. Take care. Thank you for the Porch Time talks.

I understand what you are saying. I moved out of Oklahoma City 10 years ago with my children. Now I'm in a rural area in a smaller town called Yukon Oklahoma. Now it is growing into a small City. Trees being cut down everywhere and houses going up everywhere. I used to have wild turkeys and skunks and raccoons jump the fence. And now all I see are birds and squirrels and Hawks trying to find a place to live. I am looking for land also. Still praying and seeking God. I am a 65 year old and I have children and grandkids around me. My husband is with Jesus. The only peace and quiet is in my closet and 4 in the morning outside in my yard and I do have a stream behind it with trees and my dog and I enjoy it. Please pray for me that God will help me find a place. I miss the country. I find such peace and serenity with God in the country. I love your videos. God bless you and your wife and all.

My husband and I, moved to Texas when we were in our late 60’s. I am an antique dealer, so I had so much stuff to unload. I don’t know how we did it, but here we are in a better life. I moved from a short growing season with a very small amount of land, to a long growing season with room for chickens, gardens and trees. I would still love to be out in the middle of the woods, but as you get older, you realize you need things to be closer. I know how you feel.

So, so, true. Land is raped for building new homes or apartments and then the landscape people come in and plant trees and bushes. Makes no sense at all!
I understand, I was born and raised in rural South Georgia, so peace and quiet is priceless. I would so love to go back to an old dirt road and live in peace with God and to listen to all the country night music that only God provides! Prayers for peace to you and Wanda! Love you, take care. 🙏✝️
Thank you, Danny for letting me hear a Bob White Quail call in the back ground, before the hawks drowned them out. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard the Quail’s song, so thanks. 🙏❤️

We have property that joins state property. So we can't touch anything on the state property. We have two huge pine trees that are leaning and ready to pop off with the next wind storm. So we contacted the state and you can't even get them to come look and assess the problem. But, two miles down the road on state property of four hundred acres they are logging it ALL.

Took a crippling fall last week, enough to pretty much shut me down except for trying to get up and down so I don't make the back pain get more stiff, I received a phone call that I lost another Aunt early this morning. That is 2 of my mom's younger sister's in less than 7 wks. We have so much to give thanks for, so much of God's wonderful works around us, yet we forget to pray and say "Thank You Lord". There is 300 acres of pine behind my house. It will be a few years before they clear cut it. Personally I wish they would put it back in pasture like it was in the past. Over the years, I have gotten to the point that I hate pine trees - not the original long leaf pine that was native to my area, the plantation pine they grow now. They have destroyed the land around here planting and cutting and planting again. Like you, my family were loggers back in the day. My grandfather (born 1897) had a sawmill on his place, but it was different - they logged what was needed in the community and replanted hardwood-not pine. Then, in the 1960's Georgia Pacific and Weyerhaeuser came in. By 1980 all the dairy pastures were turned into pine plantations- hill land was planted in pines. The other issue is all the d## catfish ponds - we had several large holdings here that were beef growers - that's gone to those catfish ponds now. The county has gone in the toilet. Less than 12,000 folks with 90% on welfare. No jobs and if we had them don't have an educated workforce to fill positions. Talks for another big mill to come into the county-if it does I hope it's on the other side of the county from me. Three basic towns - two no longer really exist - the third is the county seat and 1/2 the storefronts downtown are boarded up. Times are not better - too many people- too close together- thinking about self- too far away from the land.

Huge pecan, oak and pines everywhere. We are definitely in the country and my nearest neighbors are definitely not close. I walk around, and am so thankful for what our Lord has provided for us and am so thankful that my grandparents paid $2,000 for this land by working in a cotton mill. I am 70 years old and my daddy taught me everything I know about gardening. You remind me of him and am so thankful for the inspiration and information you provide to me. Danny, Thank you so much for the scripture. If more folks knew about it, they might change where and how they live. During the "great lockdown," I felt so sorry for folks who lived in the cities in high apartment complexes and homes. They were prisoners in their own homes and had nowhere to go outside and take a walk. Thank God, we could walk up and down our country roads, and also around our property. That one situation carved in stone why we were guided long ago to live in the country on a good piece of land.

Unfortunately, for the long time people living in this area, it is very uncomfortable anymore to live here. We spent all those years fixing up our place to where we love it. Used to be so quiet here, it was wonderful. Not anymore! Our little town has gone downhill. I'm so sorry you & Miss Wanda are going through these uncomfortable changes around you. We bought a property a bit less than 4 acres in 2020 in a more rural setting where there weren't any neighbors in the 2 properties to the north of us. Since then both properties have e been sold (total of 20 acres). One of the properties was 15 acres that the buyer promptly had subdivided into 3 properties. They are building 3 homes on that 15 acres now, plus they also bought an additional 5 acres from one of the people that live next to them and are also building at least 1 home on that property. Total of 20 acres and one 'family' or so they claim. We joke that they are setting up the new Jonestown. Point is...since they arrived any peace we had is gone.

@@CraftEccentricity we are currently in the heat and craziness of the Phoenix, AZ area and can't wait to get out! It has become so overcrowded and loud in the past 5 years, filled with huge apartment complexes and miles upon miles of ugly humongous gray warehouses, it's just disgusting. The beautiful, sweet smelling orange groves, cotton fields and farms pretty much all destroyed and replaced with ugliness. It's heartbreaking! We are moving to the NE area of AZ so I will have to look into those types of trees and plants. We are planning on planting more trees and fruit trees as well. I just can't wait to get out of the city! It's hard for me to believe that my family actually wanted to move here from WI back in 1985. Things have changed so much since then though. Now our little community has been over run by AirBnB's and you can almost guarantee that you will come across someone playing music on a device while hiking. I understand your desire for peace & quiet. You're only abt 10 yrs older than I am. We lived (rented) on a 1,000 acre family farm. Over the 17 yrs we lived there, the 2nd wife sold off a couple chunks of it & then when the landlord passed (she passed abt a yr prior), his kid's thought that they were a fat cat gonna get rich, but they were selling off "their" share. I saw the life energy, literally fade away from the land when passed. We were lucky to buy a 6 acre property (technically 8 1/4) with an absentee neighbor owning an 8 1/4 section behind us, that we were hoping to buy to be able to reunite the property as a whole. But he sold b4 letting us know he was doing it & then those new owner's sold it a short time later. Now the newest owner's (current HOA people) & thing's have not gone well just in the few month's they've owned it. Today while I was out digging a hole to out in a new culvert in for an irrigation pump, they let out their calves, that stood at the fence bellering at us & our bull's, the kid's were out riding motorcycles (I don't mind that, I grew up doing that), but the tranquility of hearing the baby goat's, the bird's was silenced by the 3 calves calling to the bull's. And the neighbor's didn't care where the calves were. I miss the silence of being out in BFE.
I've been talking abt us finding someplace else to live with less neighbor's, if any. But with the interest rate as high as it is, it's not going to be possible. So, I am making plan's to replace the current barbed wire on the perimeter with some sort of no climb, because the new neighbor's kid's think they can feed our livestock anytime they want without asking. And then in addition to that & hot wire, I'm going to add some sort of a living barrier fence that will cut out the view of them, but will maybe feed us too.
My husband loves the beach, I like the mountains, except in the winter, so prairie type but surrounded by tree's is a happy medium. Lol
    I feel ya.😊🙏
