  • REALLY USEFUL LINKS IN THIS DESCRIPTION 😊

    ****************
I have made a complete Camino de Santiago backpack that weighs under 6 pounds (2.7kg) with all the essentials required to walk a full Way.
This means you can use this packing list to assemble a core list like this and then add as many luxury (or essential you you) items that suit you remembering that everything you add (for comfort) results in a heavier weight to carry (reducing comfort), so there is always a very personal balance.

Good video, clear and straightforward advice. I have an Atom Pack's Roo too and love it. On Camino I kept my passport and credentials in there (in a plastic bag)...so easy to pull out whenever I wanted a sello. Tons of room so I also had a paper guide book, headphones, hand gel, mask, loo paper plus dog poo bags (to pack out any tissues used in the wild), tissues (nose), small bag of nuts and raisins to snack on the go, pen, pencil (I write in my guide book) and my cards and cash. My phone went in the stretchy mesh outer pocket, secure and very quick to access/put away. If it was wet I could zip up my jacket over the top. Absolutely brilliant piece of kit. Like you it never left me. The only downside I found was croissant crumbs would fall into the mesh pocket 😂 (easy to tip out though).

Hahaha. Not just crumbs, chunks of Tortilla for me too in the pocket. I’m clearly a messy eater. 😂😂

    Thanks!
Was it sufficient with a ziploc bag as toiletry bag (wash bag?)? Or would it be better with one with a hook?

I only found one Albergue (Bercianos) where there was nowhere to put my toiletries, and in that instance there wasn’t really anywhere to hang it either. Hehe.
This video really does show just the core things so you have room to add luxuries that would make you more comfy like waterproof wash bags like this www.alpinetrek.co.uk/patagonia-black-hole-cube-small-wash-bag/ 😊
Also a lot of what I needed would fit into my bum bag/fanny pack which is also pretty much waterproof.

Everything adds to the weight though. A good idea is to get a pack ready with just the essentials and then put all the other things in a separate pile so you can add them in priority order to avoid over packing and carrying more than you need to 😊

Hi Christina, I’m sorry my filter went wrong and didn’t show me this message so I’m amazingly late responding.
An S hook is useful in a few albergues to hang things from the door. One idea to look at would be a wash bag / toiletry case made by a company called Matador. It’s light and waterproof and allows things to dry on the inside. This with a hero clip (available on Amazon) would solve that problem.
Personally as long as the bag is waterproof, I just have it in the shower with me 😊
Sorry again for taking so long to reply. x

      Thank you!
I got two answers from you rather short after I posted my question, so not late at all!
But very thankful for additional information!
