    Hey! After a bit of tinkering post-video we saw improved thermals with the Monoblock. Running Cinebench and MSI Afterburner for 30 minutes we saw temps peak at
    CPU: 85 C on the 12900KS
    GPU Hotspot: 87 C on 4090. (remember this is the without using the proper kit for the 4090)
    What do you think about this MonoBlock? Let us know below!

    (Felix from BilletLabs here) Great video guys! But this block was specifically for a 3090ti, not a 4090. We've since obtained a 4090 to test with, and using it with the 3090ti block leaves a gap of around 1mm over the die, so it's never going to cool properly. Linus and LTT have a history of not reading instructions (or not knowing how something works) and blaming the product. They do this like once a week.
      Most recent I remember, they did this with a device that had a SDR chip in it, where they tried to communicate with a digital walkie talkie using only analog signalling- and basically called it bunk.

    having worked as a CNC technician I can tell you that paper gaskets are perfectly fine. they probably decided to go with paper because of cost along with thermal performance of the gasket. paper gaskets are used to seal gear boxes, motors and all kinds of things that operate at higher pressures and temperatures than a water block could even conceive. its cheap and is way more easily customizable to specifications as well as does the same job a rubber gasket does, just as well if not better in certain situations. the one downside is reusability, it doesn't really like to be reused, but I guess that's where the cheap aspect of the material comes into play.

Whereas i have had many bad o-rings cause they have a nick in them or they dry rotted. idk the real answer to why they went with it, all i know is they deemed it was good enough and they seem like the people who know what they are doing.

    After the Gamers Nexus video I just thought to let you know that, in the UK, where this company is based, a comparable system from EK costs £400 (cpu and gpu) whereas and the cpu and gpu cooling solution from billet labs cost £649. If the billet labs solution is cooler, then it would, in my opinion, be a valuable option for people wanting the best of the best. We have the i9, which we all know no one needs to play cs:go, but people buy it anyway. And the same goes for water cooling in general, it’s not needed to keep your gpu cool, it’s done as a choice, as a style. Maybe you know this, maybe it comes across in the video. But spending £500 more to get proper results would be something I would have expected from LTT

    Those gaskets are actually very good at doing their job. A downside is that they usually need to be replaced once you take it apart after its been used for a while. They see much higher temps and pressures than you will ever see in a pc.

      @@Winnsondestroyed their startup?? 😂 they've sent a review sample to Canada. They got excellent pr, best thing that could happen. Surely it is cnc'd and they have the files. If they are offering this product for sale surely they can reproduce it. Other than that, I agree with Linus' conclusion. Very reasonable video.

    It's insane how Linus will casually throw a start up under the bus just to save 500 bucks. Linus is pretty much Elon of the tech youtube space now.

    • @Zarnubius
      @Zarnubius ปีที่แล้ว

      bro when he said $100-$500 I couldn't believe that he could be so fucking greedy as a multi-millionaire running a huge business. I have less that $3k in savings and *I* would spend the $500 to make things right. He has to have some kind of narcissistic personality disorder. As described:
      Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a mental health condition in which a person believes they are better than everyone else.
      It involves a pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, *and a lack of empathy.*
      People with NPD have an inflated sense of their importance and desire external praise and attention.
      They may also have grandiose fantasies and may be convinced that they *deserve special treatment.*
      Put someone with those traits in a position of influence and see their ability to self-reflect completely disappear, and get further reinforced as their ego grows with their influence. Not only that, he will *only* be able to puppy dog face and say "woe is me" and feel like the victim because he feels SHAME but doesn't process it as shame, to him it's an unjust attack on a little woopsie when he destroys someone's livelihood for literally no reason.
