Kintobor didn't only become Robotnik because of the Chaos Emeralds; it was also because of a rotten egg. And, that origin of those two is from the Fleetway Sonic the Comic, not the games. In the games, Robotnik was always Robotnik.

@Elijah Chaney Actually, Sonic Labyrinth is non-canon. Sonic is naturally fast. However, better shoes can increase his speed further, such as the Lightspeed Shoes. However, heavy shoes can slow him down, and in Labyrinth, he is supposedly wearing Stone Shoes.

I checked, and if you divide your age by 2 and add 7, that is the minimum age. Sonic's would be 14.5.
